i think a 2D movie would be waaaay better than broadway - you have more control over the magical elements plus as these animatics show camera movement and lighting would just add so much to the emotion of the number howard ashman (little shop of horrors, little mermaid, B&tB) has this amazing interview about the superiority of animation when it comes to musicals
Athena is still a Goddess, she definitely views mortals as lesser to her. I really like how this musical does make Athena somewhat fond over Odysseus, but have that undertone that she really feels distant, like never viewing them as equal
@@blackjack7207 She became Thelemacus friend AFTER Odysseus was grown and gone for the Trojan war, and she knew way before Odysseus. And he wanted friendship. So Odysseus got the No-zone... Cause he could never get the Friendzone
@@redrasegarden I'm kinda sure they had kids. I'd have to look it up. But yes, chained them up in his and Aphrodite's marriage bed snd I think showed them to the other gods?
Did you notice that when Athena begins to defend Odysseus and say "he is my friend" the rhyme is very similar to warrior of the mind? It shows that Athena still cares for him and despite their argument she still sees him the same:as her friend.
I believe Athena sings "His son's my friend!" meaning she is talking about Telemachus. Which is interesting because when Odysseus offered her the title of being his friend she declined (in Warrior of The Mind) and during their argument (This Is My Goodbye) Odysseus says Athena is not looking for a friend. So Telemachus achieved something that his father couldn't, that Athena is open to a friendship with a mortal now. That does not mean she does not care for Odysseus, otherwise she would not try to persuade the gods to let him go home now.
I love how both in the musical and your animatic Aphrodite and Ares are not villainous, just antagonistic. Ares in my opinion gets the worst of this through Athenians writing down most of the myths.
In some ways, I could see why, as Ares represents the violence, immersion, and the reality of war whilst Athena's more onto the ideals, principles, and strategies where you have to isolate yourself to then do effectively end it.
@@ShinSeul YES, exactly. Ares was the soldier's god, and the Spartans and other more warlike Greek states, in the north especially, worshipped him fervently
@@scarletempress2652 Athens patron goddess is Athena, and as a city of intellectuals would prefer to represent Athena as more virtuous, so she will help heroes while Ares gets put in a jar by giants or gets defeated by mere mortals.
AHH THIS IS SO COOL!! Also Area hiding behind Aphrodite after Athena snaps at him for insulting Telemachus !! Also love the expressions for “ugh, release him” - it’s exactly how I’d imagined they’re look when reluctantly conceding to Athena,, you’re awesome for animating this :D
I really love the evolution of athena´s character being all: "we´re not friends" with odysseus and then considering Tellemachus a friend. The line "his son´s my friend" slaps so hard for me.
Which is ironic seeing as in the myth Athena didn’t really care about Telemachus and was mainly training him so that Odysseus would have assistance in taking back his home from the suitors.
I like that Ares is beardless which is accurate to the myth as he's supposed to have a handsome baby face and wears his helmet to give him an intimidation factor.
I bet they only accepted to release him bc Athena showed a major character development by having a "friend" and you do not want to mess with that kind of progress XD
Ya know is funny that the whole Trojan war started because Aphrodite was picked the most beautiful goddess of them all by offering a guy hellen's hand in marriage
@@dianagoenaga7263 No,I think the point that was trying to be made here is this Hellenistic romance is Aphrodite's fault in the first place, and yet she blames Odysseus for his mother's broken heart and expects him to suffer for it. Odysseus wasn't the cause of his mother's broken heart, Aphrodite was.
I love everything in this animatic. Especially that little detail with Ares hiding behind Aphrodite. It’s like a small hint to the fact that despite being considered “murderous and bloodstained,” he’s also a coward that other gods despised. Even his own parents despised him, with Ares embarrassing them on the battlefield fleeing to Zeus to be healed so often. (Please don’t come at me if anything is wrong, I’m just writing down what I can remember about Ares. He wasn’t a god whose story I really looked into or cared about to begin with, but this piece of info was something that alway stuck to me)
Ahhhhhhhh this is one of my fav songs from all the little clips and im so happy to see them visualiseddddd thank you illustrating this it was a real treat to watch!!
Okay am I the only one that finds it ironic that Athena shouted that “his son’s my friend” when she literally shouted at Odysseus like a song or two ago she wasn’t looking for one? Just an interesting contradiction there
EPIC THEORY: The first 2 songs of thr thunder saga are songs that dont occur in the actual odyssey, there is nothing like this in the odyssey as far as i know, meaning that this song may be one of the first 2 act 2 songs. I am probably wrong but it is just a guess
You can watch it on Spotify but this song and many more are just leaks because currently there are only 2 sagas ( The Troy saga , And the Cyclops saga.) I think the Circe one will be next then the Calypso one and after them I think there will be the God games
I am writing through a translator, forgive the mistakes. I liked that at the end Zeus gives Athena high fives. (She is his favorite child (and Ares is unloved..poor boy:(..))
Could I use your video for a collab to make a whole animatic of the musical? Don't worry I will put your channel's name . Then more of people will know you
Ares hiding behind Aphrodite is funny lol! Your the god of war Ares and ur hiding?? not very smart lol well actually it is smart not wanting to get Athenas rath
