Make sure you subscribe to follow our daily lives in this farm!
Hey to everyone!!
We are two young adults, Despina 22 and Deivids 23 renovating an old farm house from 1817 in Latvia. Everything in and out of our house has been done by ourselves with no hired help. Soooo far everything is going great and there haven't been any incidents.
DIY is going to apply to nearly everything in our house. Our budget is tight and that has made us appreciate every "ugly" part of this house and turn it into something new and beautiful.
We give new life to things that others would throw away!
In this journey we are not alone! We are starting up our little Farmily and part of it are
3 goats
4 chickens
1 rooster
and 2 geese
Oh yeah and my cat Ivi
Despite our daily problems we are two young people full of joy and happiness, ready to start a new crazy chapter in our life. It wouldn't be fair to keep this fun for us!
that's why we want YOU to be also part of our Farmily!!
Hope you enjoy our video!
We love our very supportive community!!

Goats like to jump up on something. Adding a table or something sturdy in their pen would give them some jumping fun.

I had goats when I had my farm. They got out all the time. 10PM and the neighbor would bring them home. They are such stinkers.

Our pen for now is safe for them but next summer I would like to build a bigger one so they can't eat all the grass before it regrows! 😊

I love goats, apart from them being a bit smelly, each one is a bit of a character...🙂👍

They don't smell even a bit! Only a a goat buck smells bad in their mating season which is only for a month then rest of the year they all smell very natural! It does depend on the conditions they grow in how clean it is and if their bedding is clean! But if they live out side like they do on our farm they smell very good! ❤😊

Goats allways find the way to get out. So, when i was a kid best way is bring a cart of freshly cut grass twice a day. And sometimes take them to walk outside. It save your time. P.s you gays a my personal heroes. Sorry for my english

Good idea collecting dried hay to use later for goats to eat. Maybe David can make a feeder to put it in so the goats don’t waste the hay. Beautiful sunsets. Thanks for sharing. Lumnah Acres has two goat hay feeder vlog builds. One is attached to the side of his barn . The other is portable. Each have roofs for rain and snow. You might enjoy this man builds and farm animals. Are there any fallen down barns by you that you might salvage more wood for your projects. Maybe you could barter your labor.

Thank you, we will make a feeder before winter is here in the wall! There is barns and houses we just can't afford to pay for them, they sell them for 500 - 900 per building! But maybe next year! 😁

maybe get a bigger and wider tub for their water so their head won't get stuck in a small water can! They could suffocate if you're not around and their head gets stuck in that can.

Hello Dessy & Deivid, your intro with the goats escaping was hilarious 🤣 they really are clever at escaping & wow haven't your baby geeses grown, I know they're probably full grown now but am still trying to catch up... much love to you both... 😀💜

Yeah maybe, but the summer is already nearly over and maybe next year we make them a bigger enclosure! 😊

I think they are running out of grass eating in the car. You need to move it many times in a day. Goat need to eat the top of the grass so they don’t pick up worms from the dirt. They are full grow goats now not babies. Could you use a solar, electrial net fencing and move it each day, like Justin Rdode homesteading. Do you plan to breed your goats?
@DoBeDiff
@DoBeDiff 3 года назад
Yeah we move it like 3 times a day, those electric fences are quite expensive so can't afford those! 🤔

Yeah but they also eat up trees, it's best to have them in a large enclosure 😊

Do you get anything from the goats? Milk? I know they eat grass and keep it low but are there other benefits to having goats?
@loumealberts5957
@loumealberts5957 2 года назад
Do not know if this is something you would also like to try, but I saw how someone else that also have goats take a very long rope tie it around the goats neck and tie the other end to a pole. Like that your goats can not go further than the rope allows them to and if you like to let them eat the grass somewhere else you just move the pole to a different spot.

Goats get themselves in trouble with ropes - they tangle and wrap themselves around anything near them - my sisters goat killed his partner by twisting rope around her neck and another time wrapped himself around a tree nearby- broke his horn off and almost died from neck injuries-took weeks to recover
