"He tortures me, you know. Every day, brother. Odin himself sees to it personally, and believe me, there is no end to his creativity. Every. Single. Day. This... this isn't living." Mimir spitting facts. There are fates worse than death. Staying stuck in the tree and getting tortured endlessly by the Aesir for knowledge is not really "living". If he gets reanimated, he gets to join Kratos and Atreus in their adventures and see the world again while offering them his wisdom (albeit he can't move on his own). If he dies and stays dead, he's free from all of it. It really is a "no-lose" situation as far as he's concerned.
Mimir: "You need to cut off me head." Kratos: "..." Mimir: "What? You've never cut off someones head before?" *Flashbacks to Helios* Kratos: "Not really....cut...off..."
Something I only noticed now, at 4:20 just before Mimir speaks, you can hear wind. The second he starts to say "he tortures me you know" it's dead silent
Mimir: Your father won't let me go, Baldur, and he won't let you kill me. You have nothing to offer me. So take your questions, take your threats, take these two worthless wankers, and piss off. Me: Wow. What a way to introduce a character.
Not counting Orkos (Ares' Son with one of the Furies that helped him in Ascension) whom was the only one that asked Kratos to give him an honorable death AND a funeral pyre!
Hooooooooooooly crap, imagine If Mimir just pulled a 180, you see we still haven't seen Mimir get really mad but there's a deep hatred for Odin. Imagine Odin meets a more cruel fate where Mimir traps him in that tree and tortures him.
I guess you missed the part 'HE PERSONALLY TORTURES ME EVERY DAY WITH NO END TO HIS CREATIVITY' compared to Prometheus who had to endure the same form of torture every single day Mimir's ability to retain his sanity and well as his fighting spirit just goes to show the strength of his character.
Mimir realised that using his knowledge to advise Odin usually resulted in Odin taking the most violent path possible, and made plans to leave. Odin fancied keeping him around.
I read somewhere that GOW's depiction is truer to the myths than Marvel's. Odin and all norse gods were more on the grey side. However, apparently the biggest liberty GOW took is in the depiction of Baldr who is pretty much regarded as norse Jesus. Can't complain though. Baldr makes a very compelling villain.
Exactly what it sounded like? It's basically just a retelling of prometheus being bound to a giant rock and having his innards eaten every day by a big ass bird for making the mistake of pissing off Zeus. Same concept just different methods of torture each day.
Exactly what he means. Every single day, Odin stops by to personally inflict pain onto him in different ways. ""There is no end to his creativity." means that every time is a new original way to torture him: one day flaying, the next day ripping out nails, the 3rd day branding, and etc.
Personally, I would prefer Beerus the destroyer from Dragonball super who just destroys things because of what he is than the sadistic fearful hypocrite that Odin sounds like in terms of character. Let me just say that creative torture sounds really perverted though in this day, things such as cyber bullying where you don’t even have to show your face to the people you insult is the norm, tragic really... until someone can make humor out of it, like Mimir.
If Freya had not been willing to resurrect him or if she couldn't, the last words of Mimir, the smartest man alive, would have been "Fair enough." and i find that very funny.
Odin talked a lot of sense in Ragnarok, but no matter how well he tried to justify his actions I never forgot what he did to Mimir and that meant he could never be trusted
So is it that Baldur hunts Kratos because Odin told him to in exchange for mortality and the ability to feel? That's kinda what i inferred because I'm not quite finished the game yet. I already know how it ends so 'spoilers' are welcome
terraincognita69 Baldur was sent to track down Kratos' wife, not him. Odin likely wanted to torture her for info about how to get into Jotunheim's inner reaches and steal the secrets of the giants, unaware that she is long dead. Kratos and Atreus fighting him and the brothers set off a long chain of fights that ended in Baldur's death, and Ragnarok starting.
Kratos have superhuman strength, so you cannot compare him to your average puny human, so kratos can do that much quicker than normal human could, you do know that bear can cut of your head with one swing of his claws and his foot , and you do know that kratos is like milions of times stronger than bear, and his axe is like tousends of times strogner and better than bear claws, so dont be stupid, there is there is no "let this one slide." it would be stupid and unrealistic if it took kratos more than one hit to cut his head of, DONT COMPARE NORMAL WEAK HUMANS TO KRATOS , kratos is much much much much stronger .
