That actually sounded fantastic on the 3 head deck. I love that there's still companies selling cassettes. I was surprised to find new Maxell tapes at a store here in town in 2019, so I bought a few. I went back in 2020 to buy more and they didn't have any. I asked the clerk if they were getting more, and she looked at me like I was crazy - "it's 2020!" she says.

You discovered Kingdom (blessed be)! Their 100 Cassette Wooden Racks are a little-known cassette collectors' gem. They are one of the only places to still buy new, large wooden racks like that. With vintage Napa Valley ones going for $50-$70 plus shipping the high-quality Kingdom ones at under $40 are a bargain. I discovered those from finding one initially at a thrift as well. Thanks again for the great and very entertaining content!

They’re available on eBay if you can get them. Kingdom still made cassettes which is still available online, and Kingdom has no sign of slowing down. I remember those tapes.... Back in the 90s I volunteered to help at the church to do recordings and tape copies. The sermon gets recorded through the mics and a small mixer board into a recorder, and afterwards we use a bulk tape copier to make up to three copies at a time. They're for people who want to hear the sermons again or if anyone missed the previous services. The tape duplicators were so fast and easy I didn't need to be there watching so I could chat with my friends till they were done. Good times...

I once bought a JVC DAT deck that came with some matching JVC blank tapes, some of which had been used. Turns out it had been owned by a church of some sort and the tapes were full of sermons and "testimonies" of things the church members had overcome (such as the pastor's former drug addictions, etc). Needless to say the tapes were subsequently recorded over with the devil's music.

As others have said, I have used these tapes for many years, too. I have thought that they look very similar to TDK tapes of that era. So, I don't know if TDK manufactured them for Kingdom or not. While going through things in my garage during quarantine, I discovered boxes of church service recordings on these tapes. About 30 years later, the recordings hold up very well on them. No "sticky tape syndrome," or drops in sound quality. After tapes, we went to CD-R recording and duplication. Now, I send an audio signal back to someone else who is running a video switcher connected to a Macintosh laptop running e-cam software streaming to RU-vid. Oh my, how far we have come! As always, thanks so much for these videos! Have a happy holiday, VWestlife!

Very good find. In a junk shop I found some 80s TDKs with church services recorded onto them and awful organ playing. But these are really mint. The sermons sound much more exciting than mundane Presbyterians.

Another cassette video- happy days. I love picking up sealed blank tapes in charity shops and used high- end ones as well ,( not all charity shops will sell used ones though). Tapes rock. Mind you, picking up Dat tapes or DCC tapes is rarer than rocking horse droppings. Keep up the great videos.

My best find in terms of blank tapes was a car boot sale where I found three TDK SA90s from the early eighties and a TDK MA-R unused in wrappers albeit heavily shredded. Fifty pence for the lot. I think I used all my tape luck for the year there as I've not found a single blank since.

Those are being made for them by National Audio Company, which is already selling them (sans TASCAM branding) on their web site. And yes, I may get one just because I think it looks cool.

Finally a positive view of NJ. NJ isn't just Newark and dirty crowded cities. I'm proud to live in NJ. There are many beautiful places in NJ that get overlooked because everyone sees Newark if they fly in.

With the Dolby turned on those sound pretty good. A good price to order 100 straight from the manufacturer as well. Cassette prices have gone nuts so it's good to have another option.

I just found a used TDK MA-110 type 4 in a thrift store for 25 cents. Hopefully the tape itself is in good condition. I only have 2 type 4’s, one has permanent recordings that I don’t want to touch and the other has mold and sounds worse than a type 1. So I’m hoping this TDK is in good shape for me to experiment with :)

My record store has a box of blank unlabeled cassettes. Those were probably from the same company that produces those tapes for duplication and indie music. Especially that vinyl is more expensive to make copies for the small and independent record labels.

Forgot to mention... At my old church, they kept every sermon ever given. Since 1966. So that's a tape for every Sunday 1966-2005. It took up an entire closet, floor to ceiling.

Those three blue arriws on the leader used to be indicative of Maxell tape. This might have UR tape in it. Also, your Bias setting is rather inaccurate since the level meter's resolution is too coarse. I always find it useful to use a pink noise test tone recorded at ~ -20dB and then adjust the bias by ear between source and tape. It's the second best thing if your deck lacks internal calibration tones.
