Hey there, I just finished transcribing this improvisation! Please feel free to get your digital copy of the sheet music in my webstore here if you'd be interested in playing this piece too! Link: feypaul.sellfy.store/p/anthem/
The martial mood makes you think of Queen Elizabeth "Trooping the Color" from horseback in heaven. (We know this melody in the U.S. A. as "My Country Tis of Thee"). From Chicago, U.S.A.
Let’s pray Proverbs 21:1 be true in every way: “The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.”
@Cabal Paxiarch it is the Royal Anthem of Australia. The Australian National Anthem is “Advance Australia Fair”, which replaced “God Save the Queen” in 1974. “God Save the Queen/King” is now only played in regal occasions. I fear with a Labor government seeking a referendum, this anthem will seldom be sung.
At the school I went to as a kid when our family lived in Australia, every morning at assembly both the Australian flag and the Union Jack were raised, and we had to sing both God Save the Queen and the Australian anthem. In that order. Then it was followed by standing at attention (we had strict uniform code with blazers and ties btw), to make the following salute: "I honour my God, I serve my Queen, I salute my flags". This was was way back in the mid 80s at primary school, and being a dual-citizen with both parents born and raised in continental Europe, you'd think this daily routine should have felt weird to me. But thinking back, it felt surprisingly normal... after all, the Queen's head was on the back of all the coins we got for pocket money, so I guess it made sense at the time! Even today after decades living back in Europe, I feel as confronted as I'm sure most Brits do by having to get used to the lyrics changing to the version for a King instead of a Queen. Which is weird, considering that technically, it's never been the anthem of any of the countries I'm a citizen of..! ;)
Thank you so much for doing this! It’s wonderful to see so many people making tributes to our amazing Queen (and now King)! Rest in piece Your majesty Queen Elizebeth.
Thank you Paul for such an inspiring rendition. I had to listen many times just to let the music sink in. As a student I remember singing this each evening in our classroom at the end of day in grade school, and yes we sang "God Save Our King" (for two years I believe). Then it was changed to: "God Save Our Queen". I was educated in 🇨🇦 and now live in Southern California. That refrain is still just as alive in me as it was in 1950. Thank you Paul for such an excellent arrangement and your musicianship also was First Class
We Americans sing this same melody under the name "Our Country 'Tis of Thee". It's interesting how the UK and the US have some similarities in that regard. Great version of this song btw!
A wonderful improvisation of the British national anthem, with fanfare, with so much passion and musical skill! Only the organ can do what you did in such a majestically impressive way. For us Germans, too, the Queen was somehow an institution to see what we are missing in our own country. Bravo, for this ingenious work! 👏👏👏
Tremendous playing of such a well known piece here in the UK. You have added so much more and I am sure the King would like it. Love the harmonies, Paul.
Thank You Paul, Much Appreciated. Just saw the Queen’s plane departing Edinburgh and her beloved Scotland for the final time on her flight back to Buckingham Palace!!
This is a wonderful improvisation on the British anthem, Paul. Such rich and full harmonies throughout, a bold and dynamic performance. I really enjoyed this, Thanks.
In all my years, Paul, I have never heard a more beautiful harmonisation of our National Anthem. I found it particularly poignant, yet wonderfully pleasing. Thank you so much . I hope that you may consider publishing a score for it as I have no doubt that this would be welcomed by so many organists - aspiring or otherwise.
In America that music is “My Country tis of thee, Sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing, Land where my Fathers died, Land of the pilgrim pride, from every mountain side Let Freedom ring,
Oooh a big WOW. The British may be very proud of their wonderful National Anthem, such an amazing melody! And you, dear Paul, makes it majestic! What a superior improvisation.... tears in my eyes....touches the bottom of my heart 🙏🥲
The melody of the British National Anthem was an international tune which was/is used for similar purposes by several countries, including the USA. I think it was its use by Thomas Arne in a very popular opera and current political conditions that allowed it to catch on bigtime in England in the 18th century.
💐👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏💐🎼🙏. Majestically expressed and moving. RIP QUEEN ELIZABETH II. HAIL, TO THE KING. LONDON'S Bell of the future has now resounded through the tribute noted in your arrangement. I say again, 👏👏👏👏👏.
Awesome stuff Paul - the best improvisation on our National Anthem I’ve heard. Love the way the camera shakes with your animated playing. Very sad times here in the UK, and Monday’s funeral will be a very powerful thing indeed.
