Update: We tested thick Proofgrade wood, and it worked ✅ although the 🚫QR Code🚫is not working yet at least at the time of this comment. You will need to create your own settings until Glowforge develops them and adds them. We had a long chat with Glowforge Support and found out why the settings for many materials do not exist yet. Check out Part 4 in the series to find out what we learned! Have a fantastic day!

Hi, what is the white pen you used to fill in the engraving?

We used a Marvy DecoColor Paint Pen. We also use Posca Paint Pens. Thank you for your question!

Have you guys tried mirror acrylics? Or is that just not an option?
@Flemingoriginals007
@Flemingoriginals007 10 месяцев назад
Mirror acrylic is not an option for diode lasers. We bought some, which should arrive today. We will test it out and let you know. Thank you for the question.

Hello! Can it cut pastel acrylics? Not wanting to spent 5k on the other machine.

We are trying to find nontransparent pastel acrylic. Craft Closet has a link to materials that diode lasers can cut. It looks like it can cut a few colors of pastel. Here is their link: craftcloset.com/collections/diode-acrylic This is not an affiliate link.

I am using cast acrylic 1/16" thick. It will NOT cut. I have tried several colors and get the same results. I am not understanding why I cant get the acrylics to cut. FYI I am not using any lite colors. mostly purple red green etc....

Thank you for your question. That is strange. We are sorry you are experiencing this. Here are some troubleshooting questions: Is it cutting other materials as it normally would? Is there any chance the colors could be translucent even though they look opaque? (We have experienced that issue.) What settings are you using? Have you tried the Proofgrade Ecothin acrylic settings in the closest color to your material? Let us know and we will try to help.

We tried clear acrylic and it melted parts, but it wouldn’t cut or engrave.

I just tried this and ran the cycle twice and it still didn't cut through! would you try a third?

@ashleycapeloto3626 What material are you cutting,. What settings did you use? If it is acrylic, which color? How deeply did it cut?

I am cutting cast acrylic that is 1/8” thick, laser ready (purchased from Etsy) but it is white. It looks like it cut about half way.
@Flemingoriginals007
@Flemingoriginals007 Год назад
@@ashleycapeloto3626 White is a color it shouldn’t be able to cut because it has high light transmission. Since it has cut halfway though, can you try it again but increase the number of passes? That would be impressive if it worked! Please keep us posted! We’re rooting for you!!

@@Flemingoriginals007 I haven’t had issues yet with my glowforge other than it doesn’t cut white acrylic! UGH!! I own the glowforge aura. I have only approximately done 12 projects I think. Not sure yet about clear! I found a nice guy here in my hometown that said he would cut the white piece I need to finish my grandsons project. So thankful for that. I found calling in the other day a guy helped me out with some really good tips with a few things. Very polite and encouraging! The next day I called about something the girl was kinda rude. Like she didn’t want to help or wait a bit for me to explain and test. I tried to call back like she said and it would say press 1 for technical support. I did waited and it hung up I tried at least 5 times. Than I called left my phone number nothing no call back or anything! If they want to keep people they need to #1 stand behind their product positively #2 be polite and very helpful #3 give better instructions on material that does work and doesn’t! Like put on their tags on their wood, acrylic etc. works with Aura! It’s upsetting you buy the stuff than find out it doesn’t work! #4 be patient with people we are learning!!! #5 stand behind their products with a helpful attitude!!! I have seen so many u-tube videos of people upset with Glowforge! Also of the more expensive ones breaking down and not covering them! It’s a lot of money rather you own the aurua or any other ones to be given the run around! I am possibly looking into a different laser cutter/engraver etc. But I want good backup support! I did find out my Cricket will cut clear acrylic and engrave. I realize it can’t be very thick but I have been with cricket for at least 15-20 years. They stand behind their product help you out! I had to send at least 3 back and they sent me replacements!
