Proud to have www.aviationexa... sponsoring my videos!
Re-uploaded due to some audio issues!
This is the fourth video in a series covering the basics of GNav for ATPL students. Originally this video was going to be really long so I cut it into two parts. This first part looks at Earth convergency, and the next part will look at convergency between rhumb lines & great circles!
This series of GNav Basics also includes:
Video 1: • GNav Basics 1: Lat/Lon... . Refresher on Latitude & Longitude
Video 2: • GNav Basics 2: All Ab... . The Departure Formula
Video 3: • GNav Basics 3: Great ... . Great Circles & Rhumb Lines
Video 4b: • GNav Basics 4b: Conve... . Convergency (part 2): Rhumb Line and Great Circle Convergency, & Conversion Angle.
As ever, if you've found this video helpful then I'd greatly appreciate it if you could give it a thumbs up - and subscribe to the channel if you're not already. And if you've got ideas for future videos, please leave them in the comments below.

Hey Tom,,, I can not thank you enough for your videos. I wrote my last CPL helicopter subject on 6 september (few days back) and NAV was the last subject which for me was the most difficult to understand and of which I was most fearful of, as I didn't have math last 3 years of high school...so you have done an outstanding job in explaining the formulas (WOW) and I really battled to understand many NAV aspects on convergency ETC... after going through your videos trying to get decent videos of understanding certain concepts and getting the bigger picture, I gave your videos a try and it was God sent. To the T amazing. After that, I continued practicing questions and everything just clicked. I wrote nav and got 89% and I was stoked. Thanks Tom for your passion, dedication, and time. May you be rewarded massively in your journey. Charl Cilliers (Cape Town - South Africa)

Hey Tom, I briefly watched your videos, I just started gnav, loved your Altimetry videos. Great work 👌🏻 just wondering if you can advise on the type of questions to start off with to progressively build up to more difficult ones? Where is a good point to start after finishing the content!? Thanks :)

Videos are duplicated in the playlist and the order is scrambled. Is that a fixable thing? Overall great course, thanks for the effort.

I was Afghan Air Force C208 pilot for one year and during that war I forgot almost everything, the only thing I could do is to fly the aircraft without having proper knowledge of aviation. I have been evacuated by RAF to UK and I am going to convert my license while I am almost broke. I think you donated me 1200£ by giving me a very brilliant free navigation lecture. Thank you very very very much
