The content I create is intended for those who already have an understanding of cold process soap making. Cold process soapmaking involves working with sodium hydroxide (NaOH, also referred to as lye). Lye and raw soap can permanently damage your eyes and burn your skin. Firstly, Ive seen your other videos if this is kapia mera. Cant forget a name like that. You make beautiful soap designs! I've made goats milk with powder, with the real milk straight from the goat bypassing walmart altogether, Ive thrown in the powder with the oils and blended, I've blended into the water then added to the oils, I've even stuck the powder and the water, after blending, into the microwave to bring our any milk properties into the water (slight smell here but it will actually smell like goats milk) and you know what? I can't tell the difference! In fact, I cant tell the difference, to be honest with ya, between goats milk soap and my normal recipe. My normal recipe leaves smooth skin winter or summer all year round and I actually just put it in there just so I can tell my soap customers so I can sell a bar! One thing I did find out the hard way though is my first time using frozen real goats milk I just poured the lye on top and I figured I'd be lazy and just let it sit till milk ice melts. It created little balls of something, maybe milk balls?? that just would not come out with the blender. Those balls ended up in the final product. So its tan colored soap with little white balls inside. Nothing wrong with the soap. I just have a hard time explaining that to the customers. Maybe its milk fat balls, dunno, I just know its not lye! Moral of the story is, Dont let the milk sit!

That's exactly how I make my goat's milk soap. There's no problem with over heating if I mix at about 95 degrees, never higher than 105. Turned out lovely Holly, thanks for sharing! 💞

Hi. I did mixed mine at about 104°F the lye water and the oils at 93°F. Its been like 5 days and still its not harden right. I put honey on mine. Everything else was the same.Does your soap leave skin moisterized or how?

Honey does make the soap softer but be sure to add sodium lactate to help harden and help get it out of the mold. You would add 1 teaspoon for every pound of oils and add it to your cooled lye solution.

@@elimancilla i found if you use specific types of distilled water the soap will not harden, this happened to me as well, and i let it sit in the mold for 2 weeks was still partially liquid. i did some research and found a lot of distilled water comes from dairy farms and i believe there is something in dairy farm distilled water that alters the soap making process.

One of the most beautiful goat milk soaps... Made it exactly like this 3 months back and it lathers like hell ❤️ love this... The recipe is a keeper... Thank you Holly ❤️ only thing i changed is soaped at 80 degrees F and 38% lye concentration.. Added sodium lactate and was able to unmould in 24 hours. Though goat milk powder was more hassle free but i found liquid goat milk soap producing lesser lather than the bar with powder - followed same recipe for both. Also, liquid goat milk tend to heat the bar up more? Let me know if anyone have any similar experience... Thank you 🤗

thankyou Holly for this video, it's inspired me to get back into making soap! I was getting confident making it about a year ago, with a bit of a spur on I made a block a day for a week or two and then had a huge stockpile! LOL Covid made me just very nonplussed and I didn't feel like doing anything creative. I've tried goatsmilk twice. The fisrt time I make icecubes with milk but it still burned. The next time I used pdr but it was a bit grainy - obviously I needed to blend it more . I think I may have added it to the lye/oils mix and was afraid to overmix it. Now I know better! Happy new year and thanks again x

I'm happy to see it took a couple of days for your goat milk soap to be ready to cut. My individual bars ( since this is a test run) at 36 hrs were still too soft to unmold. I'm going to check them again this evening at 48 hrs. I used fresh milk and ran the rest of it through the freeze dryer.

I love using GMP in my soaps, and I also blend it into the oils. It is the easiest way for me, since my freezer has no room to store goat milk until I can make soap.

Hi Marie have you tried it yet? What's the water amount used on this? I used the calculator but I'm very confused please help me. Holly uses 33% concentration but on other videos she uses the same concentration but doubles the amount of lye to get the water

Eli Mancilla I make soaps, I sell them, in fact I just made goats milk, jasmine rice and oatmeal soap, I don’t listen to people and get confused, I used to, I do it my own way, it’s simple, I do equal amounts of water or goats milk to equal amounts of oil, if am using 16oz of water or goats milk I use 7oz lye, please don’t be confuse

Hi Holly, I love your videos and have learned a lot. Would you mind telling me how you measure your “parts” for the essential oils? Is 1 part considered 1 teaspoon etc?

It's always going to be 1 part = whatever measure you like. 1oz, 1g, etc... To find percentages, if you take the parts and add them all together, they equal 12. Now, take each part number and divide by 12.. that will give you: 42% Lavender 21% Lavendin 33% Cedarwood 4% Patchouli If you look at her ratio of 40g/1000g of Oil, her essential oil blend is used at 4%.

