I feel like we're at a point in video game development where if you're scoring a no-hit run on a boss the dialogue should change in response. Because holyshit what a fight.
@@Kilometoru The metal gear games had some pretty insane and unique dialogue and moments in general. But those were definitely some of the coolest next to psychomantis reading your memory card
We have been at that point for a while. Developers still haven't learn to weave such things into the story. The story is Kratos has a hard time against Thor and instead of adapting the story they just stay with the original idea
IKR. 💩talking while he's owning you? Santa Monica Studios needs to change it up on some boss fights to them being frustrated for not being able to land a single hit.🤣🤣
@@ZuZu66667 Tyr knew of him, and currently it seems anyone who’s anyone also knows. Not surprising, I figure when an entire pantheon is murdered and region of the globe is thrown into chaos, that news probably gets around real quick.
Fun fact, kratos’s axe was imbued with jormungandr’s poison (eitr) in the previous game, therefore when kratos injure Thor’s stomach at 1:24, that wound never heal throughout the game
@@kayveethegoat1573 sure, but none of them really pierced as deep as that one blow, the handle of the axe was the only visible part from how deep the cut was
@@warzip1581 Well, the Aesir we actually know a bunch about were basically all war gods, especially Thor, and Kratos is still a god, so unless you ascribe to the theory that he is legally the God of the underworld due to stealing Hades's soul, he'd have to still be running on War God juice.
@@ramentraveler7099 It was probably more like "Oh? Now that's a proper punch, that actually made me feel something" Thor didn't come for a duel to the death, he's not really even there to avenge the death of his sons either he wanted a fight, he wanted to experience the fame god of war from the Greek pantheon just to satisfy his battle lust
Atreus: father, where did you learn all your combat skills? Ongbal: Ever heard of Soulsborne? or Ashina? May be Lands between? Atreus: no, Ongbal: *EXACTLY.*
How did him getting hit in the head stop his heart? I think that the swing might have only put him in critical condition but the lightning snapped him back up.
@@ConstantUNTILisnt I don't think so, Kratos supposedly always holds back bc the devs say he'd be op. I don't think Thor has anything on Zeus but he prob can compete with olympian gods.
@@degenerateweeb1482 Thor is literally a better fighter than Zeus you can see thar Thor was also holding back if he wasn’t why will he revive Kratos when he literally killed him
@The Owl Lady Destroy an entire Greek pantheon and that pantheon would shatter much more than mountains. Did you hit your head or something? Kratos holds back so much because he doesn't want to kill anyone.
It’s my personal headcannon that Thor needed his magical gauntlets and belt that doubled his already immense strength to wield Mjolnir like in the original myths. And Kratos was able to momentarily stop Mjolnir barehanded.
@XavierCaliber I've heard of Thor having a belt, but never gauntlets! I've ordered a book about Norse mythology, so I'm looking forward to learning about them!
I didn't know if I'd like the direction they went with Thor, but he's a complete savage. I really liked his aesthetic and voice actor. Great villian and pretty intimidating
The ending part of the game was quite disappointing for me. Also, the fights after this one are quite underwhelming. Baldur fights were better than any in this game. There were only 2 Thor fights but the second one was much more underwhelming than the first one. Also, no more feats of strength of Kratos. Less destruction and brutality. Overall I love the games, and the writing is top tier, but they dumbed down the other aspects.
I haven't made it to the 2nd fight yet, but I very much disagree about Baldur. His first fight had like 3 moves. Charge punch, ground slam, and the air slam from the 2nd phase. He was so piss easy just to parry spam. I enjoyed the beginning Thor fight much more. More challenging and more fun. I also think he looks fkn cool. At least they did something different to make their version stand out. I didn't read your whole comment though, because I didn't know if it had spoilers in it.
@@YeOldeMachine it's also the setup, man. He destruction, too. It's too low. Kratos doesn't show any feats of his strength like he did in the previous 2 games. The only feats of his are like fighting some 10 feet tall animal, or wrestling a bear or something. Nothing spectacular like the last fight in GOW 2018. Gods seem too humanizing, their fights make them look like they have IronMan level strength. The writing is REALLY good. Buildup, dialogue, everything is fantastic. The only complaint I have is that they took away the spectacle out of it. That's it
When I first saw Kratos freezing Thors lightning I was MINDBLOWN Really cool fight and even cooler gameplay Can't wait for Kratos vs Idk Odin no damage
Thor is a warrior. Arrogant and always eager to fight. He lives for the fight itself. Loves to be challenged. So of course he would be both surprised and excited to see Kratos’ Spartan Rage.
He breaks the 4th wall twice in this fight. "Trying to remember you're old moves" is referencing the probability that you're still getting re-used to the 2018 combat and "stop holding back" is a reference (I think) to the fact that canonically, Kratos holds back SO MUCH in game for gameplay reasons. This is the same dude that slaughtered the Greek pantheon and Thor knows that. He's getting annoyed that Kratos isn't hurting him and he knows it's on purpose
@@idnanawagun3260 yea as much as I love Kratos' character development. I wish they somehow made him dominate these gods. He literally destroyed the greek pantheon. I understand why they nerfed him but I wish these gods could've seen what Kratos is actually capable of.
