Really curious to hear your long term review! Don't hold back, constructive criticism is actually appreciated by GOAT tools. They are in it for the improvements

It’s going to be hard to carry other tools with this in my pocket. I love to mess around with my multitools and this is the ultimate for modification and experimentation. I’ll try to keep a record of whatever I figure out 😁

So far, the build quality is poor. It's a great idea, but I wish they would have sold the rights to Leatherman to allow them to do it properly. Assuming Leatherman was interested, obviously. It would be cool to see a plethora of different interchangeable tool options.

Seems like an interesting concept but it also seems like it could use a good bit of refinement. Also it looks like it would not be comfortable to use.

The pliers are comfy but the external tools kind of feel like I’m using a Swiss Army Knife or something. 2 hands required… I hope it breaks in, but either way I’ll let everybody know my experience.

So happy to see these in the hands of backers! Your scissors spring may not have been bent towards the frame all the way at the factory. If you remove it, its pretty easy to bend that spring towards the fixed arm so it doesnt pop out. (If you bend it too far and it snaps we'll send you a new one!). Excited to hear more feedback after more use!

Hi GOATTools can i ask as suggestion if you could add on next tools batch ( i mean as optional add-ons) a small wire brush like the one the multi tool King Innovation lighting technician or electrician had? The one that had wire strippers instead of pliers
@Heikki_Finland

You should rather grind a little bevel there so the tension naturally pushes the spring towards the frame.

My scissors spring hasn't popped out yet either. That detail about the bit popping out when tamping on something is good to know but if they put a stronger neodymium 52 magnet in there it might consistently tug on the tool next to the magnet plus you might need pliers to pull the bits out from bit holder with stronger magnet.

I have been excited for the Goat Multitool since I saw it on Maxlvledc. I struggled with finding the tool that I wouldnt have to settle for what I used or didnt use. In the end I wound up modifing a tool that was close to perfect for me. While fun, it was super costly in the end, something you dont want to have to say about a tool you use and abuse. Buy once cry once is one thing, buy once and mourn every time you use it for tough or nasty work is something else entirely. So I am super hype for when my own order comes in. The cost ratio is way more bearable to me. (I wont feel like I just sold a kidney if I lose it). Easy to clean and maintain, and I personally like the look of it. Now I just need to experience it myself.
@handheadman
@handheadman Год назад
Got mine today and was disappointed right off the bat. Fresh out of the box, these were my issues: •The main blade is very difficult to deploy one-handed because leverage is poor due to the finger hole being so small and close to the pivot. The lock bar and bit driver also deploy with it too readily, requiring them to be pushed back in. •The bit driver is impossible to pull out on its own since there is no nail nick on the end of it. •Not only does the spring on the scissors bend away from the contact point with the pivoting half, the pivoting half is also beveled at that point so the spring pops out even more easily. •One of the pivot screws was a fairly loose, causing the craft blade and saw tips get hung on the inset frame for the pliers. It also made the tool rattly and cheap sounding. •Easing on corners of tools is inconsistent, some still fairly sharp while others are quite rounded. (Sharper corners make changing/rearranging tools a little bit more fiddly) Polishing mating surfaces and adjusting screw tension will fix several problems. Grinding enough bevel to get a fingernail on the bit driver will hopefully fix that issue. The scissor spring I'm sure I can fix with some careful bending, though use over time and the bevel where it contacts may make it a recurring problem. Clumping when deploying the long tools is annoying and ruins the ability to open them one-handed. The Leatherman Free multi-tools avoid this problem with separators. This would be something to consider in a GOAT Tool 2.0 and a mod I might try to implement myself. For a brand new product I'm forgiving these quirks, since some tweaking should alleviate my initial disappointment, particularly since the modularity of the design is a game changer and the promised warranty is top tier. I do hope QA catches these issues going forward though. I don't regret supporting the development and have high hopes for Michael and GOAT Tools success, and that the innovation inspires more modular, tinker friendly designs from other tool developers.

Got mine, ordered two in black. I’m having most of the same issues, except that my scissors aren’t acting up like yours. I ordered the file too and it SUCKS, can’t even file fingernails. I also removed both knife blades because of how the tools clump they kept popping up and I damn near stabbed myself several times. The serrated blade is the only one I will use in this tool because of the safer tip.

