GLUTE MACHINE / TUTORIAL FOR BEGINNERS
In this video I will be showing you an in depth instructional video on the GLUTE MACHINE.
This machine is specifically designed to strengthen and tone your glutes, by engineering movement that totally isolates gluteal, hamstring and quadriceps muscles.
1. Start with your head looking forward and the bend of the knees with a 90-degree angle between the hamstrings and calves.
2. Exhale as you lift your leg, until the hamstrings are in line with your back.
3. Contract the glutes throughout this movement and hold the contraction at the top for a second.
4. Go back to the initial position as you inhale.
Side Note: At the end of the movement the upper leg should be parallel to the floor while the calf should be perpendicular to it.

This is my favorite exercise machine. I find it more satisfying than anything else. In fact, I'm now looking for a place that sells them. I found one such machine, a rebuilt one, for $3,000+. but that's not for me. I need something with a price in the three digit range. Three thousand? I like it, but I'm not crazy or wealthy. Oh, yes, there is another issue: it's durability. The machine at the Y kept breaking down and would take days, even weeks, to get. it repaired. Is this machine prone to such breakdowns? If the Y with all of its leverage, can't get quick repairs, I have to think that my cries for help would go unheeded for a very long time.Come to think of it, I remember the same problem with a leg press machine at the community college I attended. That was another favorite of mne, especially since I was so good at it. However, when a belt broke, the machine was out of action for the rest of the semester. It seems that durability is one of the most important things to consider when selecting a machine.

What's the foot position (lower center, center, etc...)and does changing foot position work more hamstring?

You have to slow the movement down and mentally focus on your glute pushing that weight behind you... and don't use too much weight at first, focus on the movement itself more.

I searched for this because I used this machine today and it made me feel sick, it was putting pressure on my stomach. As I drank lot of water before, it didn't feel good. I didn't know you could adjust that part. I see you are barely touching it. I'll try again next time.

Our LA Fitness had this amazing machine, but then replaced it with some new cheap plastic machine that does NOTHING. :-(
