HEY THERE YOUNG LADY!!!!!!!!....LOVED YOUR TUTORIAL OF PLAYING THIS SONG THAT I JUST RECENTLY DECIDED TO LEARN!!!...I CAME FROM THE OLD SCHOOL AND ACTUALLY LEARNED HOW TO PLAY MOSTLY FROM A COMBINATION OF BOOKS AND MOSTLY BY EAR, (ALTHOUGH MY CHORDS OR LEAD GUITAR MAY NOT HAVE ALWAYS BEEN PERFECTLY CORRECT, I COULD MAKE IT WORK IN MANY COVER BANDS I PLAYED IN WHEN I WAS YOUNGER!)......RECENTLY, I DECIDED TO START PLAYING AGAIN, LEARNING SONGS THAT I USED TO NOT EVER PLAY, (POP OR OTHERS) AS I WAS ALWAYS A LED ZEPPLIN/JIMMY PAGE MAN, OF COURSE, CLAPTON/CREAM, JOHNNY WINTER (MY HERO), AND SO MANY OF THE USUAL COVER BANDS TO MAKE THE SMALL CLUBS HAPPY!!!!.....BUT, NOW, WHEN I PLAY THIS SONG OR HEAR IT, I HAVE TO FIGHT BACK THE TEARS AS I LOVE OUR COUNTRY AND AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE COMMUNIST THAT ARE TRYING TO DESTROY IT TODAY.....I JUST MISSED VIET NAM OUT OF LUCK, AND NOW AFRAID OF NOW FIGHTING A WAR IN OUR NATION....SO, WHAT I'M TRYING TO SAY, IS THAT I THOUGHT YOU DID A WONDERFUL JOB OF SHOWING "ME" HOW TO PLAY THIS SONG WITHOUT ME HAVING TO DO IT THE OLD FASHIONED WAY!!!!!!!!!!!....AND YOU HAVE A GREAT VOICE TOO!!!!!!!!....THANK YOU "RAINY DAY GUITAR"!!!!!!!
hahaha how funny. I googled "how to play God Bless the USA" and a tutorial from my high school Spanish teacher pops up. Thats so funny. Well im glad you like this song too Mrs. Swartz because its one of my favorites as well. GO USA!
Hola Ezekiel!! What are you doing on the net? Well, I guess they REALLY changed the mission rules!!! Hope you are doing well! How's the Spanish coming along? Pretty great by now, I bet! ¡Cuídate mucho!
Thank you for the awesome tutorial. I always wanted to learn this great piece of poetry because as a military man, it has a special meaning me. I tried several tutorials and yours is the best. I can now play it to my friends and neighbors. God Bless you.
Thank you so much, Martin. I'm so glad my tutorial worked for you! And thanks for your service! I LOVE our U.S. Soldiers and Vets. You are loved and appreciated by so many of us out there! God bless you too!
so much easier to understand the progression in G, thank youu. yuo shoould fret your F chords with your thumb, fretting your bass notes with your left thumb will overcome your fear of bar chards and smoothe out your playing
I do that for some chords, but it it hard... you hands are probably bigger than mine! It is a hard reach for girls sometimes to wrap all the way around the guitar. I can barely reach the 6th string while playing the other strings! I do my best!
Wish I could give this more than one thumbs up, also wish I had spent more time finger picking, tremendous help putting this in G, thank you, God bless you and the USA
In sitting here singing it to myself, there are a lot of chords! None of that "4 chord" song stuff you see today! Which I like, but they take more time to figure out and type. Maybe this summer. Remind me!
good tutorial. Learned the song pretty good once I was able to decipher what you were trying to teach. Lol you were all over the place like you took a bunch of adderall right before you turned the camera. (Talking to yourself about chord changes and whatnot) Good arrangement of the song though.
Michael F So sorry! I am working on slowing down. (My husband says the same thing about me!!) I just got diagnosed with hyper-thyroidism, which makes everything run fast, including my mouth. That explained a lot! It really is chemical. But I will work on it.
Damn thid was so confusing to me not straightforward. Show the chords first as back and forth and felt like an ADD session but other than that i learned the chords and strumming will follow.. thanks so much
Thanks for calling me a lady! I appreciate it. Okay, yeah, maybe I did talk a little too much at the beginning of this one... I just love our country! I am a patriot! :) Have a good day! :)
Dana Swartz So do I< I love this country because it is the best country in the world and I would give my life to defend it, that has nothing to do with what I say about you explaining way too much, that was intended as a constructive critic. I love this song and I m looking a way to learn how to play it but I think, honestly that you over do a little bit too much on the explaining it, actually it is my last wish that this song be played at my funeral when that day comes. Sorry is my comment was not received too well, I never intended to be desrespectfull and thank you for the effort you made to teach us how to ply such a wonderful and patritic song.
I agree with Roger, stop talking, and teach. I checked out your site, Rainy Day Guitar. Liked what I saw, but honestly I couldn't spend my money to listen to your constant talking.
