Keep some in your pocket!!!! Seriously. I had a new client this morning, and in the dining room during breakfast, all of a sudden massive nosebleed. I also have a travel size of powder, because my hands get sweaty and powder makes it easier to get the gloves on. I’m 39 with hot flashes, and elderly are always cold, so it’s always hot where they are.

Why do we put the head of the bed up before washing our hands? Is it not ok to raise the HOB after washing our hands?

Can you guys do some videos on how some tasks might be different in the home environment as opposed to a nursing home? I'm a CNA in Washington State and I work doing in home care. There's a few things I have to do differently in the home environment than in the nursing facility. Like a big difference in my state-not sure about yours-I'm allowed as a CNA to give a client (living at home) insulin and other kinds of shots and care/change out colostomy bags and change dry and wet wound dressings (depending on the wound-some wounds/situations still require an RN to monitor it) -I can even care for picc lines (in certain cases) The client has to be okay with me doing it, I have to be okay doing it, an RN (or higher) has come out to personally train me/the home care aid on how to do xxx thing for a the client and yes, we have to be retrained for each client even if we've done it a 1000 times before for another client and it has to be written in the care plan how often I (and or any other in home care aids) will be doing xx thing.

Sorry cant put my bare hands in a client basin of water to wash their face , axilary , back all without gloves on, come on. i dont expect people to work with me without gloves on not because am dirty
