I agree with Adam being over the whole car breakage/damage constantly. I reckon eventually you will also lose interest and get sick of it, and just sell the old Cruiser and stick to the Hilux just touring and enjoying scenery. We do mostly touring (on and offroad) and there's plenty of great fun to be had there without the other consequences. Personally I don't know that a ute is the most convenient and comfy for touring purposes (as you said yourself) but if that's what you're planning to stick with may as well make it as good as you can. Maybe a canopy. But basically I sold a ute after finding out how inconvenient it was and got a wagon which is miles better for our lifestyle and what we do / where we go. What did you end up connecting the earth to?

.q You don't need to run a earth to make something work in a circut. Earth is there to provide a fault path incase of short circut/dead short or accidental touch
