Thank you God for giving us the Keith Jarrett trio and blessings us with this soul satisfying beautiful music. We all wish KJ a speedy recovery from his illness. RIP Mr Gary Peacock. Wishing JD good health.
You either love him and his tics or you don’t. First time I saw Keith was solo in Lincoln Center. Knew his music but absolutely fell in love with his breathy “scat” and his habit of 1/2 standing while playing. The music is as lovely as the best Spring day after a hard winter and his eccentricities are all the more endearing. Shalom
Not only is this music simply sensational, but to watch three men, each at the top of their form in their chosen instruments having so much fun "working" together, is truly a joy.
All of Keith Jarrett right here: soulful, funky, deep, passionate, touching, moving. One of the greatest musicians in the history of music, free for your enjoyment on RU-vid. 🤓
Saw this trio in Brussels in 85. As amazing as all of tthree men are as players Jack really blew everyone's mind that night. His asymmetrical playing that evening was astounding, literally breathtaking. Long time Jarret fan and couldn't love this sound more.
If I had ten thumbs - raised. But me heart and mind - were entranced - with this symphony for three. We were allowed - to view and hear - the unfolding of a masterpiece. Fare thee well.
Greatest Jazz Trio that has ever existed. Have all your recordings which I treasure. Saw you in London for both performances. Met you at checkout and approached you told you we had travelled thousands of miles to attend. It was an incredible moment , never to be forgotten. Unique, in the world of jazz is what the three of you created. KeithJarrett, Jack DeJohnette , Gary Peacock. ❤❤❤
Yeah man! Though the version of this song my father showed me was from Blood, Sweat and Tears (an awesome bad too - not sure if I'da have found it without him and my mum leading me into music like they did (they had a freaking amazing collection of vinyls, casettes and CDs, and both awesome music tastes ^^and I went into the library to lwnd some CDs we later copied on our computer haha love them, love it)
Way back in 1969 I went to jazz concert in Birmingham Alabama . It was a sax player who was No 1 at the time. And I was knocked out by a 16 yr old piano player named Keith Jarret. It was great just like this.Unbelievable live music the way it ought to be. I hope that he will play again.
@@fvelazqzu No. I parked in the back of the auditorium and I saw this little kid taking big drinks out of a fifth of whiskey.I was only 16 myself.I approached him and asked him for a drink and we started passing the bottle. After that I asked for a cigarette and we had a smoke together. I thought that he must be a crazy runaway kid.I thanked him and went into the concert. To my surprise,Pete Townshend comes out dragging him to the drums because he was too drunk to walk! Once he sat down at the drums he gave an incredible performance. We all live on the same planet together. We are not as far away from each other's lives as we think. Peace
What a wonderful idea to take a classic Billy Holiday ballad and transform it into a gospel and funk infused jam. The genius of a great standard is to make it your own - so God bless Keith Jarrett whose got his own version of the great American classic.
I am moved, deeper than I thought, deeper than I planned. Jarrett is a master who will be around in 400 years beside Bach, Beethoven, Zawinal and Hendrix.
@bluetv6386 Sorry, at most, zappa will be a footnote in jazz. Keith totally redefined it. And Hendrix doesn't enter into an appraisal of jazz period. Duane Allman, because of his playing on "Push Push" will make a jazz mention before Hendrix.
It just doesn't get any better than this! I could rave about timing or tone or whatever's but when 3 souls met and meld as one, this is what happens, joy!
...the nicest long version, quite rythmic and exploring, just listen.. and think of keith delivering a new masterpiece like a woman gives birth to a baby, that's what his face reminds me of.. please make all the faces you need to do the job!
Just listened again, paying closer attention to the drum solo. Jack kept that pocket in there through the entire solo. Oh sure, it may have hidden in the cymbals, or under the snare, or in the kick from time to time, but it was there the whole time. Incredible!
I gotta wonder: What soulless, heartless bastards voted this down?? This is one of the most likable sets in all of music in any genre. I wouldn't date a girl that didn't like this :) That's how fundamentally great this is
Such people could get a free cleaning of said ears with a long set of swabs - then a gentle massage of the heart - to promote sensitivity to beauty and then bodily shaken -(gently, again) - so that all the marbles are sitting - in order. If nothing works - they are cast out from this auditorium - into the night - with a free complimentary ticket - for a coffee at a fast food joint. May it be so - one can only take so much.
The title is so evocative ...... (but we are not telling the Divine - what to do) There is this eternal hope - for guidance and protection - for the new and helpless. Who is not such a child - really ? And then this music. (Will not like to comment further - just too scintillating) It speaks - of the work of 3 accomplished artists and is somehow - shared with us. We are ennobled and joyous - in these vibrations and the waves of beauty evoked - therefrom. Fare thee well.
May 8: Happy birthday Jazz pianist Keith Jarrett; Grammy Hall of Fame, Guggenheim Fellowship for Creative Arts, US and Canada. Thank you and God bless. Thanks for the upload, Nathan Music Channel. Blessings
Jack makes this. I was lucky to see them do this in Boston in 1986. It was great then But This is better. Jack uses double stroke rolls which is very uncommon for drummers now-and its a joy to hear. And it is a unique musical signature. Thank you sir. Peace, Mike. Always a pleasure to hear you and grow.
God Bless the child (Arthur Herzog Jr., Billie Holiday) - Keith Jarrett "Piano Steinway and sons" Gary Peacock "contrebasse" et Jack DeJohnette "batterie".... un vrai régal !!
Keith's Radius, his Ulna, the Carpal and his Metacarpal Bones, including the Phalanges, the Distal, Medial and Proximal, are somehow manifestations of his occipital cortex; the positioning and posture of his fingers, wrist, arm and so on, on the keys of a piano, is somewhat alien. The resulting musical notes caused by that, cannot be explained so easily. At least to many of us anyway. That's where we are here to listen to this wonder.
And Keith Jarrett suffers from ME/CFS (chronic fatigue syndrome). Amazing he has the strength to perform. In 1999 he said: “No one knows how debilitating this sickness is unless they have it. It’s like if you get migraines, someone may say, ‘Oh, I get headaches so I know what it’s like.’ But you can’t imagine how bad they are unless you’ve had a migraine yourself. But this is a much more horrible disease.” [Interviewer asks:] So, it’s more than just being tired or burned out, a common perception? “Are you kidding? I’ve met people who have had it for 10 years, 25 years. Some are bedridden, some can’t walk across the street. It’s stupid to call it chronic fatigue syndrome. It should be called the forever dead syndrome.” (quote: me-pedia.org/wiki/Keith_Jarrett)
This is fabulous and it's almost impossible not to get up and dance. But it's not from the album "Standards Live," it's from the album "Standards vol 1"
