Opening a brown so soon after obtaining purple isn't as impressive as it first seems. I've been working on this lock ever since I opened the S back in February. Many thanks to @LadyLocks for her helpful advice on tension. I also started using a modified half-diamond a few days ago, and the extra stiffness of the tip really helped with my technique of using it a bit like a dimple flag, with more rotation than upward force.