@@degenerateweeb1482 Kratos destroyed the Olympian gods but not without resistance. The gods gave Kratos a good fight (with the exception of a few) and he almost lost the final fight against Zeus again.
You always show us how perfection looks like. And not only no damage or no hit challenges, you make an effort on it to look also impressive and dynamic. Pure masterpieces that ever can be, even so you don't stop developing. Go ahead, BIGGball, ahahahaha
I feel like a lot of people didn't catch when Thor said "this feels familiar" after that lighting got frozen he was referring to his battle with Faye kratos wife
The real boss is the Cutscene. No matter how great you play, the Cutscene can simply kill you and then revive you, just to remind you who is the actual boss.
I was quite happy with myself beating Thor on GMGOW but then *of course* you come along in "hold my beer" mode and beat him without getting a tickle 😂😂 well done you are the Masterchief
4:59 5:06 5:14 This part will always be engraved into my brain. The clash from the trailer, these two powerhouses walking around their mid air stopped weapons while going back and forth about Modi, and then at the same time calling their weapons back to them for another clash 🔥🔥
It's kinda funny how Thor is so respectful to Kratos while trying to kill him. Like he doesn't call him weak so much but he rather just says he's holding back
man, he is playing the fire. Kratos killed every supernatural being in his mythology, they know that, but still cocky enough to play with not just god of war but end of the world himshelf
Wished there were different voice lines if u don’t get hit, cause Thor is literally unable to touch Kratos here, and he still says “You’re a Fucking Disappointing”
I think GoW is amazing, but honestly watching this boss fight makes me realize HOW AMAZING From Software's bosses are. Sekiro, Dark Souls, Elden Ring... So much more exciting and spetacular.
@@casualuser8064 This fight looks terrible IMO. Idk about the others cause I don't own a PS4/PS5, but if that's the GoW standard, jeez, they should take a look at From's games.
Well, I agree. But this is heavily character focused game and you need to have characters interacting with each other in order to build them. Unlike from software games where there is a great story that you unravel as the game progress and your character may very well be a plank of wood and would not impact the story at all. Also this is the first boss you face and from a gameplay perspective, Kratos hasn’t gained any skills in the game. That would be like saying the from software games are lackluster based on the tutorial boss.
@@SpinalGT not every game should look like fromsoftware game. Variety is beauty. Being souls fans myself I understand how other games feel after playing fromsoftware game but you need to give chance to something different.
@@SoushiBN I know it's a different game, story focused, but look at this fight, looks clunky and ugly. Check Elden Ring's tutorial boss, so much better, Sekiro's first boss Genichiro, just amazing.. GoW could still be character focused and have great boss fights, looks lazy to me, hopefully it's not like that the whole game.
With how kratos has a penchant for taking the weapons of his enemies, I'm surprised he didn't get to use mjolnir in this game for the up directional weapons button.
3:59 Kratos was supposed to say this during the first round if he gets hit by Thor. What I don’t like is the fact that he says this after getting killed, which can be interpreted as Kratos trying to reason out so Thor will not go hard on him.
Sekiro mains on god of war? Pretty sure people would just parry just like sekiro btw keep it going ONGBAL you make me having the feelings to beat every soul-like game
Thor: “There he is, there’s the critically acclaimed playstation title God of war ragnarok devloped by Santa Monica Studios known for its famous quote Every God has its war” literally sent chills down my spine.
3:04 I don't think he realises what he's asking for. That monster toppled a pantheon of Gods by all accounts far more powerful than anything they can comprehend.
Didn't expect I'd be seeing you play God Of War specifically Ragnarok but he isn't that hard of a boss to fight even on second hardest difficulty which I'm doing and he's also like the second boss fight so it's as expected. it's a really good boss fight because it shows off how powerful thor can be and also he had a good introduction so more to expect from him but hopefully when we fight him again it will be amazing. Also hope to see you do well with these bosses probably better than me to avoid damage lol.
1:44 that "bonk" from 🪓 to Thor's head was violation 😂😂😂 Edit: no wonder why Thor gets drunk all the time, cuz he can't bear the shame of disrespect from this fight 😂
@@Akh1135 thor grabs kratos and then you have to press L1 and kratos does a beautiful stylish and sexy counter . It totally gives the feeling of a true Godly fight .
Yea, ok this is exactly how I imagined the fight between Kratos and Thor going… back and forth momentum throughout the entire fight. Ongbal playing this game is gonna be a good time. 👍👍
This was truly what a god duel would be. On the surface, it's just two bad dudes duking it out with their telekinetic weapons but on a grander scale. But you can clearly see the environment getting destroyed just from the intensity of their fervor.
Honestly some of the bosses in this game are easy, I finished the 2nd Thor and Odin fight with no damage after about 5 times of trying. I found some of the mini bosses more difficult than the main bosses lol
