I love you man but Tesla is the gold standard when it comes to electric. Other companies didn't take it seriously. They just took advantage of tax payer money and didn't deliver anything as good as a Tesla. It's sad. Don't force TVs, let the market decide. I think it's going to be ugly for EV owners in the future as everyone (consumers, oil companies and other businesses) turn on them. You see them turn on Elon as soon as he didn't go with the woke narrative. If you are a home owner, go electric.

Scotty, retired USAF military officer. in 2016 everyone on our base had to fill out a form detailing which and what types of vehicles and how many miles we drove to work. The base had to figure up its carbon footprint. We flew tankers on the base which take off with about 54,000 gallons of jet fuel! You can't make this crap up. Ridiculous.

No one has ever answered this for me: What do people in cities do, when everyone has an EV, and ICE vehicles are outlawed, as far as charging? Does everyone who lives in an apartment, and parks on the street, run an extension cord across the sidewalk to their EV? How is that going to work?

The Dems are trying to legislate cars out of American cities. Here in New York, the state just gave the city rights to set speed limits so now there is a proposal to limit speed on city streets to 10/20/25. Only streets with 3-lanes of traffic each direction would be allowed to be 25, everything else 10/20. As you can imagine it’s gonna be very profitable for the city and nearly impossible for drivers to stay under 20

Scotty is right about GM discontinuing cars that sell. They previously said they were going to discontinue the Cruse too. It is really popular and they sold lots of them to people on fixed incomes and newer NASCAR drivers because they were cheap and easy to fix. There are Cruses out there with 300 thousand miles. Not bad for a throw away car.

My car charges up in my garage overnight or while I'm at my office. I pay $30 a month to drive 1000 miles. I don't waste time on oil changes and don't spend 3 minutes ever charging my car. You just don't get it.

@@jonathanabramsonYeah, my friend in Macon, GA has owned three electric vehicles, all Nissan Leaf’s. She charged overnight in her garage. She got a 30% discount on her energy bill for owning an electric vehicle. She basically just drove it to work and local errands but it worked for her. But she did say those early Leaf’s lost battery/mileage capacity over time.

As far as i am concerned, Chrysler is already dead. I have a different model of one of those vacuums. Not only does it have a hard time finding its way back to the charger but it's autopilot is too dumb to back it out of a area it gets stuck in, which is quite often. Sort of like a Tesla. By the way the vacuum is my wife's idea not mine.🙄

Folks. Econoboxes are not big on profit , but they make up in volume. Opel sold under the Chevrolet badge tons of their models in Brazil , a country where entry level four bangers are moved into hundreds of thousands. The Old GM Kadett and Corsa were hotcakes. The long discontinued Corsa , a 2-4 door hatch or mini sedan running in either a 1,000 cc or 1,300 cc. A gas miser who would not quit.

A month age I read that the current estimate of US recoverable oil reserves is 56 bill. barrels. We pump 4 bill. barrels a year. some of it is shipped overseas. 56/4 is 14 years. Glad I am an old man.

Maintaing an ICE car will become very expensive. Some large cities will prohibit using it. They are now putting laws about ICE cars noise in those large cities.

The problem is that fuel prices could get so high we can no longer justify sticking with gas engine vehicles, and their market value when try to dispose them will accordingly tank. We know from the history of hybrids that buying trends are very sensitive to gas prices. Should expect the same for EVs.

The highly affluent gated community where I work has a sizeable number of Tesla owners. These cars were bought largely as status symbols, to replace the BMWs, Mercedes and Audis they had previously owned. I know several who had bought their Teslas a few years ago who are now planning to go back to ICE vehicles.

@@jonathanabramson yep..but you know to get these credits of 7 to 9k you have to owe at least that in taxes on income after deductions AGI. 28k income is untaxed (std deductions) 15% for the next bracket..so gross income must be 100k+ to get the credit. It is specifically aimed at upper middle class professionals as are the solar panel and window credits and the Star appliance credits. The low end working stiff think they get $7k off but they may not. However the Tesla Y and 3 have become plumber and electrician cars for their spouses. Plumber bling.

