Veena I am from Pune. During our Goan weddings the Goan cooks used to prepare meat paste sandwiches and u could not stop eating them. And now those cooks are no more and those sandwiches have disappeared totally. The mixture used to be pinkish in color. I feel it was corn beef paste but there must have been other ingredients too that gave it the flavour. Do u think u can revive those sandwiches.
Hi Margaret! Thanks for getting in touch. The meat spread used in sandwiches used to be either corned beef or chicken pâté. I'll surely add this to my growing list of requested recipes.
Cinthia, you can make this curry 2 - 3 days in advance and keep it in the fridge till you're ready to serve it. It will stay good in the fridge even for around 3 - 4 days.
Hmmm, nice suggestion, Cherian. Only, in the spaghetti and meatballs recipe, you have to add a lot of the tomato sauce to get that characteristic taste.
Come on, Tommy. Couldn't you guess? The video was uploaded on New Year's Eve. And the dish was offered as a good option for a New Year's Day dinner. As for Auld Lang Syne, it's one of the most beautiful and moving tunes I know. But do try making the meatball curry. It's amazingly tasty.
Not an authentic Goan Recipe!. In original recipe we don't use coconut milk but grind fresh coconut with necessary spices. And even if you do use thick coconut milk, It should be added last as it will curdle because you have added tomato paste. And once the thick coconut milk is added, the curry should only be stirred for a minute or so and removed from the fire and chopped coriander leaves can be added alongwith the coconut milk.
Moto Plus, every one adds their own variations to traditional and favourite recipes. In the traditional recipe the coconut was ground on a grinding stone. I don't think everyone is expected to use this old method today, right? In fact, every generation adds their own modifications to old recipes. Nothing wrong with that. I'm sure your way of making this curry must be tasty too. But this is how my mother made it and this is how I like it.
