I really like the choice to have Ares start throwing hands with Athena on sight. It makes me imagine that an aspect of their relationship is regularly beating on eachother when they cross paths. Kind of the screwed up respect of "You are a fellow god of war and battle so I know you can take it and dish it out right back at me." But also the aspect of "You are my sibling, so on principle alone I have to punch your face in for daring to breathe the same air as me."
@@mado-wh4jvAthena whooped a lot of gods during the Trojan war , in fact most of them besides the big 3 were figthing each other in that war (I believe Athena fought ares alongside a Greek warrior and managed to make him bleed and flee)
It was between Diomedes or Melaneus, I forgot which. But whicherver of them also injured Aphrodite first, since she was carrying her favorite Troy soldiers away from taking a fatal blow @togucvinw7
Personally, I always thought that she was totally going to change her mind if Ares hadn't intervened when he did. Aphrodite is a very emotional being and vindictive at times, but in addition to being a prideful goddess of passion, she's also a mother. I think it's possible to convince her that Odysseus needs to get home not just to see his wife again...but to save their son. If any of the suitors win Penelope's hand, Telemachus is at risk of political assassination. Now, Penelope is aware of that, which is one of the reasons why she's been holding out for 20 years (even if Odysseus isn't alive, she doesn't want to put her son's life or claim to the throne at risk) but these suitors are getting more and more impatient by the year and eventually try to kill him before any of them see any progress with Penelope.
Similar to what others have said on other animatics, I really love that it showcases how Athena was really using pleading as a manipulation tactic knowing it works against Aphrodite. It also probably is why Ares is instantly physical with Athena, them being half siblings with similar domains knowing how each other think, and Ares recognizing how Athena is exploiting Aphrodite’s compassion makes him enraged.
She probably realized Athena loves Odysseus (not romantic because she doesn't really fall in love but more as a friend/student type of love) and love is of of the things she is a god over.
The reason why Ares is commonly depicted wearing his helmet is cause he is ashamed of his youthful face. He is unable to grow a beard, and a beard is a common signifier for being an adult.
Yeah I think it was mentioned by Pythagores or some other famous dude that the epitome of beauty was red hair with blue eyes and a symmetrical face, that's also how Helen is supposed to look I believe
*Yeah, red hair and blonde hair was a sign of a rare beauty in Ancient Greece and also in Ancient Rome because most Greek and Roman women had brown or black hair with brown eyes and golden tanned skin...Helen of Sparta and Troy had golden blonde hair, Aphrodite/Venus had strawberry blonde/copper blonde hair and Persephone had titian red or dark auburn brown hair...and all three were called the most beautiful...it is thought that even Psyche had dark golden blonde hair or light golden brown hair!!! ;)*
Shes just doing what theyre doing but better Aphrodite tries to guilt her into giving up so she gets all sad back at her Ares tries to attack her to make her give up so YEET
@@The-Silliest-Little-Guy goddes of wisdom after all knowing how to play the game better then the rest is her whole thing (ironically people? not her thing as evident by her and odysseus falling out)
I love everything about this! It’s one of my favorite! Gods the way Athena was actually kinda begging Aphrodite to set Odysseus free, and Aphrodite actually looked kinda sad and sorry for her; LOVED IT!!
Actually, Athena wasn't begging, she was trying to manipulate the situation by acting so nice and considerate with Aphrodite! That's why Ares said 'Really Athena, these old tricks?' (don't take this as a rude comment pls, i'm just a greek mythology nerd)
I quite like your Athena design. The short dress and long straight hair really make it unique. Same goes for the gold armor on Ares. I really like that Athena’s blue and Ares is red, shows that they’re opposites. This is the first time I’ve actually seen them physically fight in an animatic.
I love the fact that Aries and Athena are having blows as they argue. As gods of war, it makes sense that they'd test each other in arguments with actual fighting. Guess the one with the better argument and moves wins here..
This is how I always imagine god games would be like Athena and Ares fighting, since they’re both warriors. I’m also glad that Athena finally has hair instead of her whole helmet being covered. This animatic looks good, I’m glad that you got redpuppet to commission you.
realizing on my thousandth watch that athena kneeling and begging aphrodite to listen is likely her showing her love for odysseus to the goddess of love, very much leaning into her domain in order to sway her. this animatic is just gorgeous and has been looping in my head for days!!!❤
Finally someone who edited it in a way I imagined like the parts where Aphrodite fake falls on Athena and looking pity towards her and Ares and Athena throwing hands at each other unlike the others who make it look like argument yours truly stands out
it also makes sense. both god and goddess of warfare. it makes sense they'd duke it out instead of just using words. (like tyr from GOW says. the fighting does the talking, while the mind works out the rest,)
fun fact- the colors of ares and athena were (blue and red) also were used by the greek cultures that used them as their patron gods, with ares being the patron god of the spartans and athena being the patron god of the athenians
The claw coming to her eye is a nice touch I haven't seen before and I like how Athena blocks his fist. Aphrodite turning to petals as Ares comes in was creative and her worried look for Ares thrown on the ground was thoughtful.
I really love this animatic!!! First, yours is the first animatic I’ve seen that gives Aphrodite such pretty orange hair and I really love how much it compliments her pink aesthetic. And I really like that her skin tone is the same as the background of her room, while both Athena’s and Ares skin tones extremely similar which I imagine is because they’re children of War! Dunno if that was intentional but I love it regardless! 🌸🔥 Second I love how in your animatic Ares isn’t just being loud and using intimidation tactics cause I feel like he would know that wouldn’t work on Athena, instead going straight into actually fighting her, cause he’s literally the god of war, and also when Athena just flips him, it really just gives me sibling fighting vibes where Ares is the younger one just going all out only for the older sister to stop humoring him and just BAP!!! And flips him over flat on his back. I love how cute Aphrodite looks when she sees Ares get laid out and actually flies over to help him up and make sure he’s okay since most animatics I’ve seen just have her react and pop up next to him judging Athena, but here she’s actively helping him up. And finally I love how she caters to each god trying convince them. First after seeing Aphrodite’s problem, she immediately pleads with her appealing to her emotions to which she actually looks like she’s considering it, before Ares shows up shouting and attacking her, to which she immediately just hits him back strong-arming her way past Ares forcing him to concede as she physically proves that she has the upper hand. Plus I think it’s so cute how they both just look like scolded children pouting after both agreeing that she beat their ass So overall 10/10 animatic for me! Great job!!! 💖✨🔥🗡️
I always think it is so damn cute and adorable that this goddess of beauty and love n all of that fell inlove with the god that no one else seem to like? Like, he is all the brutal things about war.. but still dotes on his waifu
This was bomb i love seeing people set it up like it's levels in a video game it makes much better sense than my brain viewing it as like a trial or a conference
0:54 Helicopter Helicopter (Edit: Love how Athena is barely bruised from Ares' barrage of attacks but Ares can't even get up anymore after Athena counters.)
The body language when Ares was fighting Athena was amazing! I could see her struggling while he was strangelling her! I also love the height differences❤
Thanks! I only commission artists and post what they created online. You should also give some love for Red Puppet and other artists I have commissioned!
