Today we are sharing exactly what it looks like to use goats to clear land. We we purchased our acreage we knew that we wanted goats for clearing brush, but I had my doubts about what they were truly capable of. I am happy to report that using goats to clear land has been wildly successful on our homestead and today I am showing you some before and afters of using goats to clear land.
I searched a lot about using goats to clear land before we purchased our goats. I wanted to make sure that while we waited for them to mature, get bred and have kids, that they would be of some use to our homestead during that time. I love permaculture and regenerative farming methods and as soon as we moved in we began rotating our animals on the land to eat down the weeds and brush and drop their manures as well.
We have nigerian dwarf goats, which are on the small side. I'm sure the best goats for brush clearing are probably the larger breeds like nubian or saanen, however as you can see from this video these little goats are VERY capable of clearing land.
