Funniest thing about playing Dutch at beginner/early intermediate level is that people assume you are just pushing random pawns

10:30 - what if white bishop takes e5 first instead of the knight? can't see how that tactic would work?

Very nice to see you play human opponents at last. I thought Ba3 might have been a stronger try after he played b3. At least put some pressure on the weak e6 point...

I love the Naroditsky speedrun, potentially a bit more instructive, but Simon somehow makes players of this rating look far weaker than Danya's opponents. Cracking stuff matey

i wonder simon had he taken with the bishop first on at e5 instead of the knight wouldnt that put him up a pawn? his knight then would cover the g4 square. i think ultimately the lost of that bishop would hurt him in the endgame with having no control over the dark squares. but it is interesting.

If bishop takes, then Ng4 immediately and the tactic still works!

What if white had taken on e5 with their bishop first (instead of the knight)? Shouldn't it have been better this way around?
@vecritaemorph
@vecritaemorph Год назад
Doesn't matter, he simply plays Ng4 immediately, threatening checkmate and picks up the piece on e5 the next move, just like in the game

There's two things I hate. Playing as black... And the dutch
@howardgraff4084
@howardgraff4084 Год назад
There are some wonderful, interesting openings as black. The Old Indian against d4, and the Pirc against e4 are both very interesting but take some learning and some practice....(Carlsen and Danya re both exponents of the Pirc in rapid games.). However, I keep on toying with the idea of learning the Dutch...The GGM makes it look almost like a forced win against non-GM opponents!

Didn't you miss a mate on Queen h2t 11:23?
@howardgraff4084
@howardgraff4084 Год назад
No, GGM was in check himself at that point. If he had then played cxd5, then white can play h4 to stop the mate threat, or Qxd5ch for white, which later gives white the ability to take the queen back to g2 for defence. However, these would both have been better lines for the Ginger GM. I didn't understand why he refused the gift of the bishop on d5...
@cfreddy24
@cfreddy24 Год назад
I’m a little confused why he didn’t take the light squared bishop as well on d5. Maybe because after cxd5 white plays Qxd5 with check, also defending the dark squared bishop on e5 so black is still only up one piece if knight takes bishop. And white can still desperado sac the bishop on g7 getting two pawns for the piece with black king exposed and white Queen very active

Oh no I need to make the same mistake a good five or six times over a period of some weeks before the lesson solidifies. Especially so if it's something that doesn't happen that often and I forgot all about it when it comes around again.

Im curious what if he took the pawn with the bishop, after BxB it would end up with NxB so the trick of double attack doesnt work because the Knight defend himself. That would be a pawn up for white, isnt it?
@cfreddy24
@cfreddy24 Год назад
I think if white took with the bishop first on e5, then you just start with Ng4 threatening checkmate on h2 and double attacking the bishop on e5. Then after white defends checkmate with h3 or h4 you just capture with the knight on e5 and black is up the piece

funny thing is not that funny thing is Bd5+ by white can be simply met by c pawn takes bishop. I think both player missed that simple capture

I have never really had a desire to study or play the dutch, and have only ever looked at general ideas of the dutch, in case i play an opponent who plays it against me, i wanted to know the general ideas of things to be able to try to either create complications or to move order into systems i have played or studied more in depth, depending on what opportunities i see within a game. However, after seeing two videos in this series, i definitely have more knowledge of the system than i previously had, so your video was definitely appreciated
