Did Lazarus prosper? Did Paul prosper? Did Christ prosper? Prosper spiritually perhaps, although prosper is not a suitable word, but God calls each to His Own purposes and blessings.
Prosperity is not in the worldly sense that many think of. Jesus was very successful. He paid the penalty for sin and then rose again, for example. Paul said he had run the race and kept the faith. It's not about material success, it's about success in fulfilling one's calling in the kingdom of God.
@@geoffstokes Thank you for your clarification. Prosperity normally means having a lot of money which is why I questioned the use of the word in this context. There is also a "prosperity gospel" which is heresy and so the use of that word is really too close. If you mean it rather as successful fulfillment, spiritual success, then that is something we all ought to seek and wish for each other. Just feel uncomfortable with that particular word.
