I have a pair of dangling grape earrings that one brooch reminds me of (they're brighter purple and made of plastic, but they're one of my favorite pairs).

Oooh lemme tell you! I have the same waist problem like with your goth skirt with a lot of my clothes. Amazon has these “no-sew waist button” in bear shapes, and some other styles too. The buttons seem like a good hack, so you don’t have to put clothes in a sewing pile, then forget about them.
