So, you are faced with diagnosing a stored a code P050D. It means that the powertrain control module (PCM) has detected a rough engine idle during cold start. ... Engine RPM is monitored (by the PCM) using data input signal voltage from the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor and the camshaft position (CMP) sensor. Time to replace your high fuel pressure injectors.

I pulled my injectors and took them to a diesel injector service shop and had them ultrasonically cleaned. Done. Runs like new. Cheap alternative.

I have a 2015 Chevy Silverado and my problem was the same code but cylinder three was a misfire I replace the coil pack and mine was fixed.

The problem is consistent with GDI engines because the injector tip is inside the combustion chamber and gets carbon deposits clogging or interfering with the stream. Thats why 2 things are imperative .. Routinely use GDI cleaning through intake manifold, use top tier fuel and a fuel additive like Chevron Techron Fuel injector cleaner regularly. It should be noted that its usually not the injector thats bad its most likely the nozzles are dirty. Most injectors will clean up and can be reused if done right.

I have the p050D code and My mechanic told me it was my remote controls battery being low that couldn’t start the engine. He said to replace battery, not sure if that’s true because the problem came back and now I have a check engine light again with a new battery on fob

Help me P05D P0300 No. 8 misfired, but now No. 1 and No. 7 AFM lifter has been replaced I tried replacing the IG coil, but there is no problem. The engine shakes and makes noise like a tick No bend in pushrod what's wrong? ?

Did any of you guys who did this fix use GM or aftermarket injectors? I found complete sets of GM injectors but none of them are the same p/n as the factory injector. They look exactly the same..... are they ok to use? or different flow rates?

I have a 2016 Sierra 5.3. The dealer said injectors 1,3 and 8 were bad, but best to replace all of them. That I agree with. GM Tech-link says I have 3 different injectors installed, low flow, normal flow, and high flow. I read on GM tech-link, that if the injector order were mixed up, the normal flow injector could be installed for all 8 injectors, but you could have fuel trim and emission problems. Does it really make a difference?

@@ironheadhooligan long story. The book says three different injectors are needed or youy fuel trim will be wrong. You need low flow, normal flow and high flow fuel injectors per the GM repair manual. I could not find which injector I needed two of per bank. My fault cleared up when it warned up outside. I got the fault in December, I live in Georgia. I also ran several tanks of the large bottles of gum out fi cleaner for GDI engines. I put 2 bottles per tank for 3 times. The random misfire fault has not come back. The bad idle fault has come back a few times. I run several bottles of gum out and it clears up. The fi cleaner needs to have PEA in it. I use it on a regular basis. Has been 30,000 miles since fault cleared. If you do replace your fuel injectors, the book says replace all of the hard fuel lines to prevent a possible fuel leak. There is over 3,000 psi on fuel line. GM parts giant online had the best price.

@@Z1snowman I went back to go over the injectors I have…I bought mine at rock auto..and the thing is that when ur choosing the injector is says…this will fit injector marked with…..# ….so depends on the # that is marked on the injector is what u buy…and they have the normal high or low kinds..the thing is to remember where they go if they r different..I’m my case…2015 gmc Yukon xl Denali 6.2…all the injectors had the same # on them…hope that helps anyone

Did you also have stabilitrack service, abs and traction off with the check engine light I have a 2.0t ATS have loss of power while driving running rough when breaking car jerks changed all sparks coils and vvt valves nothing helped let me know thanks

I had that happen and it was a bent rod. It was covered under the power train warranty. Took them a month to get that parts. That was in Nov. of 2019 on a 2015 GMC Sierra 1500.

