Have you tried the inkey list yet? I am using their niacinamide and hyaluronic acid after been using the ordinary for over a year and their texture feel so much better. Not as thick or sticky.
Im not sure if it is available in your area, but you should review Walmart’s Earth to skin skincare line! They are basically dupes of high end products. Btw I love your videos!
This is why you are my hero. "Yes, it is overpriced vaseline, but I love it." I love that you are so unapologetic about the things you like, so upfront about the reasoning, I honestly trust your opinions and advice so much. Too often I feel like people try too hard to be hardcore skincare junkies, like the only that matters is the ingredients, and refuse to acknowledge that branding and packaging play a roll. But I know I love me some pretty packaging. Also, can recommend the Bubblewrap Eye and Lip Plumping Cream. Absolutely love the stuff. The skin around my eyes is very sensitive and dry, and this stuff is brilliantly soothing and nourishing. It actually does plump a bit too, which I honestly was not expecting, but after a few weeks I noticed that the deep funnels from my inner corners didn't really feel like they were there anymore. The fact that I can use some on my lips when they are particularly dry and sore is a nice bonus, as it doesn't leave any finish behind and I can add a balm over top. Best of all, it's fragrance free.
THANK YOU! I thought I was the only one realizing Glossier is just the „vibe“ they sell through their marketing! they are, tbh, really clever with their marketing, everybody(!) seems to love all of their products and if you don’t own a single one your missing out! Who doesn’t want to be the _effortless_ , chic, body positive, independent women with exactly one chanel product on their shelf and kiehls eye cream, doing their makeup with a tinted lip balm (on the cheeks as well) and taming their 50 million eye brow hairs with boy brow? drinking a hot glass of water EVERY morning with cayenne pepper and half a lemon squeezed, all while inside your pure silk night gown? LOL, that‘s not reality plus I boycot it for exactly this marketing (and I‘m allergic to a specific ingredient they put in every product they make, on top of that I‘m already excluded as a european not living in the UK)
@@vitamins00 Where exactly did I drag you? I was 'profiling' their target group and their first grwm videos on their itg channel! It's rather analytical than anything else.
Omg I love you! As a native “LA girl” I absolutely adore your flattering imitations and love of packaging. I feel like we’re skin soul mates. I’ve been dabbling into Korean skin care cuz something about Sephora and western Skin care just doesn’t feel RIGHT. You’ve validated my thoughts and push me to expand my skin care journey!!! Love your channel, love your personality, love your knowledge. ♥️♥️♥️
Hey! Haha glad you didn’t find it offensive! I have to admit...it’s purely based on what I’ve seen on the Hills! I’ve been to LA kids and met like...1 Person like that 😂 ahhhh and so glad you’ve been trying Korean skincare!!! Hope you like it ❤️❤️
I know some ppl don’t get bothered by fragrance in their skincare products but I get extremely frustrated with the whole thing. There is no function for fragrance in skincare. Again I know not everyone feels this way but a lot of ppl do and I just don’t get why brands keep adding them in. There is absolutely a potential for fragrance added in exfoliating products that can cause more irritation with it in it than without. I just hope eventually the whole fragrance in skincare starts to dwindle lol or at least a fragrance free option becomes available in products like Purtio did with their sunscreens ❤️ Thanks for your review James 🥰
Yeah as much as I’m not bothered by them....they’re completely unnecessary. Even masking fragrance I’m like....why do that 🤷🏽♂️ hopefully it is something that will slowly be phased out as much as parabens in skincare (although I have no problem with those!)
Cat Augusta james and susan yara have both said they have some products with fragrance that they enjoy using because of the experience (the packaging, texture, fragrance etc) and because they are effective, if it works for you and doesn’t irritate your skin at the moment then fragrance shouldn’t stop you from using it!
can we just appreciate how james tested these out for A MONTH so he could give us the best review possible with such informed opinions. he truly cares about his subscribers 💜
Thank you!! Finally someone speaks the truth. I thought I am the only one who doesn't get Glossier, their products are so mediocre at best, I tried multiple products and nothing really stands out at all. All is smart marketing
about the orange oil in the sunscreen - i thought that citrus oils became volatile or harmful or something when exposed to sun...? like phototoxic? dont quote me on that ig!
