First time a came across your channel and exactly what I was looking for, informative and easy to follow instructions, definitely earned a like and subscribe from me 👌
its a bit nerve racking cutting a big hole in a good car measure twice remember you can cut a bit more off but its hard to put metal back on good luck regards mike
Running a holes backwards will overheat and stuff it. When drilling with both the holesaw and the step drill, run it up to speed before contacting the cutting surface to avoid it grabbing, pulsing the drill like that will overheat the motor and cause it to grab. Other than that thanks for letting me having a visual of the process beyond the instructions. Oh and don't use tin snips, they deform the panel
I need a more powerful drill but I don't often cut big holes in new cars with the snips they were new and I took small bites so they didn't mess the car side edge of the cut hope the video helps with all the small details regards Mike
Do you know how far the snorkel reaches above the roof? I have a demountable cabin with alcove and I´m wondering if the snorkel fits under it- Thank you for the great video!
Its hard to measure due to the curve in the roof so I measured from the top of the wing mirror its 37cm or 14 1/2 inches to the top of the ram head the snorkel sits forward's of the windshield by 28cm or 11 inches hope that helps
@@kisbushcraftdownunder That was as perfect answer, thank you so much!!!! (My alcove ends only a few cm in front of the top edge of the windshield. So the snorkel is far away from it in the horizontal direction, I didn´t think of that I only considered the potential vertical distance) :) Greetings to the other end of the world!
I have never had a problem with the filter getting wet the head of the snorkel removes some of the rain water and in the bottom of the air box are two drains one a small hole and the other a duck bill valve .Some people seal them up worried that water could get in during river crossing regards mike
I have no intention to modify the engine the Hilux air box works fine most custom boxes are about performance and don’t have a air spinner so wet filter do happen when driving through rain. For me reliability is paramount
I haven’t noticed any change but I not a hard driver no loss of fuel ⛽️ economy only downside is probably changing the air filter more often due to bugs
