As a general rule to thin the Elmers glue, use 2 parts glue mixed with 1 part water (i.e. 2 tablespoons glue to 1 tablespoon water). If it seems a bit thin add a tad more glue. You want the consistency of heavy cream or house paint. For spreading I recommend a spackling spreader like a carpenter uses to finish walls. It's a heavier more pliable plastic that works better for getting the glue into the spaces between the puzzle pieces. A good 1 - 2 inch wide paint brush will work also. Just dump glue in various spots & spread it out as you go.
omg thank you! puzzle glue seems to not work very well for me and I do puzzles all the time. also the glue doesn't keep very long once opened. I'm going to try this!
I have this puzzle, and it also took me longer than expected to put it together 🤣 I watched your video because I am also researching how to glue a puzzle together without actual puzzle glue or mod podge. A friend recommended the mod podge, but I am struggling to find it (I live in South Africa), except online and it is a little pricey. I have seen online that you can use watered down school glue and that is pretty much what mod podge is, so thank you for this video. I have a 2000 piece puzzle I want to glue until it is rock solid, since framing something that big would be expensive and heavy. As a side note, I've framed a couple of smaller puzzle, and I didn't glue them. I just carefully flipped them over and used a crisscross pattern of painters tape to hold them together. Much faster and easier than the gluing videos I've seen, and works beautifully if they are going into a frame anyway. I saw this technique on a channel called KarenPuzzles.
Thank you very much for a very informative and useful piece of information. I have the same frame and the same problem with having to center it on the backing paper. My only question is do most of the people posting not have tables? It seems like most work on the floor. Thank you

You really needed to pour it on in the center and work your way out.. you did not use enought glue. Yours wasnt even glued together. Really not a good job at all.
@@zengrath It doesn't ruin it. In this video when he suggested to use Elmer's glue and that's probably not your best be but I would suggest using puzzle glue that is dedicated specifically for puzzles. It's not that it will "ruin your puzzle" but using puzzle glue will give it a more glossy look.