I just made your recipe and it turned out perfect. Just want to comment that the Meyenberg powdered goat milk works great and fully incorporates into the oil. I have tried several other types of powdered milks that do NOT incorporate well into the oil. ( heavy cream, coconut and buttermilk powders)

Hi Holly, In our current recipe using whole raw goat milk we use equal parts of lye, water and raw goat milk. Would you just replace the goat milk with water and add the goat milk powder to the oils or does the amount of water that is added (in place of the goat milk) need to be adjusted? Hi Holly, I use both dry and full goat milk, I like them both, i got some coconut milk and powder and cream and I love them all lol! I put mine in the freezer overnight, i haven't tried the fridge. Thank you for the nice video on goat milk powder and for the recipe, I will use it, but, i like mine at 6% superfat, my skin loves more moisture lol! Stay safe Holly 😊.

Hi! I really loved the convenience of the powder and not having any leftover goat milk. It has me wanting to try other milk powders. :) My skin is so crazy dry this year that I probably should go back to using a 6% superfat. I can't remember why I changed to 5%. When I first tried it, I really expected that to happen, but the batter didn't thicken at all. It reacted like a typical batch and took a normal amount of time to trace.

Hi! I’m a new newbie, meaning I haven’t even tried making soap yet but I have a kit coming to make my first ever Cold Process soap. I love watching your videos and I’m trying not to get discouraged and fill I can’t do this 😬 especially after watching how good you are at it, wow! I keep telling myself ‘you can do it too”. But I do have a question. I’ve watched many videos now on the process of making the soap and you’re so far the only person I’ve watched who put the soap in both the oven AND freezer. So is that ok to put ALL the soaps in the oven or just some??? And if only certain soaps, which ones?? So sorry to ask so many questions. Thanks in advance!

Thank you so much for watching! I hope your first soap turns out well (or turned out well, if you've already made it)! You can definitely do it, so don't get discouraged! I remember being so nervous the first few times I made soap, but it got easier and easier with every batch. Regarding your questions about the oven vs freezer, there are a lot of variables that can affect which I use for a specific batch, but it basically comes down to whether I want the soap to gel or if I want to prevent gel (or just prevent overheating). • For single batches that I want to gel and made with water as my liquid and soaping temps between 85º to 95ºF, I'll use the warmed (but turned off) oven to help the soap stay warm long enough to get through gel phase completely. If I make a couple of batches at the same time, putting them on the counter next to each other and wrapped in a blanket or towel overnight will also work. The heat from each batch (along with the blanket for insulation) is enough to ensure they both gel. • If I make soap using goat milk as my liquid or that contains honey (or anything that can cause the soap to overheat during saponification), I'll usually put the batch in the refrigerator overnight to keep it from overheating (might still gel) OR the freezer to stop it from going through gel phase at all. • If I want to prevent gel altogether (a whiter soap, more opaque, etc), I'll put the soap in the freezer for the initial 4-6 hours or overnight. When a soap doesn't go through gel phase, saponification can take a little longer and the soap will be softer. After removing the soap from the refrigerator or freezer the next day, I'll leave it covered on the counter for another day or two. (Exposure to fresh air during saponification can cause ash on top of the soap, so I leave it covered just to make sure.) After one or two days on the counter, I'll uncover the soap and let it sit until it's hard enough to unmold and cut (can take days depending on your recipe and water amounts). There are other variables that can affect how the soap behaves during saponification (like soaping temps and water amounts), but I tried to just cover the basic reasons I use the oven vs the fridge/freezer. I tried to add my powdered Goatsmilk to the oil and when my soap was done it felt gritty. Does yours?

Holly, may I ask how you prevent partial gel even when putting your loaf in the refrigerator. Almost every time I make goat milk (with powder dispersed in oils), if I put it in the fridge to keep that lovely lighter color, I always get a partial gel ring. Any tips to avoid that? Thank you so much! :)

I haven't been hugely successful at that either. Sometimes I have success sometimes I don't. I actually think it is the time of year that the milk was produced by the goat and what it ate(then turned into powder). One of the things I have tried is freezing the milk then pouring the lye on top. Painstakingly crunch the ice into small bits. Dont let it sit in the lye. Blend well then stick it in the freezer immediately to freeze and not the refrigerator. Leave it in there 4 or 5 hours. You might still get partial gel but eventually it should fade away as it cures.

I insulate my milk soaps and let them go through gel stage. Soap at low temps like Holly does in the video so your soap doesn’t overheat. (I do not put in fridge or freezer to avoid partial gel)

You know, after all the bells and whistles of multi colored fancy swirled soaps- in the end nothing beats a pure white or cream colored soap- your soap is beautiful! I make melt and pour soap for now, but I hope to one day soon learn to do cp soap- and I just subscribed- thank you! 🤗💚🌷💜

I've never used it in a bath bomb, but I bet it would make a wonderful ingredient. I've seen a few recipes online that called for it and also some goat milk powder bath bombs for sale, so I'm guessing it would work just fine as far as forming, etc.

The essential oil blend that you added.... Are the essential oils mixed with a carrier oil first and then added to the soap mixture? It looked like a LARGE amount and if that was ALL 100% essential oil it would be an astronomical price! oh my!

It just appeared to be a large amount. It was a normal amount for this recipe. My usage rate was 4% or 40g/kg. Since the recipe contained 1000 g of oil, my EO amount was 40 grams.
