78 is my favourite big knife because of its round durable handle and the sheath. I consider the 78 better because I can use my thumb for pushing on the spine of the blade.
I am doing some batoning with the batoning hammer to prepare the wood and then feathersticks, which were nice and curly.
However I did lost the handle plug while shooting this video.

IMHO, the FM78 is the toughest most practical 'all purpose' knife EVER made. I literally love mine! I brought 2 FM78's before the literally disappeared almost overnight. I know the word is used too often, but it IS the most underrated knife of all time. I've had everything, and it took me since 1981 to finally find the best knife in the world. This is it! Period. We knew of it since 81' but we did not know what it was called, where or how to get it from 1985 when I began looking. But it would have been available in surplus form from at least 1987-88 in the U.S. Unfortunately I was not and am not in the U.S.

@@SB_Chr Are you willing to pay $100 for a knife that's worth $15-20? In Poland, where I live, Glock is the cheapest knife you can buy, and almost every other knife is better than it. It gets dull very quickly - spring steel is supposed to not break and not stay sharp for long. Any Buck knife made of well-hardened 420HC steel will become blunt in half the time and will not break easily. Want a really good military knife? Buy a Peltonen M95 or one of the Terrava knives, or even better - a Falkniven, but it will be expensive.

Thanks for your feedback :) I am pretty happy with the Glock 78 for harder tasks. It sits well in my hand. It will make a good team with your smaller Mora Companion MG.

Good choice. It is my favorite big knife. I think they are now available only in black color.

Hello, yes the Glock 78 is the best ! I own 3 of them.👍 Do you think the Glock is better then a Peltonen M95 ?

These are two completely different tools. The Glock is a knife bayonet, which is only a knife - it has a hole in the back of the handle to put it on the rifle barrel. Peltonen M95 is an excellent general-purpose knife. The most important thing is the steel used and its hardness. The Glock is made of spring steel, soft but resistant to breaking. It becomes dull very quickly and is very difficult to sharpen due to its softness. Try cutting a tomato into thin slices or cutting a slice of bread with it - good luck. This "knife" is a sharpened railway rail made of not very hard steel. The use of such steel was intentional - the price is low and the knife is unlikely to break. Peltonen keeps sharpness 10 longer and is also resistant to breakage, but slightly less. However, it is a real knife that cuts and slices well. It is also heavier and much easier to cut through a branch, although this is done with an ax and not a knife.

I do not have experience with Peltonen M95 so I can not compare which is better. Glock 78 never failed me down, the price is right, it is a good tool for me - good handle shape, easy to sharpen, works any time.
