Today Goa is Goa because of opinion polls otherwise as rightly said by Shri Vijay, it would have been Goa-wadi without Goa State legislature which the political parties are enjoying, so also with regard to jobs. Thanks to Dr Jack Sequera. His statue should be prominently put in the Assembly before 16th December, the day of Opinion Polls. Without him Marathi would have been imposed on Goa-wadi. It is unfortunate that most of the Ministers give step -motherly treatment to konkani. Example, in Goa mobile voice call in Marathi rather than in Konkani. Thanks to the railways in Goa for starting announcement in Konkani. Shri Vijay Sardesai, great speech.

Portuguese were invited in 1510 by local Hindus like Mhal Pai and Timoja because they hated paying jizya tax to Sultanate of Bijapur. Local Hindu villagers helped the Portuguese during the conquest, by supplying the Portuguese with food and also taking part in the killings of the Bijapur Muslims.

I am from Sawantwadi, and Goan by origin and I agree. Sindhudurg district which has everything what Goa has, is just a speck of dust in the state of Maharashtra and we dont have many facilities. Even for best medical treatment, people here run to manipal, vision or Bambolim. But because Goa is a separate state, it has so many facilities. Pramod Sawant is originally from kolgaon, sawantwadi and he went to Goa and so he is CM. or else he would not even be a gramsevak here. And there is a demand for merger of Dodamarg taluka in Goa.
