We're all still looking forward to your final books "The Winds of Winter" and "A Dream of Spring" Can't wait to read about how the White Walkers conquer all of Westeros and which survivors barely managed to escape across the Narrow Sea 🌊
@@KumarAnshsI think it's just that he's overwhelmed with the work he has to do. Finishing the books, helping create the shows for us, making spin off books. He is possibly suffering from writers block which is something every writer gets. He still likes his universe, no doubt about it. Otherwise he wouldn't be apart of the shows creation.
How do you feel about the very high likelihood that the book series won't ever be finished? Legitimate question. I'm simply curious to know what new-ish fans think about the story they love never getting an ending. Me, personally? I despise that fact. I used to be like you are now, loving and absorbing every single bit of information about the story that was available. I fell more deeply in love with this series than any other fictional creation I've come across in over 5 decades -- and it wasn't even close.
@@Quazi-moto Personally, I wouldn't be very happy if TWOW doesn't get released, but i'll survive if he doesn't get round to ADOS. I find that the show having an ending is almost enough for me, now if the show never existed and he just never finished the books,, that would be a different story haha.
@@sh4d0w-r0ss-8 I get where you're coming from as far as having SOMEthing to sink our teeth into story-wise due the show existing. But I differ greatly in one major aspect: -If we don't get- Since we won't get a finish to the series in book form, that means the show will be the closest thing to canon we'll get. That fact eats me up. *D*ipshit & *D*umbass completely blew it. It's the one time in my life that I've seen nearly the entire fanbase of ANYthing come together to pan the material. Even the Star Wars prequels didn't get that level of hate -- and they were definitely hated.
@elian_m It's incredibly cringe when you see someone comment 30 seconds ago and they are literally racing to go on their alt accts to upvote their comment.
You probably already know this, but for those curious, there are some really good youtube channels that go in depth. AltShiftX, David Lightbringer, In Deep Geek, Quinn the GM, The Disputed Lands, Hills Alive, to name a few
He has also got to finish the Dunk and Egg novellas...He has only completed 3 out of a total of 9 planned short stories. HBO announced a TV adaptation of these stories so we don't want a repeat of what happened with Game of Thrones.
@@legoforbeginners6950he finished it. Whiners don't like his ending choices and now he doesn't know what to do. Hopefully he either releases them with no changes or doesn't finish them at all as a giant middle finger to all the season 7 and 8 complainers.
@@doublestrokeroll I mostly just want to see where he'd go with Stannis in the books. I really love that storyline and don't think that he'd go the same route.
@@user-pm9kc3rk1vthe lord of the rings is good in it's own term as fantasy. Both has big lores and good written histories While a song of ice and fire is good in it's realistic term. The lore is much more realistic and also mysterious as followed by many theories
@@user-pm9kc3rk1v in lotr everything is about fantasy, and it's always a battle between good and evil. Asoiaf has a few fantasy elements, and the story isnt about them at all, it's about the characters and their complexity, each one of them being good and evil in their own ways
This could be a series and I would watch intently. Just went on the site, I could look at that map all day. Looking forward to them hopefully adding more to it in the future.
Honestly I am find with either Winds of Winter and Dream of Spring, or the Dunk and Egg novellas. Either or, and I would be happy. I don't need both, but both would definitely be appreciated.
@@sabrina63 I was being hyperbolic. "Need" as in I love the stories and the world building and desperately want the these stories to continue to find out their resolution in this preferred order. Not I demand these stories, now, in this order. Is that better? Do I meet your approval?
I know this is a stretch - but WHAT IF..... just go with me for a second here.... WHAT IF.... the reason he's taken so long is because the book series grew another book or two? What if it's Winds of Winters (and then....) The Nights King (and then ummmm) The Lord of Light AND THENNNN A Dream of Spring. could you imagine? OR... what if he was secretly writing WOW and ADOS together? I wanna stay positive here and at least pretend stuff like this could happen.
There is no way a great quality animation editing like this are only for a 3 minutes video 😢. We want an hour full documentary on GRRM just explaining full map of ASOIAF, especially Essos!!
A knight of the seven kingdoms based on the Dunk and Egg Novellas by George RR Martin will be coming soon. Some consider it better than the main story.
If you found this interesting, Read 'The world of Ice and Fire'. You will not regret it. The history and lore of Essos, Sothoryos, the summer isles, the basilisk isles, Yi Ti, Naath, Asshai etc is a very fascinating read. Just skip the Targaryen and westerosi history section if you don't want spoilers for HOTD.
