Gluten-free bread! High-protein and very easy to make!

Have you noticed that some foods are accidentally vegan? This high protein bread is one of those foods - easy to make, simple and few ingredients and extremely versatile, you are going to love making it, and even better, you're going to love to enjoy it!
INGREDIENTS:
120g chickpea flour
320g water
1 teaspoon salt
black pepper to taste
a handful of fresh or dried oregano (or any other herb of your choice)
1 onion, thinly sliced
40g olive oil
METHOD:
Add the chickpea flour and water to a bowl or blender and mix or blend it until smooth.
Remove the foam with the help of a colander
cover the bowl and put it in the fridge for about 4 hours or overnight
Add the remainder of the ingredients, and stir to combine
Grease a baking sheet and pour the batter in, distributing the onions around the baking sheet and bake it in a preheated oven at 200c / 392F for about 20 minutes.

I can’t tell you how grateful I am for this! I decided to go gluten free this month to help with my sinuses problems, but I love bread…😭 I can’t wait to try this out! Thank you Chef Jana!

It really IS delicious, I can confirm ; ). Just had it recently as Socca (it's the same as Farinata, that's just the name for it in Southern France) and it was so good that I instantly prepared another bigger batch for the next day. I did it with onions as well, oregano and thyme. And you're right, it is so incredibly easy to make, yet super tasty *and* healthy.

This reminds me of the Indian flatbread called pudla except it’s made on the stove. No overnight soaking but it sits for a few mins to an hour to thicken up. Just chickpea flour, water, veggies and seasonings to make a batter then pan fry like pancakes. I like your recipe as the oven is easier. Gonna try it this weekend. Interesting how recipes are similar in different regions.

I make something similar but add diced tomatoes, olives, peppers, garlic, onions, and pizza seasoning, and once it's almost done baking, I top it with some homemade vegan cheeze sauce for a quick and easy pizza type meal.

I have started to use new shower caps as bowl covers because the sets of bowl covers that one can buy never include ones large enough for mixing bowls. I've heard of farinata but I've ever made it--I always end up making Provençale socca instead--so this is my chance to try it. Loved the jazzy music in this one; thanks for posting : )

Cheff Jana, there was a large study quite recently done and the participants were split into 2 groups, the 1st group ate lentils, dried beans and peas, chickpeas and soy beans not soaked except for softening. The 2nd group ate food soaked for at least 8 hours. Results showed conclusively the 1st group retained much more nutrients than the 2nd group. I will see if I kept the info and share to this video if OK with you.

I searched my files but appears I don't have the email the study was linked to. I am still going through their Web page to find it there but they gave a LOT. Love the shower cap trick just genius, bought 2 & have in kitchen drawer. I love the Gluten Free recipes keep them coming. I have recently had to go Gluten Free was having issues from it ( not realising it was Gluten causing the issues) Have lost 5kg or 11lbs in 8 weeks since G-F no more bloating pain etc. Just getting into Chick pea Flour recipes, even hubby is enjoying my Gluten-free meals . Tonights dinner with Caponata on top Would you thinly slice raw potato and use or par boil / boil potato & mix in ?

I don't know why but my chickpea flour always tastes so strong in a bad way.. do you think this step of hydrating it and removing the foam will make it taste better? Thank you so much Jana for all your videos and creativity

You have a point here which I have never considered however, in this recipe, where I coincidentally, soaked the chickpeas flour, the taste came out much milder so the soaking process could have had an influence to the end result 😀

The Title of the video is misleading because Jana is using gram flour (chickpeas) so technically it's not flourless. Apart from that it's another great recipe video Chef Jana.

It's loosely termed chickpea flour/besan flour made from the chickpea/garbanzo. Same with almond flour, lentil flour etc. But the outcome of this recipe looks yummy! Enjoy.
