This complete set is actually the combination of two different Power Suit sets. The arms, feet and fists are from the Guardian Commander set and the Core and legs are from the Renegade Grungy set.
The combined gun can be held by the fists. It has a handle that can flip down. However, the handle is smaller than the fist and the fist grip is not very tight. I just attach it to the pegs on the arm suit, much more stable.
Those holes in the feet are for missile launchers. Sadly they were removed from the US releases from Tonka because of safety concerns, leaving holes. If you happen to own the original package for Courageous or Grungy you may notice there is an empty slot in the Styrofoam next to the guns, and that's where they would pack the plastic missiles in the Japanese release.
When I had these, Scoops fit perfectly inside the main body of the robot.... i guess that's how ya fit Leader 1 in. I never figured out why Leader 1 couldn't fit.
My cofounder Jeff owns the guardian version of these suits, and it’s the one in your thumbnail, and I thought these things are cool; I mean these suits give the gobots the ability to combine together for the ones that don’t combine on their own, and I’m going to do a video on the one my cofounder Jeff owns coming soon.
I used to have both versions of this as a kid, and the big grey four legged thing, too - my mum liked that they also doubled as storage. I think they ended up getting sold at a garage sale, or something, along with my lion Voltron.
I have two of those power suits from when I was a kid and never knew what the he'll they were for. Thanks a lot for this. I may need to complete my set!
I had this toy when I was 9 but never knew the name of the toy or year till now. It took me 25 plus years to look for it. Thank u for making this video. U made my day.
IXRollOutIX, Hasbro bought Tonka a few years back, and folded the GoBot line somewhat into Transformers. That's why there are Transformers with GoBot names. IIRC Hasbro used GoBot as a line for younger children too.
This might have already been said but I was confused at first when you called the forklift "Scoops". His name is actually Spoons. His coloring does sort of resemble G1 Scoop, though, who you might have had in mind.
i had this toy as a child i had no memory of it being a go bots toy, i remember fitting many a GI joe into the leg and arm compartments, was jsut awesome to happen upon this
He is a Power Warrior. The forklift is "Spoons" not "Scoops" and he's a Renegade, and they did say both "Transform" and "Convert" in the Gobots TV series. The suits can hold a dozen or more different Gobots each. The suits granted enhanced speed, blaster strength, telekinesis and sensors to each Gobot. There are no missiles.
Excellent! This takes me back, although I didn't have many Gobots-I had some of the superGobots, but I was mostly into TF. I wish Gobots made a comic book-that's why I liked TF better
just got back into go bots and gonna get the renegade power suits for my good guy go bots. gonna try for the main space ship later when i can afford it.
I have the complete in box version of Guardian Courageous ( made by Tonka, has Styrofoam insert.). I picked it up for 35 bucks! As far as I can tell, the pieces of the gun that all combine, can be placed into the holes on the feet. Great fig, wish I had the Grungy version as well some Gobots to fill it! I thought about going rough all of my TF scouts to see which ones would fit, until I acquire some actual Gobots (hopefully) this year at TFcon. :D
Did you get to see what Phelan Porteous has recently reviewed? He has a Korean KO of this toy that includes the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles figures to put into the power suits.
did they make orange repaints of loco? i think i have one he is in pieces at the moment.(legs are broken) but mine looks very similar to it except for colour.
the funny thing about the go-bots/transformers war is that the gobots figures are actually more well manufactured- die cast parts and such. in fact, not many of the figures came with any accessories for kids to lose (i think only cop-tur did). such a better toy, but man was the transformers a better show.
1. Gobots aren't old, Machine Robo is old. Second, you mixed white with black power suits. Do it right. This isn't Voltron. And dude, how can you put Renegades like Jeeper Creeper in Courageous? You must be one of those fanfic guys... :/