That brought tears to my eyes, it was so majestic and so beautifully writen and so well played!!! You are awesome Paul! God bless you on your musical talent!!!!
Thank you so much paul as an Anglican organist I have been required to play our National Anthem this week wonderful to hear your Fanfare and arrangement of God Save The King.
Such a simple song. and yet so grand. Is it just its musical qualities and the stirring virtuosity of this rendition? Or is it all the splendor we associate with it? Not sure....but i'm a Yank who loves it. God Save The King.
Fabulous, Paul: bravo. My holiday in Italy is drawing to a close and your magnificent arrangement of the National Anthem made me feel quite homesick in view of the loss of a great Queen and the accession of the longest ever 'King-in-waiting' while I have been on vacation. (And Remi was correct: your performance was wonderfully exciting!)
Sometimes I always wonder ... Hmm ... I don't wonder anymore ... Young, really talented, really high goals ... Mathematically speaking, full A++++ .. I wish him a long life and a career, whatever he does. Of course, I hope to hear many more original interpretations of different songs (organ or other). Thanks and bow :-)
Hi, lieber Paul. Orgel und dazu Dein Spiel - wie ich sie liebe! Klasse gespielt und voll meinen Geschmack getroffen. Gänsehaut pur. Danke, danke lieber Paul. Weiter so! Ich wünsche Dir wie immer eine schöne Zeit. Bis bald. Viele Grüße von Steffen aus Görlitz.
Well, this caught me unawares just before bedtime. It takes a lot to move me to tears but there have been a few moments over the last few days and this is certainly one of them. Thank you so much for sharing such a powerful performance.
Brilliant! God save the king! Even though I'm not English, I always get a tear in my eye when I tune into this powerful song. A few tears came from my eye from your powerful arrangement.Thank you!
Paul, I hope when you look into the mirror, you see a living gift from God. Your performance gave many people such joy. This one especially is a 2-Kleenex box. You are awesome!
Thank you Paul. Just getting used to singing God save the King for the first time. I was seven months old when she came to the throne. The funeral was beyond words.
Hallo lieber Paul so gefühlvoll einfach perfekt gespielt. Ich höre echt regelmässig deine tolle Musik vielen dank dafür, was ich mal noch kurz anmerken möchte ich finde es absolut super das du jeden Kommentar beantwortest liebe grüsse aus dem Saarland Martin
B. Steane's Marche Triomphale has always been almost unknown, but not to my old organ teacher, who taught me it when I was twelve (it was 1977). We played it on a beautiful, small but very refined organ: the Vegezzi Bossi from Montanaro, in Piedmont, and for me the mere fact of succeeding was a celebration. You are very good!
Wish it was Paul Fey playing this at the Coronation in May 2023. That would make an exceptional event - exceptionally special. Great playing, again, Paul
Toll gespielt, Paul! Sehr erhebend!
My father used to build, repair, and overhaul pipe organs for Roger's and Wick's Organ Companies as well as the Tyson Piano Company while I was a child. This had me spending quite a bit of time in churches while the work was done and later saw me and my little brother helping out. My dad also was church organist for about 30 years. SO this brings back many memories.
Einfach wunderschön, lieber Paul🤗. Ich mag diese Hymne sowie sehr und höre sie zu gern, zumal noch mit so einem tollen Orgelklang. Gesegnete Weihnachten noch🎄🙋🏻♂️
Although I am not an Englishman, I have always loved this song. I draw inspiration when listening to many other countries national anthems. I was in turn moved by your rendition. I long for the day when all nations will get along with one another. Thanks so much !
@@PaulFey The Kingdom of Prussia even used this melody before the German Empire (Heil dir im Siegerkranz). I'd also like to add that this is not just the de facto anthem of England, but the royal anthem of the other constitutive nations of the UK (Scotland, the northern part of Ireland, and Wales), and of Commonwealth realms such as Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and so on. 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🇫🇷 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🇫🇷 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝 🇫🇷🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝 🇫🇷🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝
That was absolutely marvellous. During my military music career, I've played this umpteen thousand times and become a tad fed up. This ranks higher than the Gordon Jacobs version!
Gluten tag from Attica Ohio USA I learned some German a few years ago I mourn the passing of HM Queen Elizabeth 11 I hope King Charles 111 is as good as his mother was I loved her and her way she did things I have German and English ancestors.i
Oh, Paul! This is so majestic and proud. What a tribute to her late Majesty and to The King. You brought tears to my eyes with this one, my Friend. Thank you!
