I believe the 43 is not only still relevant, but actually a better concealment pistol than the 43X. I’m not one to buy a lot of guns. I need a reason. And I haven’t found a legitimate reason to replace the 43 with the 43X.
I've been pretty much in the same boat, which is why I made this video; and having both the 43 and the 48 I just can justify getting the 43X. Thanks for watching the video!!
I have a 43 stock with night sights added, a 43x slide milled and a Swampfox sentinel green dot installed, a 43x MOS, with a Holosun Eps carry installed & a 48 MOS with a Holosun EPS carry installed, a 19 gen 5 with night sights & a 19 gen 5 MOS with a Holosun SCS installed, all of them have their uses. I can’t imagine not having each for its intended purpose
I have a Glock 43 for a year now. Rides in a Desantis Superfly front pocket holster. Mag guts springs installed changing the round count from 6 to 7. Talon grips, Pearce pinky rests, Glock 6.9 rear sight and extended slide stop. Overwatch precision drop in trigger and my gun shoots nice tight groups. If I need something more, I’ll carry my G26.
I have both the 43 and 43x. I carried the 43 for about a year before I got the 43x which I carry now. The 43 now sometimes gets pocket carried in a kydex holster with the belt clip hardware taken off. It is very light and hides in my pocket very well even with Pearce +1 pinky extensions. The 43x gets carried most days IWB with OEM mags only. And yes, Glock needs to step up their game on the capacity of their smaller guns or get left in the dust. I will not run Shield Arms mags as they seem to be all over the place reliability wise.
I need to pick up some other Shield Arms mags and do some more testing with them, I have a couple of their 15 round 48 mags and so far they do great, but I have replaced the mag release which is what I hear causes a lot of problems with the 48 using them. I definitely agree with you regarding Glock, it's time they stepped up a bit. Thanks for watching!!
@@citizenpew Yea, I was thinking that those who have problems may be running the plastic OEM Glock mag catch instead of the Shield Arms one that would help it seat better... idk... Either way I like to stay stock as far as for what is in the gun while it is in the holster, backup mags/extensions I have more mental leeway on aftermarket stuff. I want those first shots to be flawless if I ever have to use the gun.
I get that, reliability is top priority, and staying stock often adds to reliability of a firearm from my experience. Even with the Shield Arms mags and new mag release I've found myself storing the 48 with the original mag a lot, I'm still testing the SA's mags effectiveness. I'm sure once I get a few more hundred rounds through them with no issue I'll feel very confident in them.
I just bought a 43. I also bought a couple of Z9 mags from Shield Arms which hold 9. I also have a 42 for summer time carry and a 43x for my owb carry in winter. Gotta love the thin line Glocks!
I carried my issue 19 in a Galco Miami Classic for 11 years. Nobody knew I had that gun on until I drew. Best money I ever spent on a carry system. My 26 rides in it now. I need to buy a 19. I miss mine.
I don't even know what "still relevant" even means. I have a Glock 43 and it works. That's what I purchased the gun for in the first place so that I can put ammo in it, pull the trigger and it goes "bang" so my guess is that it's relevant.
This wasn't so much about the firearms capabilities as it was it's popularity after Glock released the G48 and the G43X. Since the video I still have my G43, it's still the best ankle pistol I have and great for throwing in my pocket if just running to the store. I don't see myself picking up the G43X, but we'll see. Thanks for watching!!
Great video, congrats on all your thoughts verses 'feelings' that are so prevalent, with the more "enlightened" reviewers! Your non-robotic word selection, is also appreciated.👍
Thanks for watching! I really try not to fall into any "fanboy" mentality regarding firearms. Of course there are things I like for myself, but I'm hardly the end-all be-all of what's best for anyone else. I appreciate the comment!
The 43 is a great gun. I have had it about 5 years now. Had a M&P Shield but just didn't care for it. Bought a G19 gen 4, and it was nice but heavy to carry and sold it. I have a G19 gen 5 now and it is sometimes too big for me to edc still, but I love that gun too and probably keep it to use as a home defense pistol. When it comes to concealability and reliability, the 43 has never failed me. Just going to town, or making a road trip, the 43 is on my side. There are still many of these pistols sold every day, and with the ease of being able to carry, one can see why.
The G43 is just the right size for most EDC, if you haven't tried the Shield Arms upgrade you might look into it. I did it on both my G43 and G48. Basically replace the mag release with a metal version and use the Shield Arms mags, which for the G43 gives it 9 rounds. I've done a video on the G48 with the upgrade, it's nice having those few extra rounds. Thanks for watching!!
Hard to comment when we own none of these. I use a web site called Handgun Hero to compare handguns as it shows the gun itself next to the other compared pistols. Can move them on top of each other, fade in /out, back to back etc. Also give specs on each gun. Only Glock we have is 19. Using the web site, the 43 would be our choice to keep as rest are much less concealable for us. The 48 appears to be a slimed down 19 both in width and capacity. All choices are of course subjective, but all are quality guns which makes it nice.
I understand, and THANK YOU for telling me about that website!!! I can't believe I never heard of it, I'm definitely going to be using that in the future. I've got to do a video on it, I'll likely do a shout out to you two for letting me know about it if that is alright with you all. Thanks for watching! and thanks for the great comment!!
5:38 Those little bit taller and little bit thicker means a lot for an EDC. G43 and G42 are still the best EDC. Put Pierce +1 , and a +4 Fab Defence for back up, you good to go!