Is it just me or we all are way more fascinated about the Kingdom of Valeria then Westeros & Esos combined ! I think we all want an entire novel & a series about this great mysterious Kingdom.
Im reading the book while waiting for the s2 and its amazing how big this history is. The series took place in the half of the book. Its amazing. I wish to see a show about Jaehaerys and Alysanne too, it would be an awesome novela.
Imagine the potential and the worldwide acclaim of GOT if D&D just followed the books plots closely and postponed the series to wait for George's next book, saving the series' reputation and not only that, but also making George an incentive to hurry his writings more and for more fans to wait in anticipation. It's just sad, really, to see GOT being talked about almost everywhere and people suddenly act like it never existed after it's "ending".
@@doublestrokerollFor the rest of the story after the books. What I meant is for D&D to follow the books 1 to 1 and also hoped they postponed for the next book. But excluding the waiting part, the major plots Martin had laid out for them would make more sense if they, again, followed the books 1 to 1.
@@doublestrokeroll Not for me and the majority of the fandom. There's a reason why GoT was almost forgotten after the last seasons, whilst the likes of LOTR still has very heavy presence.
@@HackerArmy03Assumption. You just think it's the majority but really all the whiners are a small part of the audience. People who liked it just don't waste their energy complaining. So unless you can show me the actual numbers, you're just conformation biased in your own little bubble. Same thing for your second point. You're just pulling stuff out of your ........ what proof do you have for your claims? Right....none. House of the Dragon has done very well so there's some proof plenty of people haven't forgotten. As for Lord of the Rings...I don't care. Good for you if you enjoy it....I personally always thought it was boring. Lame "good vs evil" one dimensional story telling.
Martin had a really strong contribution towards Elden Ring which was critically acclaimed. Now, he just needs to lend his help to a game studio for a fully open-world AAA fantasy RPG set in Westeros!
He just did the world building for Eldenring which he's already done for Westeros. If he wants to make a deal with a game studio to make a game set in Westeros George doesn't really need to do anything. The big problem is finding a studio that would want to make it.
There has always been something about Tolkiens middle earth, the elder scrolls and a song of ice and fire that has always captivated me, how an author or game designer could create an entire world with hidden lore and geography is just awesome, each of these three worlds could make really cool single player open world action RPGs similar to the mainline elder scrolls games but based on the whole world, kinda like the elder scrolls online but in a single player game
Why are other shows like The Witcher & The Last Kingdom not as good as GoT&HoTD? One big reason is because the world building is much more fleshed out in the Game of Thrones world.
I think it's unfair to compare The Last Kingdom to Game of Thrones, one is historical fiction & the other a complete fiction fantasy. Not to mention The Last Kingdom focuses primarily on the story of one man & Dark Ages England whereas Game of Thrones/House of The Dragon take us all over the place & tells multiple peoples story.
The key difference in my opinion why Game of Thrones stands out compared to other shows that tried to do what it did, is that Game of Thrones' source material was meticulously laid out over decades of writing, where as other shows often only have a few years of writing at most. Other shows often have amazing first seasons as those are the ones with the most time and effort put into their writing as the creators work to get the story picked up for production by studios, but their later seasons often only have one or two years of writing put into them, as they have to produce a new season every year or two, leading to padding and a noticeable decrease in quality.
@@Michaelonyoutub I would dispute that: The Witcher novels were published from 1990 to 2013 and the Saxon Tales ("The Last Kingdom" in TV) from 2004-2020. So the source material of The Witcher show had been out for longer than the source material of Game of Thrones, and was of course actually finished, lol. As for the television screenplays, clearly Game of Thrones faltered there also. So the source material had not been out for any longer and wasn't even nearly finished(!), and the screenplays maybe were given more time to develop in the last season and maybe others (?), but it didn't save the prolonged quality of the show. edit: although, I wasn't thinking of the English translations of The Witcher, which were only published from 2007 on. But still, the GOT seasons all aired with one-year gaps, except the last one, which was universally panned.
love the fact of how he left space unfinished such as Sothoros and the lands of always winter wich are not on any map on the known world. not to mention the "whats west of westeros?" question😊
An entire series about the Doom of Valyria seems like it might remove some of the mystery of the world since it would likely show Valyrian society, but I would love if there was ever a scene in one of the shows, maybe one of the Targeryan's dreams, that shows the doom.
I truly hope they bring back the show with the same actors after grrm finishes his books. The show was exquisitely cast and those actors are that character and that world. Say what you want about D&D’s writing abilities, but they had a hell of an ability to adapt.
