I was 17 years of age and I was there in my guess jeans and jacket. Man that's when you can go and have really good time without shooting at people. Best time in go go history. Iconic this will never happen again. R I P Chuck.
A sold out nba arena all to hear LOCAL artists And I missed it cuz I was in St. Louis calling myself a bball player smh…came home, got the tape, and made it my workout music for the rest of my 1987-1988 season

I have no idea how the audio CD made it up to FUNK-O-MART records in Philly, but I found it and for some reason purchased it and was hooked from day one!!!
🥺 Damn it, I wasn't old enough to make to the Capital Center that night, but cherish every moment of this legendary concert. #Thanks for posting! sheesh 🤦🏽♂️
I was so pissed my grandfather wouldn't let me go that night. I was 16 in my junior year at Coolidge Sr. High. All of my friends that did go came to school bragging like hell. But best believe, as soon as that recording came out, I went straight to Waxie Maxie's downtown to buy my cassette. I used to blast it in my room, in the car when I was driving, until it popped. Years later, I bought the CD, and the DVD. I may not have been there physically, but I felt like I was there in spirit LOL 🤣
EU, RE, Hot Cold sweat, Lil Benny, Godfather Chuck Brown was a great era as it relates to funk but when JY which was the youngsters on the block back then changed go-go to what it is today.. from funk to crank nation!! #DMV

The younger generation didn’t keep the beat going. There was a time when you pull up next to someone all you heard was the latest P.A tape blasting from there speaker now all you hear is rap. For some reason gogo is not the same maybe because I’m older now. All I can say is that I am glad to have been around in the 80’s and 90’s when gogo was at its best.