As a biologist and as a person who had suffered acne and had gone to dermatologist during my teenager's years. having some rosacea as a consequence of the treatment (salicylic acid everyday) I was naive, though more was better. And currently going to the dermatologist because the acne wants to come back I certainly only buys active ingredients, I do not care about the packaging, the smell or anything else. do the job and period, the ordinary, la Roche Posey and Nivea have become my best friends
Welcome Back James 😍😍 Me: My Trouble skin ai’nt gonna buy this expensive brand with basic products meant for Normal Lucky people Skin type. Also Me: Watched the whole video just to listen James #fortheloveofJamesWelsh💚
I'm a Normal Lucky person Skin type, and I'm not going to bother either. The fans of this brand are so precious about it, I was curious if there was anything to it. "Basic" and "overpriced" aren't great selling points regardless of how good your skin is, 😂.
I think this is a great review of the skincare! As someone really into K and J beauty the skincare products don’t really Impress me. But their makeup is pretty much my favourite brand! I’ve never repurchased one of their skincare products but keep going back and buying their skin tint, cloud paint and boy brow
I’ve always loved glossier, straight from the get go! Granted I haven’t always had perfect skin. I think where I went wrong in my skincare routine was having far too many products, my skin was definitely overwhelmed and was screaming for a much more simple regimen. Totally learned my lesson, anyhoo! MASSIVE faaaaan of milky jelly cleanser, I love the scent, it’s a light mix of rose and lychee, smells very fresh and calming, very gentle on sensitive skin, although wouldn’t recommend this for folks that wear heavier makeup as it’s not good for removing it 100%, also the balm dot coms are great, the (original) is great for chapped skin in general not just for the lips, but fantastic on cuticles too! x
I find it so weird that the moon mask is marketed to be washed off since it sinks in almost completely! It makes more sense as a leave-on product overnight or something you just let soak in and use a cotton square to dab off any extra after your skin has absorbed what it can.
I’ve been using Glossier for a few years now and I actually like most of their products. I’m actually also a big fan of the boy brow eyebrow ‘pomade’. Btw the balmdotcom also keeps eyebrows right in place (just use very very sparsely - and just the unscented one 😉). Edit: Ps I’ve also been loving their fragrance - even though it’s promoted as a women’s scent. I’m not from LA btw and Glossier is actually a brand from New York
kyan78 how old are you just curious? When I was young I could have put dirt on my face and I would have looked amazing. Of course I had acne but nothing major so I was lucky. Now I have to fuss a bit more.
Tainted Life haha i’m from 1978 (yes - it’s that prozaic). But yes - Glossier is not all I’m using, but I just don’t think it’s bad at all and people just also love to hate Glossier.
kyan78 I only used the cleanser and thought it was dreadful. We’re close in age. But I don’t wear makeup. The texture was fine but the smell was so intense and synthetic. I just like other cleansers way better. It was affordable though and they refunded me so they have great customer service.
Glossier has some pretty good stuff like the cloud paint cream blush and the generation-g lipsticks but I have to admit a lot of it is kinda ridiculously priced for what the product actually is. The skin tint is literally like putting on air and the gloss is super overpriced for it just to be plain and clear 🤦🏾♀️
Yes! I agreed on balm dot com. And the berry one is my fav, it literally smell like berry jam! I use it over lip spf. But you used so little lol.. as I have finished 1/3 tube in 4 weeks.. maybe I always reapply due to the scent.. hahaha
I stocked up on avene extremely gentle cleanser in France this week. It's 8.5 euro for 300ml good dupe for the glossier jelly cleanser and pricey dermalogica calming milk cleanser. Had so many harsh cleansers over the years.
Can we get a weekly routine? It’s kind of hard to gauge how often to use sleep masks, clay masks, bha/ahas and what that really looks like spaced throughout the week.
First of all - YES MIMIKYU :D and love the video; I love how honest you are - you're not trashing the brand but give good criticism and the part with niacinamide - just perfect! Thank you
LAgirl, vegan and normally don't have any major skin issues here lol I was so excited to buy glossier ...but.. as I looked into it more I only went with the zit stick for my one monthly pimple and the AHA BHA PHA solution to help my aging skin gently exfoliate (+I had very bad digestive issues a while back that gave me cystic acne and left behind hyperpigmentation issues) Glossier makeup is my asthetics, nice skin is front and center; minimal makeup and many vegan/cruelty free products. They almost got me 😂
Could you pleeeeaaase do a review of pestle and mortar? It's an irish brand that's kind of high end but the ingredients seem pretty good quality. Would love to hear you opinion on it though 😊
Could you do a vid about what body skincare you use? Maybe you’ve done it before but I feel like a lot of RU-vid channels that I’ve watched only make like one video about this topic and it would be nice to see more! ❤️
Hahahahaha both their skincare and makeup are indeed for people with pretty flawless skin! 😂 I've mainly tried their makeup stuff, like the boy brow and the concealer, and I think they're good, but the balm dotcoms did't really impress me at all. They're basically flavoured vaseline imo. I much prefer Nuxe reve de miel or Burt's bees or other lip butters/oils, that are more than just occlusives (which do work but only along with something more nourishing underneath for me).
