@@michaelagainstme They should have Amped his voice a bit, at the actual event you could hear him p well but the recording software doesn't pick him up too well
I can see I am not the only one waiting for a live video to judge Sozos properly. I think he is the right replacement, very versatile vocally and extremely talented.
i guess when you boil it down to a technical level he is a better live singer due to his stamina being way better than toms. Thomas struggled a bit live, we know but he still always did an admirable job and i dont really think this guy is “better” than thomas. the big thing i don’t get from the new guy is overall stage presence. Thomas was just so more fun to watch on stage, and in my opinion that isn’t and easy or quick skill to learn. then again, i dont know much about show biz so take that with a grain of salt
He probably needs some time to adjust. Once he's able to focus less on the songs themselves, he'll have some room for extra stage stuff. I think what he's doing is looking great!
Sozos is most definitely a better singer when it comes to technique and range, but it's obvious he can't have the stage presence of Thomas right away. After all part of Thomas stage performance was being Angus McFife on stage. Now Angus is probably based on Thomas personality, just cranked up to 11, but Sozos on the other hand doesn't have a character yet, he's not Angus McFife for now for what I know. It probably wouldn't be wise to announce him as the new Angus or for him to try and be Angus on stage now that the wound of losing Thomas is still so fresh for the fans, and instead focusing on just show his skills as a singer to give a good first impression. Then when a new album comes out, with new lore and either a new version of Angus based on him, or a new character entirely is created for him, he can focus on interpretation and being a little bit more over the top live like Thomas did.
Saw them in Birmingham on Wednesday, and thought I'd share my verdict, for what it's worth. Difficult to judge. The sound was awful. Way too much bass for the first part of their set. Then, my step dad (who's a musician), said that the vocals had too much echo. I said to this my friend, and he agreed. We then listened to the next song. Past the bass, the roars of the crowd, we honed in on the vocals... Conclusion? Harmonies with Thomas' vocals. Hard to confirm but that's what we both got. I'd like to see what he can bring to the band. He needs his own album with the band, possibly 2, and a bit more time to bring his own character to the front. He was thrown in the deep end with this tour, and for that I feel sorry for him to an extent, but he tried too hard to be Thomas - not Angus McFife.
I can't freaking wait for tomorrow wey today now am seeing these at Newcastle Tuesday night with some mates from work but dressing as pirates for Alestorm
@@theacethree7943 Yeah Tom had more presence, but at the cost of the singing. I think that once this guy really gets into it, we're in for a real treat
I may be biased because he's a Cypriot and I'm Greek, but there was no doubt in my mind that they'd pick a great replacement for Tom. It was obvious that Tom struggled live and there were rumors that he had lots of help in the studio, if you know what I mean. He did have an awesome stage presence though, and that covered for much of his shortcomings. Michael is undoubtedly the better singer, but his performance is lacking a bit. However, judging him based on his first ever live show with the band is folly. Give him some time to get his bearings and I'm sure that given time he'll win over even the harshest of skeptics.
@@earlenglish4674 Yes, that's true, but nowadays you can make pretty much anyone sound good in a studio recording ;-) For me, live will always be the ultimate test.
@@ektelion I think that’s important, but as these bands rarely if ever come where I can see them live, I find studio to be more important as that’s what I’ll hear 90% of the time. And I also disagree with you’re statement the studio makes anyone sound good. If that were true everyone Would sound good lol.
@@ektelion from my observation Tom didn’t have issue with his ability to sing live so much as his ability to sustain the quality of his voice. His stamina, if that makes sense. I’ve seen good vocal recordings of him live, but sounds like he doesn’t have the stamina to make it through whole set/ multiple sets.
This seemed like a very awkward live performance. Not much movement, and he just looked like he wasn't sure what the hell he was doing. I'd criticize the voice, but all I can hear is the damn bass of everything and that's it. I hope they work this new guy into the story well though instead of playing it off as another angus. Would be interesting, especially given the ending of TFOACD.
tbh I love Gloryhammer too much to be upset about a different vocalist. I love tom but i warmly welcome sozos. may he fight well against the deathlords of crai!
@@quesoblanco444 I found an article that there was a dispute due to some in the band saying certain things but nothing much to the firing of Thomas. The new vocalist isnt bad I just prefer Thomas
@@Ragnarockthedarkwolf Such a shock. Thomas really added so much character to the group, he was an awesome singer and a charismatic frontman for the band.
New singer make a good you, but for me, gloryhammer isn`t the same without thomas. I also find the behavior of the other band members questionable, especially the allegations against Bowes and others.
Notangus is not bad, but he's not Angus, sorry. That is not a downside. A downside is having to get a jetpack and fly to the sun to recharge the Gloryhammer. No. This is more like throwing yourself to the volcanic fire. Sorry Notangus, but yeah... only Angus is worthy of the Hammer of Glory, and without it, what is Gloryhammer?
The new Angus sounds decent enough but I miss Thomas.. it was always part of the charm that he wasn't the best singer but gave it 200% regardless. You can't recreate that. Best of luck but will see how this turns out
Well first of all, I too think Thomas was better. Nostly because I'm used to him. I think Michael will be a worthy replacememt and I am sure he will learn the ways of the Hoots!
New guy is actually amazing guys from seeing him in Dublin and being front row the audio here just isnt the best. Old guy got fired for some ugly stuff from what I've seen so could be worse
Tom was fired because of buisness disagreements. The "ugly stuff" is that someone leaked racist dialouges from band private chat where THOMAS is not represented, because he didnt write anything in that chat on those screenshots.
Words in some chatroom wich could have been written by anyone and were the only evidence are screenshots wich can be faked dont matter anyways, what really matters are actions and if you act on those words.
Gloryhammer is done, Tom is out and in the songs three of them are dead, they should use that to finish the band lol That guy can't replace Tom, is good but nothing special (?
El chico lo hace genial, pero no me gustó como chutarón a Tom, así que para mi Gloryhammer está muerto, no por el nuevo cantante, sino por el resto del grupo que ha gestionado fatal las crisis que tenian entre manos.
