Looking at that video twice... ATC should have held the 777 till the 787 had landed. Priority should go to the a/c landing after a longer passage. Combination of Singapore and ATC stuff up.
David Stewart Nope. SQ had more than enough time. In Singapore they bang on about minimizing runway occupancy times yet their airline pulls s**t like this. All on SQ.
Cool video for sure. We can argue about the sluggish 77 or the ATC but the big ticket issue here is the takeoff data for the 77 is no longer valid after they used up a chunk in their 'extended' line-up.
SQ did as he was told albeit a tad slow to lining up. Atc should of held SQ to let QF land. 4:48 Just watching the clip again and noted that the female tower controller after directing QF9 to go around and a male tower controller has directed SQ to abort the takeoff. Could this perhaps be her supervisor stepping in to help out?
What a mess indeed? Why didn't the ATC let the Qantas 789 land before giving the Singapore 772 clearance for takeoff? Beautiful 787 go around and 772 takeoff nevertheless...
@@sj1461 well the ATC not even asking SQ ready for immediate takeoff when SQ report they are ready. Then suddenly when they taxi to lineup the ATC said cleared for "immediate" takeoff.. Would be different if ATC already said Singapore cleared for expedite lineup and takeoff. ;)
ACTUALY D S IS CORRECT AND QF WAS ON FINALS AND SQ REALLY WAS DOING NOTHING WRONG IF A LITLE SLOW TO REACT ON ENTERING RUNWAY. HOWEVER WE DONT KNOW THE DEPARTIRES BUT QF WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN HAPPY
It can not have been that busy that it was in safety first best interest to allow the Singapore plane to take off before the incoming qantas plane...what a mess. Sure there will be if already hasn’t been an investigation
Singapore took a long time to move after being given permission to line up and should have easily been able to take off before the Qantas had to be told to go-around. They (Singapore) had reported ready so all checks should have been completed and be ready for an expedited takeoff.
