I'd like to compose my email above the most recent message in the thread... not below it. Is there a way? you can 1) choose "pop out reply" 2) show trimmed content... but is there a way to get this by default? Thx

That was helpful. Thank you. What brought me to this video is my inquiry about sorting emails. Until recently, I was using Outlook but was forced to sign in to gmail via Google and everything changed. I want to be able to sort my entire inbox, all at once, by sender so that I can easily clean up and delete older emails in batches by sender. So far all that's offered is the ability to sort by one sender at a time. If you've got several hundred emails to clean up, this is highly inefficient and a lot of people are really miffed about this. I find it so annoying I'm about ready to cancel my gmail account and switch to Yahoo since they provide this function.

Thanks for pointing out gmail threading options. I've been using Gmail for several years and my inbox has been threading for most all that time. I find it's to difficult to find the one email I need when a client keeps reusing the same thread that gets to be 20, 30 or more. Unthreading them will help me isolate the one I need. I just needed a refresher in where to find this setting.

You do a great job ! However, I am 'stuck' with something. When i go into "All Mail", I want to put one of those emails into a label. I click on it or drag there and it's all fine. Now, since I have it in my label, if i go back to ALL MAIL and delete it from there, it also deletes out of the label. I don't want to have it in both places,(All Mail & in my Label), just in my label where i can find it later ( like in outlook) How can i fix this from being deleted out of the label ?.

But when I have 52 messages in a labeled thread they don’t appear chronologically. the first newest message will be the top of the pain, but as I scroll down, it goes forward in time if I scroll up, it goes up backwards in time I want the newest conversations always on top and only have to go on One Direction to find the next conversation or the older conversation. Hello there I did enjoy the video, but it doesn’t cover what I need. I have just been put on gmail & would like to change the email screen to look more like outlook. I am in my mid 80’s & don’t have a techy brain. I would like the screen on the left to have the inbox pane I think you called it with inbox - sents - bin etc - then next to that I would like my emails latest on the top - I would like from here to be able to click (for example) the top email to read it & reply if need be. Just a plain & simple screen. Is this all a possibility to obtain or am I wishful thinking. melissa, i just migrated from outlook to gmail and "migrated" my mail folders. gmail put them in a "personal" folders group but now i can't move them under the "inbox" or i don't know how to get rid of the default "inbox" and have the new mail go to the "personal folders/inbox" that was migrated from outlook. any help doing either or both of these seemingly easy tasks. i have tried to edit and "nest under" the main inbox but doesn't seem to do anything (doesn't show under the "inbox" heading on the left. thanks, Mark

Thank you for making your video available. Nonetheless, I'm not sure if someone who receives 10 or 20 emails each day needs such a sophisticated system. I enjoy doing things on my own. Why should we rely so heavily on technology when I can and enjoy checking 100 emails in a minute? Despite its amazing performance, Gmail does not inform you of the size of your email in kilobytes. That is just what I need.

Do you know what happened to gmail on Fire Tablet? You cannot access the settings wheel to change back to original view. All you can get is a small view and not all emails in inbox. What you show is only for a computer and it is okay there but just changed on the tablet.

The title is misleading . While organizing typically means having everything in the right place for ease of understanding and access which if translated to emails means grouping emails, making folders and so on . Everything in this video is only about the appearance settings. While the video is informative its time spent on something that one is not looking for.