I haven't picked up a Shield Arms Z9 mag for the 43 yet, I'll have to look into getting one. Like you said too, having a 48 and a 43 is pretty much having a 43x, I had both when the 43x came out and for that reason saw no need for the x model. Thanks for watching!!
I'm sure it's tough for manufacturers to weigh the trade offs between ammo capacity, weight, and size; who ever gets it closest to ideal will surely dominate the micro 9 market for some time.
Round count is irrelevant. Either you can shoot accurately or you can’t. The idea is to score accurate hits on your opponent not spray the area hoping to get a hit.
@@jlinka79 what does situational awareness have to do with anything lmao i said what if theres more than one attacker, so therefore i would see them wouldnt i? Dont comment just to comment, you sound like a fool.
Appreciate your video! I recently acquired G43x after comparing it w/G43. I was torn between em, but I had to pick one. Jury’s stil out whether I chose the right one?
Thanks for watching!! It's a tough decision, I already had the G43 when the G43x came out and I had the similar debate between getting the G43x or the G48. I went with the G48, I may still get a G43x too, lol. Either way, one thing is for sure, Glocks just run, so I think you'll be good in that regard.
From a technology standpoint no longer relevant, there are options of comparable size that hold more bullets. From a reliability, effectiveness, and ease of concealment standpoint it’s as good as the day it came out. Carry an extra mag, you should anyway in the event the one you are carrying fails. Instead of worrying about capacity if you are faster and more accurate with a lower capacity gun you should carry that lower capacity gun. On the flip side if are faster and more accurate with the higher capacity one carry that one. It really comes down to fast accurate rounds on target. For example Jerry Miculek with a 5 shot j frame will beat Joe Blow with the newest, highest capacity, most technologically advanced concealed carry pistol every single time. Skill and practice is way more important than tech. Practice drawing, and do dry fire drills at home regularly you can make Improvements without even making a trip to the range as most people don’t have the luxury of going to the range daily.
Yeah, can’t you just throw the 43 slide on the 48 frame if you really want a 43X? Because I know you could put the 48 slide on the 43 frame and have a compact 48.
I have a question i am going to pocket carry the 43.With the flush fitting mag how is the recoil and is it shootable or should i use pinky extension. Should I use a Sticky Pocket holster Or the Desantis Nemesis pocket holster. Thanks
Honestly I don't notice a difference in recoil handling between the two mags, but a lot of that may be familiarity. As far as pocket holstering I just used a cheap soft holster with a pocket alignment tab to keep it straight when I pocket carried. Currently I use the G43 as my ankle carry. Hope that helps, thanks for watching!!
Most people I know with the 43X really like it, I think the hard decision is should someone with a 43 upgrade to the 43X, especially in my case having the 48. Thanks for the comment! Thanks for watching!!
@@citizenpew I bought it for her birthday a couple years ago mostly because it had a pretty, girly looking frame. Turns out it's a great little pistol.
The plus two for the 43 is almost a necessity to keep it competitive to the 43X and 48 as far as rounds available, I forgot to mention the plus one and twos for the mags in the video, thanks for the reminder on that!!
The 43 isn't really viable unless that's all you have... But why would you limit yourself when about a half an inch, gets you more rounds, and an easier to shoot gun. If you can carry a 43, you can carry a 43x. Also, if you can carry a 48, you can carry a 19. You should carry up... Clint Smith said it best when he said "if comfort is your biggest concern, just leave your gun at home. Because you're not leaving the house with it to be comfortable." People who won't carry a piece because they can "feel the gun" are carrying because they want to say they carry, not because they think they might need it. ...and promag is garbage. They have literally earned every bit of their reputation for being trash. People don't bash them for no reason.
@@lucetothebridge Tell me you learned all you know about firearms from video games... @@joeytomato I edited because English is just my 3rd (or 4th) language , some mistakes as always , forgive me for that. ps. IF you can carry an RPG, you can carry a Bazooka 😆
34 seconds into the video he states that he’s wondering if the Glock 43 is still relevant now that the Glock 43X is out. He says this without mentioning the Sig Sauer P365 or the Ruger LCP Max. I can’t help but wonder if he works for Glock. He’ll I can’t help but wonder if there are many paid PR experts, or sycophants trying desperately to get ahead in their respective companies, posting videos on RU-vid to aid in damage control and sell their products. It’s just my humble opinion that people are getting tired of this gibberish and the so called social engineering nonsense. Enough with the cronyism and nepotism that creates these do nothing jobs and focus on the product and what people want. If the companies simply embraced the German concept of “immer besser”, and strive to always make better with all their products every year, well the occasional failure would incur much less damage financially and simply equate to a wake-up call. If companies focused on quality instead of the mighty dollar, they would be much better off financially. Just my two cents. By the way, I want my 5 minutes back.
I'm just a firearms enthusiast, no connection to any company or organization. I own a 43 and a 48 and was debating on whether or not to get a 43x and wondering if I should sell my 43. The question I was asking myself was the 43 still relevant, if not why not sell it, if so then I'll keep it. That's all this discussion was, sharing my thoughts related to that decision.
43 hands down for me. Plus 1 extension means 8 rnds and I am a magazine whore. Having said that, it's up to you not me. 43X or 48 may be your perfect gun. If you worry about capacity, buy more factory mags or carry a G 26 or 19. You could do worse. Great video!