Can you make a video comparing all the different hyaluronic acid serums you’ve tried? There’s so many on the market, I’m not sure which one to buy, especially now that the weather is getting drier. Love your videos!
I know this is soooo late based on when this was posted but I recently revisited glossier (I love the priming moisturizer and milky jelly in the summer) but they actually brought me into the serum world and I’m endlessly appreciative for that hahaha
James, I know you're not a fan of unfragranced products but I'm allergic to fragrance and have recently switched from expensive fragrance free skincare to the waitrose brand! it's called waitrose pure skincare and I've found it to be really good, especially their hot cloth (oil) cleanser. I was wondering if you could review it? For those of us with sensitive skin. or maybe do a 'supermarket skincare' review and compare waitrose, tesco and sainsburys own skincare lines. That would be really awesome to see which one you think is best! :)
Anytime I have tried their skin care products I just haven’t had any luck. I had a terrible reaction to their niacinamide serum and their sun screen... both resulted in bumps and eczema flare ups. I’ve learned to just stay away lol.
Do your skin a favor and look up Niod which is The Ordinary's sister company. Their Hyaluronic serum is a bit pricey at $30.00, but you get 5 different forms of hyaluronic acid at different molecular weights that penetrate much deeper into the skin. It's a small bottle at .05 oz. but you only need a drop or two directly on your problem areas, and it works sooo good.
I went to a glossier store when I ran out of my usual moisturizer and bought the priming moisturizer from there. Long story short I used it and my face went all red and irritated IMMEDIATELY! That’s when I figured out I can’t do fragranced products.
A lot of people have reactions to priming moisturizer because it contains retinol! I've talked to so many people who had that issue. It probably isn't the fragrance ♥️
I use The Ordinary's Niacinamide but I actually don't get any lasting tackiness at all. Obviously when I first put it on my skin it's tacky but it goes completely smooth and "dry" after a few seconds. No issues with pilling either.
James Welsh Yes I did! I agree with you, I feel like you're just paying for the cute packaging and the hype, but since I'm from Germany, I couldn't get Glossier products anyway. However, if they're going to be available soon, you definitely kept me from wasting money on basic overpriced products, so thanks a lot :) I might try that cloud paint and lip balm tho.. 😅
It really depends what you're looking for. I prefer low coverage, so it's my favorite brand. Their makeup is great. Cloud paint and lash slick are my favorites. If you're into natural makeup, you'll love this brand
Lurrrve your videos and reviews, James... too much maybe 🤔 I’ll have to declare bankruptcy soon though... been buying too much because of your recommendations 😜😂😂 and, I can’t seem to stop 😱
I use the milky jelly cleanser as a first cleanser when I haven't worn makeup and as a second cleanser after micellar water when I have. Like you said, it's not life changing but I do love the smell, I feel fancy when I use it, and I have good skin so it gets the job done for me :) but I will probably be trying a different cleanser once this runs out.
Your LA girl impression 😂! Please can you try the Holika Holika Aloe range of products - they have an emulsion, mist and cream that look exciting but there aren't many online reviews.
I'm so obsessed with the balm dot com too 🙈 I just cant help myself. 😂 I've tried the sunscreen. Like you said, once I discovered korean sunscreen, I can't use the glossier one anymore
@@alicezeee6335 which one you pick is really a personal preference of the scent. I like the birthday cake one because I prefer sweet scents like vanilla x
Please please please try Boscia! I promise their clear complexion cleanser was the only thing that has helped me out with my acne in a while! But I would still to hear your thought on the rest of their products!:)
Hi 👋🏼 can you please film a video on how to properly remove sunscreen as well as a review on Chanel and Dior skincare (you don’t have to buy it just go through the ingredients) thank you 😊
If you wanted something lighter than Hyluronic Acid from The Ordinary, have you tried The Ordinary’s Marine Hyluronic? Its like water and supposed to sink deeper.
Vincent Cheung I bought this today and was shocked at how thin it was! More like a toner than a serum. But the instance I put it on my dehydrated skin I fell in love! 😍 like a tall glass of water for my skin! I’m excited to see what it will do for my hydration long term.
