I am KILLING 1200s with the hippo now. Not because I'm good at chess or that I even know the opening that well. It's mainly because the opening takes quite a while to set up so they get impatient and do something dumb before I even get castled 😂

I've been watching the whole series and this is by far straight savage.

One of my favorite positions of the hippo is when you get to bust out that knight to G3 for white or B6 for black and start attacking after your opponent castles. That resignation with the quasi- queen fork, tho 😂

im playing the hippo and in most cases the two middle pawns push down the middle making it uncomfortable, this doesnt happen in erics games so much.

Eric! Great stuff. Also, I think I may have spotted a slight flaw in your hippo opening as black. Sometimes, when playing black and the opponent starts with e4 or d4, you do the fianchetto the wrong bishop. The hippo opening wants to double fianchetto, but that can't be done if you start with the wrong side and if white does a fianchetto. For example, if white starts with e4, you should should fianchetto the king side bishop first. This would gain one tempo in the "fianchetto race" as black, which would guarantee the double fianchetto. Of course, this does not work if white starts with g3 or b3.

We all love the hippo, and obviously new magnus content is so exciting. But I haven’t been able to sleep in months! If only something new and relaxing was out there

Lux1200 (game at 21:00), from move 16 and on, all of his moves were top stockfish moves till the end. Just saying...Ok a blunder is a blunder, but a 2900 GM can easily recover from that when playing a 1900 player...Also 90% accuracy against Eric... Meaning he played the opening by himself and then turned on the autopilot...

check the ELO difference. this is going up against goliath. thanks to mr. hansen nowadays even over 2000 i dont panic, I stopped panicking. hit them with 10 solid moves from the word go then after that ... as we say in Africa ... its delicious bananas and mangoes :D