For the sake of watching their progress in the last few years and wishing another competitor on the market, I hope they fix most of those tiny refinements needed at least. Looks like a good concept, but when ordering from EU, shipping eats any reason to buy such tool. Good presentation!
@galadballcrusher8182
@galadballcrusher8182 Год назад
Be smart. There exist such a concept as freight forwarding as well account based service. Look around, there is such a thing as a company with an address in the states and you make n account to them, then they give you a recognition code like a P.O. number then you order the tool but state as delivery address their address. Then they send it in your country. This helps in 2 ways, first off if the international shipping costs from original vendor are too high but they send for free within states itay come that this company's costs are way more reasonable. And additionally in cses where original vendor does not ship outside states or in your country this circumvents issue

I am also not too impressed with his tool, but if the price was right and it was readily available I would be tempted to try it. I do not know how much these cost, but the most I would probably pay for it would be around $50.00. I felt the same way about the Toler multitool. We must have got the same batch. Mine is also "clumping." The other tools like to come out with whatever tool I'm trying to actually pull out. The knife won't close by pressing down on the bit driver. I also have to pull the release lever up to close the knife. My overall impressions so far is that it was not worth the year long or so wait that I had, and I also don't think it's worth $100. The tools also have pretty significant wiggle action when you grab them and push them back and forth. It's just an ok multitool in my opinion. If it were better made, I think it would be the best multitool out there. I'm not a big "Merica" guy, but I do wish this one was made in America like the Leathermans.
@ayaansen2307
@ayaansen2307 8 месяцев назад
I think leatherman isn’t the best in quality either. Victorinox imo is still the best in terms of tools and quality especially the swisstool. The only thing missing are replaceable cutters and the interchangeable bits. Which u don’t need really especially if u have a bit driver or extension that can be used on the victorinox Phillips screw driver. Plus it comes with extra bits and a corkscrew which is handy for things like fishing or untying knots etc. wire cutters are strong enough to not break on u like the leatherman arc cutters. And leatherman doesn’t give u an extra pair of cutters with their tools. U have to buy them. The daicamping multitools are better than leatherman cuz they have a better tool selection and have the 3D bit driver and come with extra wire cutters. The pliers on leatherman also get lose over time and u need to get them fixed. So I think companies like leatherman have a long way to go despite they’ve been around since forever. Their quality can’t touch victorinox. And GOAT has potential cuz it’s still its first run. So it’s a promising company but only time will tell
@ayaansen2307
@ayaansen2307 8 месяцев назад
But I believe that every tool has its use for the intended purpose and different ppl have their needs. GOAT is promising because u can modify the tool to ur own needs given that the quality control becomes better with time. Tho for some ppl a leatherman or victorinox is good enough. So really depends on ur needs. Personally I would like the GOAT to be similar in quality to a victorinox then it will be the ideal tool for me. But otherwise I’m happy with the swisstool and daicamping multitool. I’m selling my wave today cuz those scissors are hard to get to and terrible imo. I rather compromise the file or a serrated blade for a larger pair of scissors that work well from the outside. Tho frankly the file is the least useful tool on a multitool for survival in the outdoors. But a good pair of scissors can save the day!
@lf2334
@lf2334 8 месяцев назад
@@ayaansen2307 I'm not sure what my comment has to do with "different people's needs." The build quality is poor. That has nothing to do with needs. You can modify whatever you want, but you can't change the poor build quality.

Commenting as I watch the video. You probably put some very thin copper or teflon washers to fix the clumping issue.
@inkiron3907
@inkiron3907 Год назад
Max Lvl EDC did that. It takes up some space in the tool area so sacrificing a tool slot for the performance of the others might be required. The nice thing is if it doesn’t work well, it can always be resent to stock. We’ll see if I end up using washers myself.

@@inkiron3907 I'm curious to see how it could work with 0.1mm shims. If only used for the outside tools it'll only add 0.4mm of thickness. Might be tight, but I think all tools could still fit. With a few drops of kpl for good measure

@@inkiron3907 I agree. But even then the actual tools are worse. Those pliers are not to my standards. Also you're already having issues with scissors. And I hate the branding too, it would look so much better if they cut the size of that logo by like 95%. That said, I actually do modify Leatherman tools and remove out tools I don't need as well. In concept this sounded like a cool tool, but not if the tools themselves aren't at the standards we like.

Wish the frame was titanium, more chamfered and half to three quarters mm or so thicker and a half inch or so greater in length and the tools, especially the saw, as well.... it's a bit blocky and less then ideal in ergonomics. hopefully version 2.0 in the near future! Also the file sucks - needs deeper cross cut furrows and a diamond side with a chisel tip. The scissors could learn from SAK. I couldnt tell if they are peened or a screw but a screw pivot please. Add a pry/ nail pull tool add on, a la ST 300M. Plenty more ideas but I'm tired of ragging on it 😂

I just got my tool on Friday (3 days ago) and unfortunately within 30 minutes I requested a return form. There’s nothing “specifically” horrible about it, but here’s my take. First of all, the fitment is not good. It almost feels unfinished, the edges are hard and holding it hard feels uncomfortable. The implements clump all the time and badly, ESPECIALLY the dang implement to remove implements which means, things will fall out unless you’re paying attention each time you open it. None of these by itself is such a bad thing but… for $160 (with the file I also ordered) there’s no way I could recommend this. I have the Leatherman Free Arc and the difference in fitment is worlds apart. One of the main reasons I thought this would be awesome is because I thought the ability to remove one implement, to use it by itself or in conjunction with the tool, would be a game changer. No way that’s gonna happen. The implements are too thin and too “unfinished” for that to really work well. I hate to knock on something like this, but for Gds sake for this price it had to be better.