I keep hearing that the S rail needs to be replaced as well when doing injectors due to leaks if reused. Is this true ? Have you had any fuel leaks since ? Please confirm

I think they just recommend this in order for there not to be a failure. I haven't heard of them leaking after injectors have been replaced.

do you have a good scan tool? usually you can find history on misfire for a particular cylinder. I found 690 misfires on cylinder 6 of my 2015 suburban. 😅

Just so everyone knows, I'm currently getting new injectors and I notice the wire harness is all dry out to the point there was no rubber on the wire all crumbled out, I'm thinking the misfires have something to do with this issue since bare wire touching each other, good luck

Had to purchase them directly from GM. Unfortunately they cant look them up by VIN you have to remove them & give them the part number listed on the injector. They have like 6 different ones that fit this engine so it’s crucial you get the right one. I believe they were like around $80 each

@@JJBanuelos ok cool, that's what I was thinking but I'm over working on it for today lol. It's been a headache trying to figure out what's going on with it. Pulled all the new plugs back out and found a spark plug that had the porcelain cracked so I replaced that one and cleared the codes but it was still misfiring. Gonna try new wires tomorrow because I bought the set at O'Reillys and I'm thinking I should've just got some from the chevy dealer.

@@mattwalker2885 Yes, after researching it, one issue suggested it could be the intake air filter. I was inclined to believe it as I was not getting any misses so I thought that could rule out the coil packs and injectors. I replaced the air filter and it's been fine ever since.

Man, I just had a conversation with a dealer tech, he said just use Chevron Techron regularly and it will clean the injectors and it won’t set the codes....

It's should be a recall since they told him "all" chevy trucks with this injectors are doing it. I have that code and my truck has 34k miles thus far. Another think if there recommending that bg cleaner i can just do that instead of replacing them ....?

@@JJBanuelos update, I got my bg 44k bottle earlier today from Amazon, I had the gas gage just a tad above the empty red line. I drained the additive before fueling about 18 gallons of 93, haven't gotten the c.e.l (Check Engine Light) since. Im still keeping an eye on it tho, truck sits at 34k miles fyi. I recommend to whomever is reading this comment to start of with the simplest fixes or options before doing the big job and spending $$$...🙏

Has anyone tried fixing it with a chemical injector cleaning? I used to use MotorVac equipment that worked incredibly well on all vehicles, especially GM 5.3L trucks that always had this issue.

Had a Motorvac done today. Completely fixed the P050D cold start misfire!!! Way more throttle response. $150 repair. Service advisor knew why I wanted the injector cleaning and told me they had to do a full diagnostic etc etc I said no thanks, just clean my injectors. I'm finishing it up tomorrow by spraying with combustion chamber cleaner and then replacing plugs to finish the job.

Bob, I am not familiar with the Motorvac. Did you have to pull the injectors yourself or does the Motorvac clean them while they are in the vehicle?

@@alwaysbrothersinc google Motorvac carbon clean. It’s a machine that they hook up and run the engine on. They disconnect the supply and return lines at the engine and the machine supplies the fuel.

@@steviemccormick3762 the injector cleaning only worked for a few weeks. The injectors all had to be replaced unfortunately. The truck has worked perfect ever since for close to a year.

My Dealer replaced 3 injectors for a cold start rough idle on on 6.2L 2017 a couple weeks ago now i have a improper air fuel balance and they say all 8 injectors are bad even the 3 brand new ones. I use primarily chevron gas. After all my transmission issues (updates, re-learns and rumble strip shake from bad tranny oil) there is no way my silverado will be reliable after the warranty is up.

Unfortunately you have to remove your injector to get a part number off of there. Even the dealer can’t get you the correct one by vin. They have like 6 different ones

I just did a 2015 chevy Silverado with the 5.3 has 51,000 miles on it and I played hell for 3 hours on each side to get the fuel rails / injectors out ... you must have edited the crap out of that video

@@jermioh they make a special tool to remove them but I didn't have one, so I used a 4ft pry bar and keep wiggling them till they came out... it was a pain in the butt ... if I was gonna pull the injectors I would recommend replacing all of them because there's a chance some of them will break in the process

Not all 8 failed but GM recommended we replace them all. Could have just done the ones that have been Mia-firing but then we might be doing the rest soon.
