We also mock up our BluePrint Engines 632ci BBC for the very first time to check fitment of the motor mounts oil pan and other things. Soon to come is the removal of the full body and getting the frame on a rotisserie so we can start prepping it for por15! We are glad you guys are here for the process! There’s a distinct difference in the kind of people who enjoy watching build videos and learning…vs the people who only show up for burnouts and breaking things. You’re our favorite kind of people 💪🏻 Channel merchandise here Stapletonautoworks.com

I've been a fan of your no BS attitude(s) and the warts and all approach you incorporate. So many channels on RU-vid that edit all the stuff ups out and make their lives appear so regal. It's so refreshing. And the direction this channel has kinda veered is perfect. You guys are killing it . I hope that your channel keeps on progressing and you can do all the builds you imagine.

Ah, screwup stories... Fun times. My best one must be when my sister bought an POS old Chevy Spark, and the radio trim piece kept falling off. I decided to help by just superglueing it in place, but the superglue ran and made a streak on the dash. Tried wiping with my fingers, leaving skin traces all over. Eventually got acetone which ate through the paint... I coloured it with a sharpie, but I still owe her a "new" dash till this day. Thank you guys for sticking to real, no BS, content. I'm not getting to every video unfortunately, but every time I manage to watch one it's like a breath of fresh air in the fakeness polluted world we live in. Much love from South Africa.

Always enjoy watching you guys work. Guaranteed good times. As far as rust on the 88-98 gmt400 trucks, i have 3 and they are not nearly as bad as the 2 99-06 gmt800 trucks i have. The earlier trucks had better rust protection and thicker sheetmetal compared to the 99-06 and later models. And as far as breaking things....its all part of the learning process. I have broken plenty of parts in my 35yrs messing around both on others and many times my own vehicles.

First lesson I learned the hard way when I started working on vehicles was unbolt the carb from the intake manifold before you start to disassemble it to swap out jets, floats or anything inside cause when those small pieces fall into the intake far enough you will then learn how to head gasket replacement to retrieve said small pieces hahaha!!!! 😂 It's part of learning

I was 18, my landlords brother had a workshop with a 4 post truck lift for his tractor unit. I had borrowed it to change the engine and gearbox in my 76 Ford Escort Estate. I had finished everything and was so pleased with myself that it ran, being the first swap I'd done on my own. The 4 post lift was for trucks and had a massive gap in the centre, the escort had a very narrow wheelbase and to get off the ramp without dropping a wheel down the centre gap I had to stay dead straight as I backed off. As I backed off, I looked in the mirrors and out the window, but I had no reference points as the ramp was in the centre of a massive barn. So, to get my bearings, I opened the door to look down at the edge of the ramp and kept backing up. As the back wheels rocked over onto the sloped ramps leading off the lift the momentum took over and the car rolled off the lift taking the door out of my hand as it hit the post. The drivers door was folded right back against the front wing (fender). This was my first car after passing my test, I was working on farms at the time so it wasn't exactly pretty, but I was gutted nonetheless. For anybody here from the UK, this was in 1993/4, so a Mk2 Escort estate was already becoming rare. But, as I discovered, Ford kept the Mk1 escort body shell for the Estate when they went to Mk2. So, I needed a Wing (Fender) and a Door for a Mk1 Escort, not an easy find in the scrap yards even then. I bought that car in '92 for £70 and the door and wing cost me £45 at the scrappie. I did my first welding on that car. We put old tyres and mattresses on the floor and against the barn wall and tipped the car on it's side with a forklift so I could plate the floor (This was before the ramp arrived). That car also made it on TV. I worked at Glastonbury Music Festival in 1995 and it was covered on the 2 big tv channels in the UK (BBC and Channel4). The car was bright Orange, with a blue door and grey wing so it stood out. I had a site pass so could drive through the site as needed, with a wobble light (amber beacon) on the roof. Oily Logan with a ratchet, kinda hot, NGL. Stapleton Calendar 2023?

Fun wrenching. I've broken all kinds of stuff on my truck while working on it. I dropped a fuel pump and a socket inside the gas tank. I also snapped the a/c evaporator off inside the cab. I'm kind of attached to this bodystyle because I used to watch Craftsman Truck series on Saturday mornings when I was a kid. All of that seemed so impossible back then but here we are, wrenching and building boom tubes.

I was 20 years old in '97, and the FNG at the stereo shop I was working at. I had very few tools, and what I did have was cheap junk. I was starting to install an amp and sub in a newish Benz 500SEL. Popped the hood to disco the battery. Grabbed the hunk o shit 1/4 drive ratchet and a deep 10mm. As I was reaching over the fender I somehow bumped the stupid release button, which dropped the socket on the top of the fender. Scratched and dented it of course. Cost me $900 to fix it. The Snap On truck showed up the next day since my boss was good freinds with him. I bought all new 1/4 and 3/8 drive sockets, ratchets, and extensions, and I still have them 25 years later.

Don't feel breaking things are normal. My first old truck, 1978 GMC square body. Took it down a back road and the back end launched and made a huge back. I thought I lost the drive shaft, but look in the side mirrors and saw my wheels wells laying in the road spinning. Apparently they where so rusted that when I hit a bump they fell down on the rear tires and I just drove over them. Such is life, sometimes your cruze'in other times your drop'in wheel wells.

