This is so sad. Seems like he's not singing from the belly, he's screaming from his throat which is so unprofessional. Virtual hug for everyone who was there, for our lost hopes
Of course this is speculation, but the uncharacteristically tired/annoyed/stressed expression (in addition to the normal focus required to play a show like this) on James Cartwright/the Hootsman's face somehow makes total sense in retrospect. It might be hindsight, but Winkler really seems to be the only one who doesn't look burdened by something.
I was at this gig and it's pretty obvious that he struggled big time with his vocals, which is a real shame as I have seen them in the past and he sounded great. I'm not sure what happened; poor technique takings its toll, perhaps? Pity. He's a tremendous front man either way and the show was enjoyable as always.
I was wondering for days and months why they kicked him out... watching this earlier would have made it clear. It's not that he's bad but he struggles big time. Even if it was just his side job... being the singer of a band this big requires some lessons. Learning the right technique could have helped him so much.
@@PoisonVibe666 I doubt it's bout technique, but rather a lack of proper training during the pandemic. It's what happens when you put a top level athlete on a casual training regimen for more then a year.
That is no reason to kick him from the band , vocal issues can be worked on and fixed , but yes you can hear the strain in his voice. Years of improper technique will do that
@@martaw1869 lots of things can throw a singer off , his voice is showing serious wear and tear here , it is true that not all singers are trained , but you can only go so far before you hit a wall , and for him it happened , you dont realize you have an issue until its too late and you do irreparable damage , but your not wrong either some singers get so caught up within themselves that any constructive criticism would make them go on the defensive , it happened to a lot of my favorite singers who let fame sadly go to their heads anything anyone would say to them would send them off for no reason .
I saw them live twice. He sounded pretty good. I dont like to base their performance on a video that doesn't have proper sound. That goes for most bands ive seen. Videos on RU-vid, even good quality can't compare to actually being there. Alsstorm to me is heavier on album than live.
I just want a pro shot of Masters of the Galaxy with Thomas. It's an absolute tragedy we'll never get one after being blueballed by the last Wacken concert
I saw them live just a couple years ago and he sounded great. Not studio quality for sure, but way better than in this video. Not sure what happened during that time.
@@martincheverton7313 They sacked Angus, the vocalist, then a bunch of racist, misogynistic messages from group whatsapp chats were leaked, band has been dead since.
@@DigitalHazardVT Welp they are on tour with Alestorm and Bootyard Bandits right now in the UK with a new vocalist and I'll be seeing them in a few days. Seems like the band is doing well with a 4th album planned soon.

people talkin about toms vocals performance here that seems to be not on point. tbh what matters is that he performs with power, energy and soul and you can hear and feel it! im forever sad that gloryhammer will never be the same without him!
There was a time where I would've been stoked to see more Gloryhammer footage. That time passed when we found out how childish, racist, sexist, and so forth they are. No thanks. Still love you, though, Bloodstock. You really do have the best live videos on RU-vid. Just a shame this one's a little hard to enjoy.
@@shamalov9438 Ah. A brilliant retort. I have completely changed my stance after being faced with such a compelling, rational, and mature counterpoint. Thank you for enlightening my day and proving that there are still intelligent people willing to stand for what they believe in out there. Cheers!
@@alanjay479 My favorite part is that the whole premise of the 'soy boy' line of insults is based on ignorance. I remember reading into it a while back because I was curious (I knew a girl who loved to spout misinformation, and this was another thing she was pretty adamant about - so I was curious to see if it, too, was bullshit), and the whole thing seems to pivot around the idea that soy contains estrogen therefore leads to more 'femininity'. Ignoring the fact that you have to be pretty damn insecure to be so concerned about that, the funny thing is it's a PLANT estrogen called phytoestrogen - and, apparently decreases estrogen production because it binds with receptors. But, idiots like this bloke just see estrogen and think 'SOY BAD'. God, I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed, but I can't even imagine quite being THAT braindead.
@@Akherousia502 And now let me explain something. This phrase is a meme. An incredible funny meme. Not because of it's meaning, deep biological scientific roots etc. It's funny because folks like you overreacting to it soooo much. I wrote just 1 word - and you answered with a tons of text with stories from your life and silly attempts to insult me, lmao.