That is true you do not get range anxiety because your battery is constantly being charged anytime you slow down. Plug-in vehicles are 80% less reliable than gas and hybrids are 25% more reliable than gas. This is based on surveys of problems and repairs done on vehicles.

Talking of pollution what do you think about all the chemicals trail crap going on, I thought it was bad in Cali. Visited Nevada for a few days and it’s ten times worst. Can’t imagine all the fuel it takes to run those plans spraying all the crap all day long. I literally saw the morning sky clear with no forecast for clouds and the chem trails begin and by 2pm it’s over cast and cloud don’t even look real.

Hydrogen is a myth for passenger vehicles. To heavy of a tank needed, very low efficient and uses a lot more energy to create than gas for the ICE engine.

I drove a company car for where I worked in Mill Valley, California; the Hyundai Nexo hydrogen fuel cell car. I really liked the car. It had some serious pick up. Fueling it was quite the project though. The car will tell you where the hydrogen fuel stations are. There was one in Mill Valley. If memory serves, the vehicle took 4 liters to fill to a full tank. I think each liter cost $25. It took a solid 45 minutes to put the 4 liters in. Now I don’t know if maybe I was fueling it wrong so it took that long to be full. I don’t think I was. Cost $100 to fill and it got about 360 miles. That cost is double my gasoline powered SUV. I’m not for or against, but the experience left me feeling that the hydrogen fuel cell is mainly for very wealthy people who are willing to pay double in order to save the environment.

No it is not. H2 fuel cels are promoted by the oil industry since they believe H2 will be made by the mixture of Ch4 and water wapor in a reaction involving high tempersture and an expensice catalyst. The can make gasoline and HH2 at their existing facilities and sell both with a huge profit. Since you need energy to get H2 a lot of the gains of H2 are consumed obtaining it. Then it has to be compresed at 10,000 psi, piut into your car at the same 10,000 psi, and used in the FC to produce electridity to make the motors run. Unsing electricity directly to charge the battery is way more efficient (4 times). H2 charging stations tend to burn thenselves, and they are being closed due to economic loss .

Not to mention has much less power than gasoline and would take many, many years to build out an infrastructure, unlike electric and charging, which is already here and only increasing in access.

From WC, Scotty I have a 2003 Ford Ranger, 4 cylinder 5 speed with 60000 + miles and a 2005 Honda CR-V 4 cylinder with auto transmission also with 60000 + miles, both still look good and both are long ago payed for! They both go to my super independent mechanic when they need an oil change or other work to keep them road worthy! $29.00 each for a tag for a year and I think about 500 to 600 each for Insurance plus about the same to fix whatever might be needing fixing! My kids are all paying $1000.00 or more per month for their vehicles that might be paid off in 4 or 5 years! So I’m good, thanks for all the good info over the years Scotty!!!

Another thing about EVs , is they suck when under heavy load or in adverse conditions, in every load test against a comparable ICE powered vehicle, the EVs failed miserably! This does not have ramifications for just people that tow , have big family’s , but it has huge ramifications for commercial vehicles that need range, and they also need load capacity to get the job done, and to make a buck. EVs have a very narrow use case , but stupid politicians just so ignorant they do not realise, in many situations EVs just do not work and are clearly inferior to what we already have in ice powered vehicles.

I recently had the oil changed at my local GM dealership. They had a new disclaimer that they are now charging an extra 3% for credit card transactions. Then, they went on to tell me that I will probably need the brakes redone the next time I go in. They quoted me $800, plus miscellaneous fees, plus 8.75% sales tax, plus 3% for using a credit card. I guess they aren't selling enough cars anymore. Incidentally, they had a few of the electric Cadillac "crossover" SUVs on the lot. Only $75,000+.