Finished talking with the guy, headed to the line, halfway down the track the hood flew open. Next day I called a guy I knew had Nova parts, and he sold me his extra '66 Nova hood for $40. Learned the hard way on checking piston ring end gap particularly oil expander support rings. Didn't pay much attention and had a ton of blow by and eventually broke a piston. While attempting my first oil change on my mom's 1994 Saturn SL2, I managed to take off the transmission fluid filter and drain the transmission. The transmission filter happened to look similar to the oil filter and was near the side of the engine in these particular cars. Additionally when the transmission fluid drained it was black like used motor oil. After realizing that I had drained the transmission fluid, I found the correct bolt to drain the oil. While the oil drained I took a trip to the part store for ATF and a transmission filter. In attempts to finish the oil change and what turned into a transmission flush I forgot which side the transmission filter went on. Due to my forgetfulness, I accidently screwed on the oil filter onto the transmission filter side. The filter appeared to have been screwed all the way on except I didn't see the tiny gap in between the filter and where the seal sinks into flange. Incidentally the transmission filter screwed on just fine because it was a little bit bigger. After topping off the fluids, I start the vehicle only to find ATF spraying everywhere. I immediately shut the car off with the ground now covered in ATF. I had to craw under the car to find that I got the filters swapped. Nothing like having to redue your job a second time while laying in ATF. The great news is I got the filters correct the second time. The transmission fluid and oil got changed and I haven't screwed up this bad doing oil changes since. On an additional note about the rust belt, I live in Ohio and the break caliper bolts seized up on this same car. While removing the rear spindle do to the caliper bolts, I ended up breaking a 2 ft 1/2 inch drive Snap-On breaker bar and alot of Craftsman sockets. Rust wasn't kind to bolts on this car. I was not disappointed when she decided to junk it after the timing chain broke.

A couple years ago, I was changing the oil pump on my 90 suburban, has the same 350 tbi you guys pulled out of uncle George. When I was taking the pump off, I also took off the main bearing cap with it which shouldn't be taken off to change the oil pump btw, and when I put it back in, I misread the torque spec in my Haynes manual by one line and went to torque it to 110 ft lbs which is the big block spec. Long story short, the main bearing bolt never made it to 110 and snapped off in the block. I'm turning 23 in a month and getting the big mistakes out the way early I guess lol. Greasy hands. Love it can’t understand how all these rebuild, fab guys always have clean hands. It’s unnatural.

I was building a Jetta awhile ago and just put a tdi in that I built. I was working in a small one car garage and put a jack on a cross member to move the car over a bit so I had more room to work on it. The jack slipped off the crossmember and put a hole right into the oil pan. I’ve made multiple mistakes working on cars over the years but it’s how we learn what not to do

Nice work! I am ready to see it up and running! You should do electric/auto cut outs on the exhaust to give you a nice quiet idle and then roar on acceleration!

You guys are great. Logan. If you aren’t breaking stuff every now and then, you aren’t working. Those fittings are especially crappy. A lot of RU-vidrs skip showing the hard stuff or mistakes. Y’all use them as learning/teaching moments.

I was given a set of corvette manifolds to put on my squarebody, so broke one of the factory manifolds taking off. At the time it wasn't a big deal because I had the corvette ones, well turns out didn't fit. So then truck was no longer drivable. I ended up ordering a set of long tubes to fix it, so I all worked out better in the long run.

Heads up in those bushings, if there is a gap between the two halves use something to fill the gap so the bushings dont have too much room to compress and split them. I had some poly bushings in control arms and they split in no time, machined a piece of 1/2” hard plastic to fill the gap between the halves with a little larger center hole to allow them to flex some then the plastic stopped excess movement

Y'all are making me wanna rebuild another Camaro... I used to have a 79 Z28 ttop clone(454cid/th400) and a real 72 SS, but it was a shell when I got it... The original M21 was in the trunk, the original 350 was gone along with everything else including the rear end... We put floors, trunk, rockers...basically from the body line down was new metal... Got a cheap Goodwrench 'special' 350 long block crate, the M21 was rebuilt, and put an old Trans AM, disc brake rear end(very lucky junkyard find) and put her back on the road... That was early 2000s and I was on drugs...! Literally...! I am now 64+ months sober from a 22+ years long heroine addiction and instead of cars, I have built three fishrooms, more than 50 aquariums currently, but am rebuilding to increase it to around 90 aquariums... I own & operate a lawn service business and am starting a fish breeding business (2nd year offically in business)... thanks again for another great one...! Keep up y'alls awesomeness and go enjoy some nature today...!

I wasn't wrenching on anything at this time, but my friend let me borrow his mustang for a few weeks since my Camry finally gave out. I was driving back from college one day and another mustang pulls besides me and tries to race me, as we were racing the motor was knocking like a Jehovah's witness. Needless to say I got him another motor, he didn't care much and we still drive the piss out of it

That whole headlight situation was definitely one of my favorite parts of the Uncle Rob build. As for breaking shit, it happens. I busted a pcv hose on my Durango trying to vacuum out the engine bay of critter crap and acorns, and I've broken bits and pieces on customer cars at work before, usually bolts, although I have managed the break a few wheel studs. Most annoying one was a 99 v6 Pathfinder that I broke the brittle ass plastic heater core on by breathing on it while replacing the valve cover gaskets.

My first transmission replacement (1977 Buick Skylark) started with me jacking up the rear and putting it on jackstands. When I started jacking up the front I pulled the car forward and tipped it off the rear jackstands. It was pretty sketchy, and I pay much more attention when lifting cars now.
