League nights are literally the only night they are supposed to take things 100% seriously. And you get these guys who just showed up to do their first race ever in the league and ruin it for everyone.
My first race, literally a couple days ago, got shown the blue flag probably a dozen times. It’s fineee I understand that people want their moneys worth through the race.
@@JohnRitchiejd23 someone is sending it more than you and you have to let them past, usually there is a blue flag when you are being lapped or when you're coming out of the pits
Blue flag, in any form of motor sport, is faster driver behind. Normally means you being lapped but if also, especially karting, you impeding a faster driver, and for everyone's safety, get out the fking way! 🤘
The reason that you are slow lap-time wise: You appear to concentrate on attaining the ultimate top speed and holding onto the throttle until the last split second. That has you going very slow at corner exit and having to wait longer to apply power again. Try braking a little earlier, making especially the tightest corners smoother, and you'll drop time by beginning to accelerate earlier. Sideways or sliding at corner exit is a time killer.
:) that was my assessment too. I used to race the 2 stroke karts. I'm like you are entering too fast and it is killing your exit. all the counter steering is ticking off time. plus, by blowing the exit, you are losing the racing line for the next corner.
Especially the sliding. Sliding just a little at corner entry can be beneficial on some turns but sliding at corner exit close to wall is a big time lose.
@125AXer & @EDnerd EXACTLY what I was coming to say as well. I raced 100cc 2-strokes & some 125 shifter a LONG time (40 years!) ago.. As our camera guy was being dropped by the lead pack, was thinking that I’d coach him to do exactly what you guys are saying 🏎️🏁
Too be honest this happens more often than you think at rental tracks. I think people underestimate the difficulty and just can't take the ego hit when they are slower.
Yeah, It sucks when people don't have any racers etiquette but I also understand that these are regular people who don't know a single basic thing about motorsports
That is a wild crazy experience. I absolutely hate it when I go to a go-cart track and people who don’t drive or people who are not good drivers have the audacity to come to race track and think that it involves only themselves This is motorsports Respect it love it
@@Lilman_yg Yes! lots of people take this hobby very serious as it’s the cheapest way to get seat time! I’ve owned “track cars” and this is by far the most cost effective!
That sucks man. Over the 5 years of go-karting I’ve done, (started 11 now 16) I’ve always went to this place in Cali. There would be so many times younger drivers make us lose time and speed, spinning out in turns, but it wasn’t as bad as one time where somebody filed a lawsuit to the place I went to because their phone dropped and someone crushed it. They clearly stated in the rules to put all loose items in a small locker we have near the helmets. Another time, someone got pissed at me because I accidentally pushed him. I got rammed from behind, we were in a pile up after some kid crashed into their dad, and this guy literally got out of his car and punched me on the helmet. He was banned. I was younger at the time, but i would always be top 1000 in the US.
‘You take your jobs too seriously’ Nope, it’s motorsport. Motorsport is dangerous. That’s why we have rules and that’s why they’re enforced so strictly
Idk why this video popped up for me but this shit is so cool, and you're a beast from what ive seen in this video... Never seen any competitive karting before but i thought you were killing it before the drama started
Nice driving! I'm old Rotax light, shifter kart racer from way back. I use to lean opposite to corner, in the Rotax, gives outside tyre's better grip. Admittedly never tried these karts so could be different? 🤘
My cousin use to race 125s all over the country... he had Italian frames that were about 5k a pop back in the mid 90s ... we raced dirt circle tracks with alcohol brigs ... back when carting was huge ... I miss the Friday night gatherings ... all my dad's friends ran the unlimited class ... I always ran pits for them it was a blast
As a dirt racer who has gotten the blue flag before, its more for safety. When you have cars gaining on you fast, race officals will tell you before a race even starts that if you get that flag, hold your line, leaders will be coming by you.
Funny how all the know it alls and “kart track employees” sick of people not moving over know absolutely nothing. Your comment buried like a hundred deep is the first one to actually say what the flag is for. Anyone who has ever been in the front of a race would understand this…. Blue flag with the orange diagonal means hold your current line. Why would a leader know that? Because it really sucks to DNF when the lapped car switches lanes into you trying to “get out of the way”.
