You do know of the attempt being made over the last few years, where each state votes to change their elector policy to where all that state's electors will vote for the winner of the popular vote? This won't go into effect until enough states had passed this rule total enough to win the electoral college. They are roughly half-way there.

It seems so very unlikely that we could ever accrete the support necessary to achieve the constitutionally required threshold in order to pass such an amendment. A possible “work-around” with a somewhat better chance, seemingly, has been gaining support. This stratagem aims to negate the electoral college by gaining the agreement of sufficient states, with a collective electoral value totaling 270 or greater, to voluntarily cast their electoral votes for whichever candidate wins the popular vote. The odds are still quite long but many are more hopeful of success via this scheme.

Admittedly my interest also waned since I’m not prepared, in any way practical, to concur with the hand-waving alarm regarding Biden’s candidacy even though I may, only in a very broadly generic fashion, agree in principle.

@xmillion1704 thanks for the reply, I'm in the UK but most countries in Europe would be my choice.....where to start with the US, lack of healthcare, religiosity, the political system( don't like ours but it's better btw) the gun violence, the attitude to guns, the murder rate, the school shootings........I got more mate !

@@bobstreet8840 Not a bad list. However, there is no lack of healthcare in the U.S. with our top quality rivaling or beating the best available anywhere else on the planet. People from the world over flock to our universities including our medical schools. The issue with our system has traditionally been affordable access. The ACA (ObamaCare) was a fallback plan due to there being no political will to stomach scary "socialism" in the form of "Medicare for all" (Medicare-for seniors only, being roughly analogous to your NHS). The ACA facilitated millions more folks accessing health insurance which Trump then tried to dismantle, only partially succeeding. While currently around 92% of us enjoy coverage, I fret for those who don't. Regarding trans care for kids like my youngest son, however, he's much better off here in Northern California than almost anywhere else on the planet, especially with all that I hear about the NHS restricting treatments for trans kids. With respect to guns and religious nuts, other than growing up a preacher's kid, I've never had any real problems with either. I rarely ever see a gun not strapped to the hip of law enforcement. I'm not at all arguing that neither present a real problem, just not where I live. Different states have different laws and attitudes towards each. I can't help view the gun issue as a manifestation of profound insecurity which checks out regarding those I know, some dear friends and family even, who have larger collections. I've never had a reason to own one myself. Can't we blame the religious shit on you guys? I mean, it was the pious pilgrims running away from religious persecution of one kind or another over there who started this shit here, am I right? I think the numbers are trending inch by slow inch in the right direction at least. For all of our challenges, you don't see a flood of folks moving elsewhere.
