God of War Ragnarok Valhalla DLC How To Unlock Hilt of Skofnung & Flawless Berserker Armor

Guide for how to unlock the secret Hilt of Skofnung and Flawless Berserker armor in God of War Ragnaroks Valhalla DLC. To do so you must first beat the main story of the DLC, then on subsequent runs you must complete both the ship and lost sands side activities in the Greece section. After that the colliseum forum unlocks in the upper center of the map. Be prepared as a berserker bossfight from the main story awaits you. You must complete 2 full runs killing a berserker each time to unlock the final challenge for your 3rd run. During the 3rd run King Hrolf will spawn, who is a much stronger challenge than the other 2. Defeating him will earn you the hilt as well as the Flawless berserker armor cosmetic.

Did you guys know you can change to the classic Kratos skin by hitting R3 where you select your armor? I just found that out today...idk if it was an unlock for beating the dlc fully or in was always there.

Pretty sure it’s from beating the DLC specifically, also unlocks the new rage option for new game plus as well.

@lockongamingelite yeah I noticed that. It also unlocks the armorless Kratos options to level up in ng+ along with all the cosmetic armor unlocks. You can make Kratos look just like GoW 3 classic version with the Helios head..lol. I only need the Perfect Berserk armor...that King is a bitch though. The devs said no one at Sony Santa Monica can beat him at the Mastery level. Im playing in the level below it and I've gotten his health all the way gone twice but he won't die. There must be a trick or something. I was hoping it was going to be Hercules from GoW 3 in that forum room but it's not. Hoping the Demios skin would be there too but they do have dialog about Ghost of Sparta.

for those who dont know, try to get artillery of the anciets for the spear during a chaos blades path attempt, itll help cancel the kings bifrost move cause he'll be slammed with spears

Artillery of the Ancients is my favourite spear heavy attack skill. It's always in my main game heavy slot and I always try to get it in Valhalla.

Most likely because it was not him you fought. Gotta beat the first two Berserkers first and then on the 3rd visit to the arena he spawns.

I don't think you need to do both arenas, just pass the 6 chosen ones and the arena is already unlocked

I had to do 7/6 because when i finished all 6 it was still locked. The 7th one i did, happened to be the last shimmering one so idk if that had something to do with it

You have to complete both mini arena challenges on the left and right side at gold tier. Then kill atleast 6 champions to open top. You will know it because the king will come out. If it’s one of the berserkers you haven’t got gold tiers in both arena challenges.

I can honestly say i love this, its a challenge on harder difficulties. Beat this on give me GOW and than go back and play the story on the same Its like playing on show me will, I love the kinda cross between the greek maps and relms

Wdym? It's one of the best relics (I prefer 'talismans'😂) in the game. You can equip it in Valhalla before the start of a run. You can also use it in the base game ofc

It summons ghost swords that attack your enemies and deal a ton of damage/ stun.

I've been playing a lot, if you get items that give you relic charges you can almost spam the relic especially the one that gives you invincibility. Chance when hit during runic to restore relic/runic, etc. There are many builds.

It'll take out half of tyr's health with a single use which makes getting the shield and rage mastery WAY easier to grind through

You can try to improve your timings of runic attacks and relic use. Almost all your uses are a total miss

Yeah, I was honestly surprised when he popped up as the boss, and since it had been over a year since I fought him in main story I completely forgot the timing of all of his moves, which is why the run was really messy.

To open the arena you need to complete the main story of the dlc, then when you get to the Greece area complete 7 chosen of the slain, that should unlock the arena. After that beat 2 berserkers and on the 3rd run the berserker king should spawn

The DLC trophy list is separate from the main game, and not required for the platinum.

The armor from the dlc does not carry over to the main story, with the exception of the Zeus and ares armors that our locked in chests in the Greece area, as well as the throwback kratos armor from finishing the dlc.

Soooo I finally managed to get here and beat king Hrolf, but I did not get the relic. Any ideas on why and what I need to do different to get it? Man it's going to be hard to get to him with enough health and rage to then beat him...

Did you beat tyr on that run after beating king hrolf? As the only thing I can think of for why it wouldn’t give you the relic is if the run didn’t save the rewards due to not defeating tyr. If you did beat tyr then I’m honestly not sure why it didn’t drop the relic for you, as it’s suppose to.

@@lockongamingelite Thanks for your answer. I did not beat Tyr, but in this video you already get at least the video animation of receiving the relic. I did not. I believe I may have found it. I got back to the arena again later and instead of Hrolf, it was now someone else. Perhaps this is what you meant with you need to beat the other two first? When I fought Hrolf, it was my first time at this arena. Maybe that's it? Oh and then next time I got there, it was Hrolf again. So perhaps it also matters if you go to do the ship first, or the sands to determine who spawns there?

No only 2 of them, I don’t remember exactly which two but they weren’t any where near as bad as they were in the main campaign.

Only legacy spartan rage and the young kratos skin, everything else already exists in the regular game (Relics, armours, shields). You unlock legacy rage after beating first thor bossfight only in new game plus

At least the rage usage is pretty low unless you power up the basic attacks and even then if you manage it well, it can still last pretty long. Not to mention parrying and killing gives you back rage as well, as long as you play smart and treat it like any other weapon then it’s pretty useful and fun

I don’t normally play roguelikes, and mainly just wanted to experience the story of this DLC so I went through on easy, did my main story run on give me balance though, as dying wasn’t as heavily penalized.

⁠@@lockongamingelitesame here, I played on give me balance since I just wanted to have fun with the dlc and go hardcore later once I got familiar with Valhalla. No shame in playing lower difficulties for the sake of enjoying the story or game. That and I’m currently trying to beat the main game on GMGOW NG+ so I needed the break

Bro I played on the second to hardest difficulty and it was tough. Definitely felt harder than GMGOW on the base game.