Get a skateboard. Theyll start flooding in. If they somehow dont find you in the wild, just go to a Skatepark. There are always swarms of them dropping off their scooter kids
When you tire of dealing with other "racers", try rally-crossing with the SCCA and you and the ever changing course are your only enemies, and nothing to hit, except your pride if you overdrive. As many as 10+ classes to fit vehicles, from pure stock to UTVs. Miatas to Corvettes, PU trucks to Teslas.
Nice track. Good stuff with lots of patience. I worked at 2 go-kart hire tracks over the years. You gotta respect those things. Saw a foot taken off. Fires in petrol carts. Cracked ribs… fun though… ❤😂
I went to this track once maybe in like 2015 just to check on prices. I ended up watching a few of the sessions in that hairpin to watch everyone crash. As a 10 year old or however old I was, I thought that was almost as fun as driving the karts themselves. I’ve since moved away and moved on with my life but I still wish I could race there 😢.
I work at a gokart track myself and i fucking hate it when people dont respect flags.. 1 everyone payed to drive and have fun. 2 you slow af get out of the fckn way. 3 get over yourself.. we are there for a reason otherwise we wouldn't be there.. you dont like it? be gone.. always discussions for nothing.. just do what you have to and nobody will get butthurt.. and everyone can have what they came in for in the 1st place.. fun or best laptime 👌 staysafe! 👊
Ah yes the muscle head ! Had a guy who was not happy with being lapped numerous times . After session said to him if we step out side your kicking my ass but you don't stand a chance racing me ! Offered a hand shake and told him he did make it for me ! He is just glaring at me 😮 Go out for a smoke and he comes out . He comes up to me and says sorry . I don't like to lose . No problem I have a weight advantage by about 40 lbs and a few thousand laps done already !!
btw next time when ur coming to an apex try entering a bit later. Bcs when you enter it too early as your doing in the video it causes you to slide so just so u know
Was this in Phoenix? I think i randomly raced there when i was on vacation with my wife? We had alil too much to drink at a bar around there and i needed to sober up before driving... what better way than to go for a drive lmfao. I still smoked some dudes there lmfao
The Blue Flag technically doesn't mean "move over", it means be aware of faster traffic behind you. When you're racing, you don't want them to get racy after you catch the slow traffic, but you do want them to stay online and not make an erratic move so you can get by.
The blond Karen that left with Muscleboy is Madison Monroe Williams (Madi Monroe). Here's what IMDb says about her: "Known for her unapologetic way of showing her audience how to empower themselves by owning who they are, Madi Monroe is at the epicenter of all things Gen-Z and is well on her way to becoming a household name with her exploding social media empire and upcoming projects in film, television and music". Her Dad is Matt Williams, who played for the Arizona Diamondbacks. I never heard of her. lol
Bro says he'll move you out the way as they are pulling away. 😆 slower is faster sometimes. If you stop sliding towards ever wall you might catch them. JS
I remember being warned on a track for making contact with the guy in front of me. He called me an AH . The fact was that perhaps because of my 130 pounds, I was faster than him. I spent the race behind him because of his unsportsmanlike attitude.
I spent money for myself and my gf at the time at Andretti's some years back. Had to wait forever and then was delayed too. I was pissed because all I wanted to do was drive in peace. All their little delays were annoying af and took away from the experience. Seemed like we were in there 3 hrs and only drove maybe 20mins total. Never again
Was threatened by a guy in a UK karting place as he was ignoring yellow flags, failed to notice the end of the race and completed 2 extra laps with Marshalls waving at him so I called him out and he went mental. Race 2 he was going on the inside of kids and spinning them. He tried it on the guy ahead of him and then y both half spun and we ended up 3 abreast into the chicane and he came head to head with the barrier instead of braking then tried to fight me and the other guy in the pits :(
@@TheTradesmanLU2001 I’d like to say the kart was bad. But in all reality I’m pretty slow, as some other comments pointed out I’m turning in too early and braking in the turns. I’m gonna be there on Tuesday so we’ll see how it goes then!
Can someone who actually does go kart racing explain to me what exactly the blue flag is all about? I assume it's why everyone is stopped, (and what I guess the first guy was too impatient about,) but what is the wait for? Like, what caused it and what's the resolution so people can start racing again? Also, again as someone who doesn't actually know anything about go karting, I think I can see why you hang out at the back. Like, that driving actually looks like a lot more fun when you've got room to do a little counter-steering without risking running into people.
