Every version of this classic touches my heart. I lost my dad from cancer 6 years ago. 3 months after I got that news, I received news that my 26 year old son was killed in a car crash. The trifecta was 1 week after learning of my son's passing....I learned that my all time favorite perforner....ever...Merle Haggard passed away. These timeless songs touch my soul every time I need a good, cleansing cry over losing 3 of my favorite people.

You brought happiness to a wounded solider you loved me as much as a mother would with her own son. You might have won the battle with cancer but the night you went home the sunset was so very beautiful and I knew that my son was welcoming you home to that heavenly home above with the Lord and his Father. I miss you every moment everyone else has moved on but I haven’t. I’m crying writing this because you ain’t here no more but I know you are forever here in my heart. I love you. Go Rest High was played at my grandma’s funeral a year ago and I have only listened to part of this song one other time but y’all blew it away! It is also my uncle’s favorite song and he is currently in the hospital fighting for his life. I have had this song saved since it was uploaded and could never bring myself to play it until now. A job well done.

Thank you for this. When my Dad passed away 8 years ago this was one of the first songs that popped in my head. i whispered the chorus to him right before they closed his casket! I will forever love you Daddy!
