Gavin is right, there really isn't much difference between England and America in terms of ruler. The Queen is a tourist attraction. We have an elected official who runs things for 4 years and then there's another vote. It's essentially the same.

The king was George III, Michael. Don't want to be a snooty-sounding history buff, but that was kinda a big thing in the history of the US. Also, President =/= king Gavin, because president is elected by the people rather than being born into power, and term limit restricts any chance of enforcing a sort of "monarchy" or reign. Not that it would be the biggest issue, since we have the other two branches to keep the Executive one in check. Checks and balances is an awesome concept. Not that they're gonna see this comment btw. Just kinda sad those weren't understood.

To clear up the monarchy thing, the monarch of the UK does not rule the country. They have a reign, not a rule. The British equivalent to a president is the Prime Minister, who, according to tradition, the monarch allows to rule in their stead as an elected official. The Queen plays no more of a role in the ruling of the UK than she does in the ruling of Canada, Australia, New Zealand or any of the other countries where she is also the monarch. The absolute rule of the monarch in Britain ended almost exactly 800 years ago with the Magna Carta, which later inspired parts of the US constitution. As for Michael's rant on how shitty the UK is, Michael is Michael, he was trying to get a rise out of Gavin, and I personally found it funny even though I'm British. Michael says offensive stuff all the time, so why should I suddenly take it seriously when he says offensive stuff about the country I happen to be from?

So, I've noticed a problem with this video, and really every video on youtube. Warning: once I tell you you can't unsee it. On fullscreen (and in normal view if the video is letterboxed) every border of the screen has an extra line of pixels, and they're the pixels from the opposite border. Here it's most apparent when the top of the screen is the white office wall and the bottom is the desks, there's a white line at the very bottom. Have fun noticing this forever. :)

Here's an idea for a Go!: Kill someone else in the room 5 times. It has to be the same person and you have to always be in a multiplayer game where other people in the room can kill you, with regular check-ins about who's in what game (so the players can hunt each other down). Alternatively, pick out 4 games. The last person to get a kill (or not get a kill) in each game is eliminated and then they move onto the next game until the last person standing wins Go!

I'm really trying to understand how Gavin's mind works... So he said why didn't George Washington become King because it's the same as being President, then when the others pointed out that a President only serves two terms he says he was actually talking about the Prime Minister even though England was entirely ruled by monarchy at the time... His stupidity hurts my brain.

Okay here, guys, the difference between America and England; Washington was elected to be president, both times. And, unlike England, we had the House and Senate, both elected by the people, not one centralized power holder (people forget that when a president doesn't use 2000+ executive orders, the House and Senate have just as much power as the president.) England didn't have prime ministers until long after Washington. And, yes, massive amounts of things were achieved because of the revolutionary war. The entire government was elected by the people, and weren't given the job via monarchy, or arbitrarily appointed for the first time in history. And also, unlike England, we have freedom of speech, which even those who want it taken away benefit from and enjoy it all so much. And, the most important part is the Constitution. The Constitution put into written law saying that the only reason that the government is legitimate is because the people say so. It also makes it so the government cannot take away freedom of speech, the right to have guns so the people can defend themselves from an outside force, or an overgrown government, and so the government cannot force a religion on the people, and any violation of such gives the people the complete write to rebel. In reference to the last one, with Separation of Church and State, that does *NOT* mean that the State cannot have a religion, that means that it cannot make only one religion or way of worship legal and all others illegal.

Well technically, England has a constitutional monarchy, which means there is a monarch whose powers are limited by law.. Also, the US did not have a limit on the number of terms that could be served until the 22nd amendment. #themoreyouknow

Gavin in today's world the US and Britain have very similar governments, with the exception of a few things that distribute the power even further in the US like directly elected Executives and the practice of Federalism. The government of the US is in the same structure that it was in as of 1787, Britain however has made the change to Democracy from Monarchy after the time of George Washington. And to answer Geoff, Britain has a queen, but the head of state has no power whatsoever, the Royal Family exists as sheer tradition, the real power is held by the Prime Minister and Parliament.

Imagine how much fun it would be to work in this office with these chumps!

I always love how some Americans act like America is the greatest country to ever exist. Never mind the fact that it's pretty much destoryed most of the world and is the most hated country in the world.

(TL;DR: It was a completely different system when America was founded, but England decided to follow the same system as America). As someone who graduated top of their class in honors civics in highschool: England is a Constitutional Monarchy, which means they are democratic just like America, and their leaders are elected, just like America, but they still have the royal family as a sort of celebrity. But they don't have any power what-so-ever. America is a Democracy, which pretty much everyone knows, pretty simple stuff. The thing is, when America was founded, England was still a traditional Monarchy, where one person, usually the oldest son of the royal family, was the ruler and had complete and total power. America said fuck that, we want to elect the people who rule us, and pretty much invented (or at least, popularized) full blown Democracy (there had been smaller forms of it before, but none quite as fair and free as America's version). England eventually decided to switch over to a more democratic government system like America, but that was well after America was founded. So there is almost no difference between a President and a Prime Minister right now, but there use to be massive differences between the two governing systems. Unfortunately, now America is ruled over by a Financial Monarchy (which is total bs that I just made up). The person with the most money gets elected president. :p (Statistically speaking, I believe there has only been one, possibly two elections, in the history of the country, where the person with the most money raised didn't win). Also, George Washington knew that the system of government would work on precedent (i.e. this guy got put in jail for a year for shoplifting, so they can't give another guy the death penalty for doing the same crime around the same time). He decided that if he continued to be the President, it would set the precedent that the President can stay in office as long as they wanted, and he didn't think that was for the best of the country (and he was right). Gonna disable replies on this comment to avoid all of the "TL;DRs" and "AMERICA ISN'T A COUNTRY". (By the way, calling it the U.S. is clunky and slow. Meanwhile, there are no countries in North America or South America that claim to be called America. Because of that, you know exactly what I mean when I said America, and so does everyone else on Earth, and thus since the point of language is to convey thoughts and ideas, and mine are conveyed just fine, correcting me would be downright pretentious and incorrect. :p )

Idea for a GO: With one try, each person has to get the highest scored achievement they can get. The person who gets the highest (someone who got one worth 100G would win if everyone else only got ones worth 75G for example) would win a sticker

An idea for a future GO. Same as this week but no arcade style games (pinball, geometry wars etc). Or 10 minutes to get the highest score in a sports game

Idk if anyone has said this yet, or if its a good idea since i dont play very many arcade games, but a nice variation of this GO would be to have 3 chances at any game and whoever gets the high score would win. And chance as in a single attempt or life. Like your total score after one life of geometry wars or a single ball in pinball.

My GO idea. In 2k14 beat the undertaker first in defeat the streak mode on legend difficulty with your custom superstar. That is pretty tough. Even if you are good at the game he seems to kick out of every finisher at least 3-4 times lol.

Actually John Hanson was technically the 1st president of the US in 1781. in fact there were 8 presidents before Washington I believe.