@@ImRacer1 So what happened that caused everyone to get backed up here? (I just finished watching the race where you spun that guy out, BTW, glad to hear y'all made up afterwards.)
@@RamadaArtist on Tuesdays at this track we race 4 laps “qualification” and 10 laps of “racing” they do the 4 laps to line us up from fastest to slowest hence why we stopped on the track to get into positions
the karen thing is funny but dude you drive too aggressive when going around turns that aren't wide you need to ease up on the gas and break a tad bit that way you keep your momentum and are there for able to speed up faster but when you turn the way you turn your kart skids out and your wheels lose grip then you lose the momentum you built up there for losing the extra boost of speed that you would have if you do what i said prior but don't listen to me if you don't want to I'm just trying to help another fellow racer please just try it and if it doesn't help you then it's not your style but it works for me all the time getting me first in every race so please at the least try it
Things like this are why I'm never going to a trackday, and would rather play with bikes I buy or build in public places. And the are places & times safe enough to do that. Spend all that money to be allowed onto a track, travel all the way out there to one still open, because tracks are being shut down from idiots building homes around them, then complaining about the noise, wait all this time for a trackday event, only for it to be ruined by an r/Karen, r/Kevin, someone crashing hard enough, even being forced to return to the pits, because of officials don't like the weather, even if you're ok doing laps in it. People who blindly say "take it to the track" don't know about any of this, but are quick to call the cops on you playing in empty parking lot, or empty road.
Honestly you guys need to learn from K1 Canton and stop giving drivers the blue flag in these types of races. If you can't pass a slow driver it's 100% something YOU need to work on. If someone chooses to defend position instead of trying to out run you, they should have every right to do so. I would have been annoyed with the entire situation too. Don't blue flag and don't stop my race unless we have a kart failure or a spin out. PERIODT
@@DJesus66 so the way the races work here on Tuesday they run 4 laps of quali stop is on track to line up in position. The blue flag was being waved at people no where near me racing it was much further up. It was also deserved. This session had some of the fastest people at the track in it. The blue flag is 1000% useful. K1 Canton races are usually all very competitive people. This was a field of half newbies and half skilled drivers
@@ImRacer1 I totally get what you're saying. But being one of those K1 Canton racers I think it's such a curveball (in a good way) to have slower drivers out there just doing their thing and also learning. It's just a buzz kill to have to stop like that. Even I get annoyed when I'm stuck behind slow drivers, but sometimes they give me a chance to catch up to drivers ahead of me. I see it both ways really. Of course it doesn't have to be drama like what you saw here though I'll give you that
Gotta ask, on electric go-karts, the throttle response is pretty much instant. So, if you have to slow down for a turn... Do you late brake and accelerate through the turn or tap the brakes half way through or just skid the front tires? OR? From my perspective you seem to come out of the corners too hot, turn the wheel to skid/slow down and then accelerate on the back side of the turn. Seems to be a tad slower than if you late apexed the turn.... Of course the hard part is not slowing down too much.... Watch your video. List to the motor sound. You are slowest exiting the turn..... Doesn't seem optimal. Yeah, watched some of the other videos. You are hitting the apex a little early. At least with gasoline powered - you brake in the straight line.... start your turn and effectively accelerate through the turn. Your lowest speed is just about where you turn the wheel ( a little after that, you need the weight on the front tires to turn in). Once the car starts turning, you roll back into the throttle and your accelerating through the turns. Note the brake lights on some of the faster drivers (the ones you cannot catch) they are braking before they turn in! Note, you cannot do this when someone is trying to pass you. Basically drive the line you drive when someone is trying to pass you so you block the inside. There is a reason why defensive driving is slower.... If you get caught by surprise and passed, your late apex, on a big turn, will allow a chance to undercut his driving line on the exit. Beaware you are going to come up on him as he apexes the corner and most likely will not be able to go full speed through the turn.... that's racing....
@@confuse3671 your right, my apexing is too aggressive and I end up throwing the cart too much. I’ve been working on smooth transitions since this video was posted. I’m pushing to hard and need to realize that slow is faster in some situations
