Bangdyachi Uddamethi is an authentic and traditional Goan recipe made from Indian mackerel fish. The name 'Bangdyachi Uddamethi' is derived from the Konkani word 'bangdo' meaning mackerel fish and 'uddamethi' meaning urad dal and methi seeds. This curry is made using a special masala of roasted urad dal(uddachi dal) and fenugreek(methi) seeds. And hence the name Uddamethi. The Indian mackerel fish is also referred to as bangda, bangdo, bangde or bangude. Bangdyachi Uddamethi is very famous amongst the Konkani community.
Traditionally, uddamethi is served and eaten along with white rice. Alternately, you can serve it with pao or chapati as per your choice.
