Interesting. I clicked on the link and the video told me it would be delayed by 20 minutes and that it "apologized for the inconvenience and appreciated my patience."
Looks like a great railfanning location! This is Canada's busiest 2-track passenger railway, if I'm not mistaken. Though it's being expanded to 3 tracks soon.
Unfortunately most lakeshore east and west crossings are quiet zones, Stoufvillle has some horn, Barrie has a lot after Rutherford, (going north) and yeah. A lot of cites in the GTA banned them.
Hi there, Fan Railer. Once again a cool video. Tell Me, where those trains crossing a no-horn zone or what? I am so use to American trains (or engineers) always blowing the horn near level crossings. Regards, from Your South African Subscriber.
A few years ago, the two major railway companies operating in the greater Toronto area reduced the amount of horn sounding that is used along the rail corridors that happens during daylight or in built up areas where there are protected crossings with lights because of how close a lot of housing in the area is now to the tracks. The crossing near my place used to have a lot of horn sounding before then, especially at night, but it didn't make the crossing any safer. Now they only sound the horn in fog or heavy snow that could make the crossing lights hard to see.
ARE THERE STILL ANY FREIGHT TRAINS RUNNING ANYTIME ON THE LAKESHORE LINE BETWEEN UNION STATION-DOWNTOWN TORONTO TO PICKERING STATION, IF THERE ARE PLEASE CAPTURE MORE FREIGHT TRAINS THAT ARE RUNNING ALONG THE LAKESHORE LINE BETWEEN UNION AND PICKERING
Well these are Ontairo GO trains that belong to the company name: OC Transpo in Cote Saint Luc we have the company name: AMT Agence Metropolitine De Transport, they are painted blue and white and new trains in Montreal, VIA Rail trains look at the videos and type in: Montreal AMT Trains. and click on the thing that says retroolschool.
Not quite. The maximum speed they are capable of clocking is 140 km/hr. Faster than taking the Ontario 401, but not close to the high speed trains in service around Asia/Europe.
i don,t think so , the Europian , Japanese and Chinese EMU ( Electric Multipple Units ) are going faster than these dieselpowered slow trains , the EMU,s are going much faster than 300 km/h , even faster than the Amtrak Acela Express Electric Highspeedtrain in the USA !!
Trains are still required to do the crossing sequence unless it is a quiet zone. Mexico they have no horn rules you can do whatever you want there with the horn. Canada has US horn rules.
And that cab car was sadly decommissioned not too long after this footage was taken... And if you look very closely on that same consist, you can see one of 236's brothers (221) decommissioned and left to rot behind the coaches they once held the reins over.
Quiet zones because people move so close to the train tracks and start to complain about the train horns being so loud. Next time people don't move your house so close to the railway line.
