I am an open minded Christian with progressive views on many issues. However....as a Christian....I would never remove the cross or de-Christianize myself in an attempt to make others happy. I respect other people's faith and expect them to respect mine. I think this speaker has gone from being an open minded Christian to a politically correct disgrace.
Be a humble loving Christian... Or be a humble loving multifaith adherent... Jusy don't confuse the two. Jesus is Lord. See the common ground in all but respect and uphold the uniqueness of Jesus Christ and be prepared for the offence of the message of the cross which is folly to some and the wisdom and power of God to others.
I understand the push to be "progressive" (which is not always a good thing in this world from a Christian worldview), but its disturbing to hear what is supposed to be a minister of the Gospel call himself an "atheist" and to advocate for the removal of the cross from any government seal. I was once Episcopalian, and its things like this that remind me of why I left. The Church is called to be more faithful than this. Shameful.
