What happened here seems to be clear. Chessbrah offers a draw, hikaru premixed and so it was auto declined. Hikaru then offers draw immediately and waits for it to be accepted and runs out of time. Chessbrah didn't see the draw offer and is confused about why Hikaru let his time run out. Hikaru assumed he did it on purpose and is pissed off by what he sees as a dirty tactic to get a win. Then everyone in the comment section pretends like hikaru is just a hypocrite because their bias blinded them to what actually occured.

Hikaru just can't be in the right here. The real problem is that Eric has really improved over the years, and Hikaru's idea of Eric is that he is simply inferior, incapable of beating him and only able to when it's by factors outside of the chessboard. By stating this win as part of a failure to uphold sportsmanship on Eric's part really shows how insecure Hikaru can be when in comes to his image as an unbeatable chess god. Even if Eric had purposely ignored the draw offer , it wouldn't be in the wrong since no rules were broken, but the fact that Eric did in fact offer him a draw shows that Eric did in fact uphold sportsmanship, even in the time trouble under the risk that the opposite could've happened where he was the one who would lose on time. It's reinforced even more by the fact Hikaru has done this in the past as a legitimate tactic of his own. Hikaru may have been able to save his reputation as a chess player by reacting like this, but in doing so , he ruined his image as a person. outside the realms of chess. It's actually quite toxic how Hikaru could turn an insignificant game into a world of controversy just because of his insecure nature.

Irrespective of who is right or wrong, I can't imagine running to someone's chat and embarrassing myself by donating bits to parrot what another streamer is saying. Like dude are you his lapdog?
