It's like watching a remake of home improvement Except Phil is Wilson. Wilson is filmed from the eyes up Phil is filmed from the neck down 😆😆😆 good video
Hats off to Phil. Cant be easy being at a new shop anyway, but when its got a celebrity owner like Eric O and you have to not look like a rookie it must be intimidating, good job
I heard Luna 🌜🐈in the background as you were placing the pump in ... definitely giving you commands or just wants food 🤣 Vinnie is just chillin and great camera📷 footage and the disappearing Edsel sweet ride.✌️✌️✌️✌️
You are the man. I wish I had a person here who I could take my cars to for repair . Most of the shops here are unreliable for repairs here. You don't know who to trust on your cars.
Phil walked away and i said to myself watch the teacher went to check the old one to see where the plug went. I could hear my old man telling me to not throw out the old part until you prove the new one works, that was 50 years ago when we thought we were getting good parts, now we get one size fits all and his sage advice still applies. Good video and good advice !
I had the Wonky Fuel Gauge Syndrome on Her Ladyships Montana. GM rigorously deny any wrongdoing and blame the fuel which damages the Potentiometer tracks, giving false readings and if left too long will require pump replacement. Got some gas cleaning juice from the dealership and it fixed it. . Very thorough diagnosis. Impressive
Imagine a concrete pumper but instead of cement, it's hooked up to a Taylor icecream machine! LOL.. not everyday...but thanks for the hard work and solution to that fuel issue!
Right where you and Phil are working on the tank together, you look like stunt doubles for each other! Same outfit all the way down, same pepperpot beard... Just the tattoos difference from what we saw so far, it'd be a tough game of Guess Who!
I'm always amazed by the rusted out undersides of the cars and trucks you works on. I wonder, have you ever told a customer their vehicle is so rusted out you wouldn't work on it? More, they should stop driving it?
Do you remember the show UP and the dog in it and what he did every time he saw a squirrel. That’s what I like about you bud. Have a great day enjoy watching your channel
Eric you got eyes behind your head ...that Edsel pulled away as you spook...dude... you sure you're not from another planet? Great video and thanks Phil for doing the dirty work!
Glad to see that Phil is not in the witness protection program, ha ha. I was beginning to wonder whether he is another neighbor Wilson from 'Home Improvement', peeking over the fence and mumbling wise advice.
Lol Eric when you said you were going to run the fuel level sensor wire through the "Chinese finger" I laughed I think you were trying to refer to a finger trap lol.
I see... you short it out and you're a diag wizard. I short it out and I'm a hack mechanic. Why you gotta be like that Mama? Vinny is like a member of the cast that us long time viewers will never forget. Kinda like Hannah and Marie, or Trinity when she'd just come out in the shop and stare at the camera. Gosh, I've been coming to this watering hole a long time!
For many years I did all the mechanical type work. I admitted that when electrical and real problems other than mechanical came up I wasn’t the guy in the shop for that. I could read voltage and do an ohm test. We all appreciate your hard work to make these videos Eric! A lot of the electrical testing and things of that nature you show on your channel may be common sense to you but some of us it is not. Thank you again! God bless SMA!!
Another RU-vidr pulled the tank in a GM vehicle with lots of gas recently. He and his helper dropped the tank. You were right in sending the truck home to run the gas level down. Smart thinking!
Changing a fuel pump can solve a lot of issues, and you correctly mentioned the main diagnosis which is checking pressure at the fuel rail. I'll mention comparing your o-ring sizes since I got a (non-oem) pump with a ring that didn't fit and wasted a lot of time trying to force the new pump in there without any luck.
I just about blew a fuse because there is ANOTHER new SMA video, and we got to see Phil, but then you went and did it for me! Thanks Mr O and thanks Phil!
Prolly just the front wheel bearing’s looking at the cars you have come in you don’t have Michigan rust. Just changed one last night on mine. Wasn’t making noise yet but bad speed sensor and when I pulled it it was grimy in there. It’s 4 more bolts and about 40 bucks more just to put in a new wheel bearing. But thinking of breaking my personal rule and only replacing one. Replaced them both roughly 3 years ago 35k miles. Good luck beating those things out. You can always get the wheel bearing out of the Knuckle getting the cv shaft out of the bearing can be a pain. Only had to get the torch out on one. Most of the time a puller and some hard but precise hammer swings will get them apart. Great videos as always.
That odd pipe thing over the building being built is a concrete pump truck. You dump from the concrete truck into the pump truck and the pump truck can place the concrete almost anywhere, but it makes that truck kind of complex and expensive. I also just replaced a GM Savana fuel pump. GM was nice enough to put 3 connections where you can reach and most of the others with enough play that you can drop the tank to reach them, except one, which barely gave you room to work and I couldn't get it off anyway because the quick connect fitting was stuck on and didn't come off as simple as it went on.
I just wanted you to know that you have got to be the best at figuring out what is wrong with a vehicle! Been watching for a few years, actually started watching when I got my first Honda....few hours ago for sure. Like to get a chance to chat with you one day. I'm a veteran living in my Chevy express with my cat Jake. Got electrical issues with the old girl, she's a 98 with a 305 sure would love to get your opinion on the old girl. Anyway I love your channel and keep up the excellent work!!
This brings back an old horror story from the 80's for me. Way before cell phones came out I broke down in the middle of no where because the fuel pump went out on me. It was the middle of August and over 100 degrees in humid south Georgia and I had a suit on because I just attended a buddy of mine's wedding. I must have walked five miles before someone finally stopped, the road I was on was very rural out in the county and hardly traveled on by autos. I probably lost six pounds that day!
I almost crashed due to a fuel pump. Driving 80 mph on the freeway, then exit. Let off the fuel and hit the brakes a little bit. Try to hit the brakes again to slow down for a left turn and no more vacuum assist or power searing. Look at the tac and had nothing! Damned near hit the concrete bridge guards to keep people from going over the bridge. Put the truck in neutral to try to restart it, and nothing. Truck comes to a stop on the bridge blocking the only west bound lane of a State highway. 110 degrees and it is about to rain in Casa Grande, Arizona. I'm driving a black truck too. I get out and go under the truck to smack the tank and few times, then restart it. Fuel pump fails again after just getting the truck moving a little bit. I put the truck in neutral and just barley perfectly park it at Dairy Queen. I spent 3 hours eating ice cream and root beer floats until a friend of a friend with a tow truck comes and gets me. Horrible!
I’m always being called to fix or trouble shoot by neighbor’s or customer’s . Farmer friend called mower wouldn’t start you guessed it 20 amp fuse was blown. Took me longer to find his mower in the barn than to fix it. 👍
Speaking of Edsels, over on Coldwarmotors, Dean own a '58 Edsel Ranger 4 door sedan that he bought I think from the original owner I think last year and all it needed was some minor work and a tidy, but was all original, though it did look to have been repainted at one point, black with red accents. It has the Teletouch transmission selector as well (which got a good going over to get working right again). The host of CWM, Scott has 2 fury 2 doors, both with the continental "tire" piece on the trunk, one a soft yellow original 1959, and a two tone metallic blue and white 60 that he's in the midst of finishing up its restoration, and it got a full frame drive line swap, new metal shaped and grafted on to repair massive weight reduction, along with body parts of at least 2 donor cars to restore it (it sat in a horse pasture for years so was badly rusted). The car is almost complete now. The frame and drive train came from a running 60 Dart 4 door post, who's frame is the exact same as the Fury's. Anyway, the seats are slowly being put back in, recovered and all that and it currently sports a 318 poly motor with pushbutton automatic. While the one at the post office in this video was a survivor, but looked to be straight, still fun to see those on the road every so often. As for your repair, all is well, and as usual, you did a masterful job on it.
Eric O: Any other video: "I'm not really sure what car that is, I'm not a car guy". Today: "Say hello to the Edsel", a car I have never even heard of before this video.
good videoand troubleshooting. looks like Phil is kneeling on a mat of some kind. if so kudos, at 73 and my knees are still working well i can attest to the usefulness of kneeling mats .
Phil has my vote too! 👍As you can see I came to see and saw that you were seeing what you saw and diagnosed, repaired and rocked it as always! Great video Eric! ✌
